34 Beautiful Interiors In Abandoned Homes That Will Leave You Wondering What Happened
I love exploring and photographing abandoned buildings. However, villas - castles - mansions - houses are amongst my favorite types of locations to visit. In these photos, I've tried to capture the hidden architecture of some of the most beautiful abandoned homes in Europe.
Be mesmerized by uniquely designed staircases, details in a room where you would never expect it, or the most dreamy view outside of the window. These places are old, very old. They carry so much history with them, and I feel privileged to have been able to photograph them.

Unique Detail In A Room In An Abandoned Castle
It's not abandoned, just inhabited... Castello de Sammezzano around Firenze in Italy. Sometimes used for event or filming (alien perfume ad from Mugler) Been there it's absolutely amazing!!!
Shot this with permission of the ‘owner’. Sure is abandoned right now. Long legal struggle.

I googled this place and it is a popular tourist attraction. That is why it is in so good condition compared to most abandoned buildings.
Afraid not, a long legal struggle is going on. The interior is in bad decay.
Load More Replies...This is NOT abandoned. I have a hard time believing that. There's no dust, and *some* of the glass would have fallen out. Unless it's been abandoned for the last 15 minutes?
I take it back, looking at some of these other pictures!

Load More Replies...It is so sad that something so beautiful lands up un-loved and looked after. With you there Maggie, if only we had money to buy these and put the love back.
Was I supposed to do that? Type "First!"? Is this in Italy? This is unbelievably awesome.

Left Behind Books In An Abandoned House
Unfortunately usually if someone finds an abandoned place with the books and furniture the main problem is the mould. If any building has been abandoned long time and especially if the doors and windows are broken everything inside the building will soon start to rot. It is also worth remembering that many buildings are abandoned because of the mould - it would be much cheaper to move and leave everyhtning behind than trying to fix the mold problem and try to clean everything. Especially moldy books are very difficult to clean because the mould spores are so small. So if you find books or furniture from an abandoned building think twice before taking anything with you. Mould is very bad for your lungs.

Load More Replies..."Abandoned" isn't the right word when the two rugs on the floor are worth the same as a nice Mercedes.
And so that SOMEBODY has the decency to help you out, despite your laughable accusations of being personally attacked due to having your English corrected, and especially considering English is not your "mother tongue", I'll give you two words better to have used rather than abandoned: 1) dilapidated 2) vacant or vacated. Which leads me to my next point buddy. Since, as per you, many of these vacated, and dilapidated properties have several valuable items held within them, I'd be willing to bet that you enter them by trespassing on someone's private property, in order for you to indulge yourself in this photog hobby of yours. Shame on you. Here's hoping that you aren't also a thief in addition to being a trespasser.

What really caused the abandonment of so many great places; that on top from well being families. Can nobody live here or there? Beside your pictures, do you have a story to tell? We will not see them anymore in the future. I wish I could afford to live in one of them.
My guess is a lot of these people inherited most of these place and eventually ran out of money?

What a shame those are all abandoned!! Maybe I should try harder at winning the lottery and get me one of those
These places are ideal locations for students studying Art, Architecture, Historical Décor,.... the list is endless. The students could be restoring these places as part of their final year thesis, etc. Not only could they be learning, but also contributing to restoring theses places to their final glory. Imagine what the tourism sector could gain?
Is it just me going through these pictures and wondering why the government is allowing these beautiful buildings to be left abandoned when they could so easily allow people to live in them and restore them, rather than letting them fall into disrepair? I for one would absolutely *love* the chance to do up just one of these rooms and make them beautiful again!
Hey, could you write names of places where you found these buildings? Thanks ;)
I know it would cost a bundle, but take out a loan, fix it up and rent out the rooms to tourists for big money. These places are gorgeous!
