Turns Out, There’s A Facebook Page With 390K Followers Called ‘Adult Problems’, And Here Are 50 Of Their Best Posts
We should have trusted Peter Pan when he said, "Never grow up." Growing up is a trap. That's what it is. Once one becomes an adult, some often unpleasant things become inevitable. Spending most of the time working and having little time for yourself and your family, living paycheck to paycheck; these are just some common adulting problems. And while we could grumble about all the dreary things that come with adulthood, we could also ignore them for a while and look at the funny side of things. Those are adult problems that (spoiler alert) are not, in fact, actual problems, or at least not something to worry about.
The Facebook page Adult Problems does precisely that. The page's content is all about sharing First World problems and silly problems adults face daily. Funny jokes for adults, self-deprecating humor, and sometimes actual problems adults encounter that many can relate to is what the posts featured on this page are about. In fact, being an adult is very much about knowing the difference between actual and trivial problems that can be laughed about and not taken seriously.
Hence, to chuckle about the latter, we compiled the adult version of the First World problems list, which is pretty much just a compilation of funny jokes about being an adult. Most of these could be combined, but there is a critical one missing. Basic law! We are all subjected to a legal system of which we know literally nothing about. Teach kids what the Miranda rights actually mean, what contracts can and can't do, basically all the ways you can accidentally destroy your entire life without knowing you're doing anything wrong.
Yes!! SO many life skills we could and should be teaching kids in school, how did we get so far off track? At least I learned that a2 + b2 = c2, that’s helped me a lot more in my life than any legal or financial planning education 🙄

Many of these topics have been taken care of by family, taught by parents in the past. The attitude towards school seems to have changed over the last years, often parents delegate the work that they have been doing/should do to the schools (e.g. because they are working and don't have the time, or because they don't know this themselves, or because they are lazy). School can't take care of everything, unfortunately.
I totally agree! The whole systems is dysfunctional. Both parents often are forced to work full-time while teachers are expected to master the difficulties of modern life on minimal wage and facing overwhelming numbers of pupils. In the last decades the classes got bigger and bigger, social problems skyrocketed (like broken homes, alienated parents, legal battles between parents... ). On top of those problems there is a rise in children with special needs (adhd, dyslexia...) and immigrant kids... All of those children are in desperate need of highly individualized support and care. Teachers on the other hand lack the education to deal with these troubled children, they are under pressure to drag every student through a premande plan, they are faced with growing classes and some parents are on top high-maintenance... My sister is pan elementary teacher and I myself worked briefly as one. You are always the a*****e in the public eye, you are desperate to meet all of the children's needs

A lot of these are taught to the less academic kids in my country. Unfortunately, those destined for university are too busy chasing grades.
And when are they going to teach basic sexual health education in class ? To at least know the biology of their growing bodies, prevent STD’s, and I know this may sound harsh but at least let young men know that menstruation isn’t something women can hold it until they go pee ? We have TWO holes guys and they do two different things ! Lol

Home Economics like I was taught 40 years ago covered some of this plus sewing buttons on shirts,, learning how to cook, shop for groceries, basic childcare …..and now many schools do NOT teach this. Why???? Because we need more money funneled to the school board’s salaries???
i was in work program in High School that was separate from the higher academic classes. Math was all about budgeting, taxes, insurance, stocks and bonds, etc. Career Ed. class was all about interviews, job searching, cover letters, resumes and 3 week onsite work stints for school credit 3 times a year at various types of businesses of your choice. Keyboarding class was all about improving accuracy and speed while typing. These were mandated to be in the program. English, History were normal. Phys Ed was all about nutrition, CPR, anatomy and what exercise does to the body. There might have been a little bit of self-defense but some moves are considered illegal in Canada, so it's more about knowing when to walk away, how to block and hold, that kind of thing. Despite what you learn in school, not everyone applies everything they learned in their adult years.

My senior year of HS I filled a needed math credit with a class called "Consumer Math". I thought it was going to be at least 3 if not 4 items on the list above. Turned out it was just "Bonehead math" for math fails that needed some math credit. Literally started with single digit addition and subtraction. Stuff I had in maybe 2n'd or 3rd grade. Fortunately teacher let me just show up once a week and turn in all the work. Easy A.
They used to teach a class that covered 2, 3, 4, 5, it was called economics. Yes, in high school.
I couldn't agree more, being a teacher myself, as well as a person who wishes I would have been taught those things when I was in school. Taxes still baffle me!

I would add logic and critical thinking. Teach them HOW to think, not WHAT to think.
Absolutely! The building blocks of being a productive adult member of society.... hopefully. One of the best things I ever learned was how to balance my checkbook. Before I went off to college, my mom or my dad would sit down with me, like 6 months before I actually left.. and taught me how to handle money. Balancing the check book, deposit, savings and withdrawal. I never bounced a check in my entire life, ever. That makes me proud. And, I check on my account/ our account at least 3X a week.
A lot of these are taught in personal finance. But unfortunately it's an elective class. Nutrition is taught in health class

Stop penalizing kids (and adults) for missing school or work because of illness or family emergency.
Nor is it the responsibility of anyone else to supply the things you can't afford. Teach your kids about the cost of living and give them your time and attention instead.

Exactly! People say “well if they don’t pay enough or value you, don’t work there, duh 🙄” but when people start standing up for themselves and refusing to work for s**t conditions it’s “nobody wants to work anymore, you’re all lazy.” We’re trying to change things here!

I use to do this. I liked it better. It's not just the time spent at work. It's also the time spent getting ready which includes enough sleep, clean clothes, bathing, time driving there and so on.

I swear some people never studied for the driver's test or even glanced at the book. EVERY. DAY. I encounter someone at a 4-way, who THEY got there 1st, and are to my right, so they should got 1st. Nope, they'll sit there and then wave me through.
Just happened to me and it is not fun. Fell off a ladder with a cabinet in my hands, went to hospital said I was ok, had two days off and was NOT OK, turns out I now have COVID so more days off and clients that are not happy.

Even when you wake up, your mind’s on work. Get home, eat dinner, do chores and you only have an hour to yourself. Depression sets in pretty quickly there. But if you try to bring it up, “oh kids these days are so lazy!”
My partner just turned 60 but is young for his age. His working week is 40 hours over 4 nights. He regularly does 5 or 6 nights if the giant worldwide internet based supplier of any item you wish to purchase needs extra staff. He walks over 20,000 steps per night so it’s keeping him fit but sleeps most of the day and we can’t enjoy the extra money the overtime pays because he’s at work at night and I work during the day. It’s all going into savings and huge gas and electricity bills!

for anyone who's also wondering: the little pipe in the big pipe is sucking air while fuel is pumped. When it can't suck air any more (because the fuel level touches the nozzle), it makes a springloaded ball drop inside that closes the valve.
My mom's a nurse. There were times growing up where we didn't see each other for an entire week even though we lived in the same house. When she worked night shift we never saw her. It's sad. She missed out on so much with us growing up and she's a single mom.
Adult equivalent is opening the fridge to stare inside to see if anything changed in the past hour.
My husband works in a restaurant. That means he works weekends. Period. It also means that the time he's scheduled to be off is approximate, not definite. In our almost 8 years of marriage, the number of times I've had to explain this to his buddy and his dad is stupid 🤦♀️
I have that guy. The radio was on today and he asked me if I remembered anything I did in 1995. I have a stupidly good memory but it was a big year for me as I graduated Uni, spent part of my summer in Greece then celebrated my 21st birthday. He started laughing and said he was still in high school with a few years to go. Then as he was leaving he wished me a merry Christmas as I won’t see him again until afterwards. Told him not to worry as even though I am on annual leave for most of the next 2 weeks I am still going to phone him every day, even on the weekends.

My friend got this worse. Her birthday was on Christmas, and it kinda sucked for everyone to go up to her and yell, ‘Hey girl, this random thing is the gift for your birthday, Christmas, and by the way Happy New Year ‘cuz you’re not getting anything new too!’ Which is why I am always deprived of money every Christmas to take her to eat cupcakes and birthday/Christmas stuff.
