The Reiner family tragedy has sent shockwaves through the world, and cast a spotlight on the mental health struggles some people are dealing with behind closed doors. As more details emerge about what transpired before Rob and Michele Reiner lost their lives, netizens have been speaking out about their own personal experiences of living with a troubled relative.

One of them is a 17-year-old who says he’s absolutely terrified of his younger sister. She was diagnosed with behavioral disorders as a child and her violent nature is causing chaos. She’s attacked her family several times, with her brother landing up in hospital a few of those times. He wants to move out for his own safety but his parents think he’s being dramatic.

These will be the same parents defending the daughter when she ends up ending another person's life. Just like the family defending the step brother who k*illed his step sister and stuffed her under a mattress on that cruise ship. Hope OP can escape.

I’m really not making light of mental illness; what im trying to do is to lighten the mood a tiny bit in a very depressing situation. It seems Sis is appropriately diagnosed with IED because she comes across as a genuine improvised explosive device, and that’s ODD. Seriously, though, has anyone here ever heard of either diagnosis? This is my first time seeing either one. (And if you suffer from either or both, I intended no harm; I’m just trying to be as cheerful as I can about a miserable situation, and the first two posts I read here when I woke up today were two of the most depressing things I’ve ever read anywhere. I’ve just had a really 💩 day and am feeling as if I got my head caught in a ringer. 😞) (I’ll go to bed now and hope for a better Panda day tomorrow.) (And if you suffer from IED or ODD or both, I also wish you an excellent day tomorrow, too, if it’s possible!)

Record video of her behavior and call 911 every time she is violent, even if your parents say not to. Refuse to return to the house after the next violent incident and ask to be moved to foster care. Report every incident to your school counselor or vice principal - they are required to involve CPS. Basically, make things untenable for your parents.

Kid needs to file for emancipation. In the meantime, he needs to get a Taser.

A minor will only be granted emancipation if they can financially support themselves. In this situation, CPS will eventually act and remove OP to the grandparents.
