I feel the same. When I knew that my most beloved cat's time was coming to an end, my vet told me that I could call him at any time and he would come to my house to put him to sleep. I had to make that call on a Sunday evening, and my vet kept his promise, so that my cat could be put to sleep in his familiar surroundings. It was still one of the worst days of my life, but I will always be grateful that I didn't have to put him through any kind of stress in his final hours.
