Animals and nature weren't the main reason for the ban, that was safety and order: Each December, police/ambulances/firefighters are constantly getting attacked by people throwing fireworks at them, people are setting cars on fire with fireworks, and hundreds of people each year end up in the ER because of firework accidents. And those problems also cost society lots and lots of money. Some other reasons were the problems fireworks cause for animals, nature, people with lung diseases and people with PTSD. By the way, it's not a total ban, firework shows are still allowed with a permit.

In Ireland the sale, supply, possession or use of fireworks is illegal but every year there are still dozens of incidents and injuries caused by fireworks. Rarely hear about anyone being prosecuted.

In countries that connect to others because of their geography, excess electricity from one can be sent to another that needs it. That is what majority of the states in the US do, in the continental US, except for Texas, which has a completely separate power grid not connected to any other(and that has caused problems in massive storms which cause power outages).

Even though parts might be blocked from sale to other countries: The one big advantage of solar and wind power is it cannot be claimed by one nation or individual and blocked for use. Uranium, coal, gad and oil can be hoarded and transports be blocked or hindered. But nobody can steal the sun or the wind. This is why people like Trunp hate it, they cannot control it. Water power is in between, it is pissible to block access to hydropower, but very difficult.

Reliable sources say 30 GW wind, nearly 40 GW solar (installed capacity, not necessarily the power generated at any moment). Admittedly, Spain is a leader in Europe, but I feel TWh per year would be a more realistic measure (for any country).

Meanwhile, the price of electricity as a fraction of annual earnings is much lower now than when I was young, many decades ago - and lighting is incredibly efficient. Electricity now is more affordable than in the past. The big affordability problem here in the UK is the stupidly high cost of housing.

It's not just that species go extinct, it's also the decline in total numbers of the species, that leads to worse genetic diversity. And therefore less ability to adapt to an new environment, etc.

Not exactly true. There are several streets that go off and parallel the main street to the east part of the village, but the west part is one line of houses on the main street. The next little village to the west, Kosmolow, is mostly only one street wide. Nearly everyone in these villages is a farmer on long skinny acres of land.
