Yeah, but no. I know someone who works at a UK university. They had a case where a lecturer took a bribe from a student to pass their exam. The student complained because they ended up failing. The lecturer got away with it because there was no corruption involved - they'd taken the money, then done their job according to the rules; nor did they "bring the university into disrepute" (the secondary charge against them at the disciplinary hearing) because (as the union-supplied lawyer pointed out), they'd kept their mouth closed on the subject - hadn't told a soul. Two lessons can be learnt from this: 1) never try to outsmart a university lecturer; 2) if you are a university lecturer, join a union. 😁
