Oyen, the ginger cat, was adopted by a herd of capybaras at Zoo Negara in Malaysia. It is thought he moved in during Covid. The Capybaras have accepted him as part of the family.

They're not harmless *because they're herbivores*, they're harmless because they are not territorial or aggressive and have no offensive or defensive capabilities. Hippos are more dangerous than lions. Rhinos are deadly because of their charge first, ask questions later philosophy. Gorillas can certainly mess you up.

I'm going to say it's a completely different bear. I've worked with horses in the past and know the size of foals. There's no way the small teddy in the first picture would look that big in the second next to a full grown horse.

Did Murphy lose his partner (since they mate for life) before they nested, or was he unable to find one and his paternal urge is just too intense? Either way, I say we just leave him be, and enjoy watching him be the best single eagle dad in the world. We did it for the gay penguin couple, so let's let a single dad be himself too.

Murphy was injured I believe and nursed back to health. He nursed a stone, he did such a wonderful job they gave him a chick. I think he's on his 3rd or 4th foster Dad role currently.

The fox who lives in our yard/woods had 5 babies this year. They have been soo incredibly fun to watch. Very rowdy too. Frequently you could almost see Mom thinking "I really need some alone time". :)
“I also think this is a human-created issue and therefore should be the responsibility of humanity to ensure these animals are given the life they deserve. Hundreds of thousands of dogs are euthanized or die on the streets every year because they are unwanted. “Having a former free-roaming dog has really made me appreciate the bond that can be developed between dog and human,” Sayler fondly shares. “He did not grow up in a home but still has that innate dog way of drawing you in to take care of him and see him as a family member. Dogs have such a way of both needing us to help them and giving us so much back in return whether that is laughs and cuddles or for some of us with more complex dogs, perspective and a mirror to our own hearts.”

I lost my first 2 babies earlier this year and this makes me cry so hard. I'm an adult in my 40s and I desperately want to be a mature adult in my 40s without crying every time I see two cats snuggled like this. After four months, we accidentally inherited a 10 yr old pudgy baby that I treat like blown glass for fear of losing her and falling apart and sliding back into in grieving depression rather than act like a mature woman in my 40s.
Even though around 4.1 million shelter animals are adopted each year and the number is steadily increasing, there are still some misconceptions lingering around it. One of them that Sayler mentions is believing that rescues automatically mean behavioral issues. “That is just not the case. It’s a very unfair and stressful situation to put a dog in a shelter, and even the most temperamentally stable dogs may struggle,” she says."

Flamingo said don't support "breeding," she didn't say euthanize them. But on another note, I'm even more against people intentionally breeding Munchkins. Intentional dwarfism in cats creates more deformation of their limbs beyond them simply being short - there are other deformations and malalignments in their leg structures, and no one has done any health studies. But they know the genetic error responsible combines 1 of 3 ways during breeding: the kittens will 1) have short legs, 2) have normal legs or 3) die in utero. To date these cats have only been studied genetically so scientists can figure out how to AVOID dwarfism in humans. If these cats were bred by scientists instead of some stupid woman from Louisiana in the 1980s, we'd all join PETA to burn down the labs. Just because humans think it's cute, is that enough to intentionally deprive a cat of its natural movement?

If a person looking for a pet has specific needs, like being fine around children, she suggests adopting from a rescue that tests dogs in different situations or fosters. “This is often the best way to know what dog would fit best in your family. Adopting from a rescue frees up a spot for a shelter dog to take.”

Reminds me of a cat we had many years ago. He used to hide behind the kitchen door, when guests arrived, but once my father brought his camera and the little Ham posed just like this sheep does, and forgot all about hiding.

Cats can start breeding as young as 14 weeks, they don't need to be fully grown. Early desexing, as early as 8 weeks, is far kinder.

Oh! ... is this the Youtube channel "Girl with the Dogs"? She does GREAT grooming work - and also it helps you really... REALLY appreciate why professional grooming for your pet costs as much as it does. Those groomers (if they are good, and don't just hose-n-go) need straight up hazard-pay.

This is a BP perennial with a funny story. Shoplifter with bird on shoulder is arrested, so the police put his bird in a cell since most police stations don't have bird cages, and he left with his human a few hours later. It was Dutch media that "protected" his identity.

My mom's cat got arrested. He broke into the grocery store and the owner turned him over to the cops, 90 kilometers away. Mom asked everybody (including the store owner) if they had seen her cat but no one had. Then she asked of Facebook and someone recognized the cat the cops had been posting about. She contacted the cops and was told that 2 more days and he would have been "Gone". It's better than the store owner killing him, but still...

We did domesticate cheetahs. Most of their genetic heritage is from domesticated stock. They went through a genetic bottleneck about 2000 years ago and mostly survive because of humans.

Russian Blue cats are actually gray---a gray that leans a little to the blue side, but not actually blue, like the sapphire color in this picture, so it has to be photoshopped.

We had 2 Great Danes. Some fellows went on a crazy car chase and ditched the car in the apartments behind our housing tract. The police were looking for them in everyone's backyard. The policeman put his head over our fence. The (7ft on hind legs) Great Dane jumped up and woofed directly in his face. And then we heard the officer scream "They're not at this one!"

The goat has medical issues - she’s blind, has neurological problems, anxiety… The lady who runs a goat rescue place was shopping near Halloween and thought the child sized costume would look cute on a goat so tried it on Polly and it calmed her down, kind of like swaddling a baby.

Unfortunately Polly has a few medical issues - she’s blind and has neurological problems, as well as anxiety. That’s why she’s wearing a diaper - it’s for medical reasons not part of the outfit. Polly is being looked after at a goat rescue centre. The outfit works like swaddling a baby and calms Polly down. The lady looking after her has a lot of experience with goats and isn’t just a crazy pet owner.
