In recent years, there’s been a growing sentiment online that everyone should “act their wage” while on the clock. If you’re barely making ends meet, you shouldn’t be expected to go above and beyond every single day. Follow protocol, and do what you need to do to avoid getting fired. But don’t burn yourself out for a minimum wage paycheck!
Some people, however, seem to have started slacking off a little bit too much in the workplace. Bored Panda has scoured the internet and gathered photos of jobs that were clearly completed by people who don’t have a care in the world. From refusing to follow directions to taking their instructions too literally, these pics probably resulted in a few people getting fired. Enjoy scrolling through these workplace fails, and be sure to upvote the ones that make you feel like you deserve a promotion!

My Boss Did This Impressive Work That I Had To Fix
I had brief but apprentice grade training in topiary and in recall, about 30% of it was "You have to step back and look at it as a whole on a regular basis."

Needed Some Blinds For Our Dark Room At Work The Guy Came To Measure The Window And Assured Us It Would Be 'Completely Dark' This Is What They Installed
I've recently dealt with more than 1 contractor who was this talented. I could've done better myself.
noooooooo! even if the size was right, it STILL wouldn't be suitable for a dark room
I'll never understand people hiring someone to do blinds. It's about the simplest thing you can do.
According to Talenlio, a whopping 85% of people report feeling disengaged at work. And considering the fact that we spend about one third of our adult lives working, hating all of those hours will likely decrease overall life satisfaction. When it comes to why exactly most workers quit their jobs, three quarters say that they were pushed to leave because of their boss rather than their actual position.
But plenty of employees also believe that their work just isn’t meaningful, so it’s hard for them to find any motivation. Other issues negatively impacting worker motivation are lack of recognition, a toxic work environment, lack of professional growth, a low salary, and lack of communication. Feeling like you’re alone in your company is never a good sign.
The Signs Are Up, Boss
🎵🎶 The restroom door said "Gentlemen" so I just walked inside. / I took two steps and realized I'd been taken for a ride. / I heard high voices turned and found the place was occupied. / By two nuns, three old ladies, and a nurse. What could be worse / Than two nuns, three old ladies, and a nurse? 🎶🎵 (Bob Rivers, Twisted Christmas, 1987)
Is the answer "ask the first door if the second door would say this door is the gents"?
You could have just put "gender neutral" but no you had to go cheap and use the signs you already had.
I encountered this once but with train signs. Each side of the track had signs indicating both directions were on it

I feel this picture. The peephole in my front door is 6 feet off the ground. I am five feet tall. 😒
My Hands Are Shaking
The hole behind the ceiling rose says to me that the light fitting got moved. No electrician is going to remove the rose and fix the damage and then plaster. Electrician most probably moved it and someome else will fix the mess when the rose is removed/moved. Just my guess
Now, if you’re a business owner or manager who supervises employees, it’s your job to ensure that they don’t become complacent at work. Blaming them won’t solve the problem, it will likely only increase employee turnover. Instead, Diversio recommends some strategies for getting your workers engaged in their roles.
First, they suggest conducting meaningful conversations with your workers. Provide feedback, and make sure that you understand how your employees are feeling. If you never check in with them, you might not be aware of how miserable they really are. It’s also a good idea to make each job intrinsically rewarding. This might require adding in some variety to each and every day, but it will be worth it if it boosts motivation and productivity.

Load More Replies...Another way bosses can motivate their workers is by recognizing and rewarding their hard work. Don’t act like working hard is just the expectation. Employees want to feel appreciated. And if you want to keep them around for years, it’s important that you don’t ignore their progress and growth. If they’re helping the company meet meaningful goals, they should know that the company has their back too.

At Least It's Done, Boss
Sad. This probably can't be repaired without risking damage to the tiles.
If the tiles were installed anywhere close to well (mechanical installation, not position of course) there's pretty much zero chance of removing them without damage. The alternative to avoid damage to the tiles would be to remove part of the wall and then remove the wall from the back of the tile. While possible, that would make no sense unless the tiles were no longer available and you absolutely had to have that design. It's not a huge pain in the ass to remove the two wrong pieces and replace them, but I'd assume you have to buy all 8 pieces as a set.
Load More Replies...Have you ever been worried that you were going to get fired? Depending on where you live, what kind of industry you work in and how long you’ve been in the field, you might be able to get away with a lot before your employer would consider cutting you loose. Perhaps there’s nobody else in the company who could handle your level of responsibility. Then you’ve got great job security!
But unfortunately, this isn’t the case for everyone. A survey from Airtasker found that over a quarter of workers will experience being laid off during their career. Meanwhile, over 15% of people say that they’ve been fired, and 17% admit that they’ve experienced both.
Boss: You Used The Cement Bags To Build The Wall, Right? Me: That's Correct! Boss: So What Happened To All The Empty Bags? Me: What Empty Bags?
I'm betting that the cement in these bags got wet and set before being used. Not a lot else to do with them, tbh.
Nope, a lot of walls are built using cement bags and they last. Now, the cement that they tried to seal the bags in with, that is the problem. I've never seen anyone do this as it would definitely fail as seen here.
Load More Replies...I saw an entire wall in Mexico built by neatly stacking cement bags like bricks and then soaking them with water. They looked like hell until the paper wore off and looked neatly planned afterwards.
Or they did. Instructions on most bagged concrete do note that you can leave the concrete in the bag, and wet it with water through the paper, to turn it into blocks.

When it comes to the most common reasons why employees get fired, Airtasker reports that personality conflicts are actually number one. Other reasons often cited are bosses being jerks, office politics, poor performance, budget issues, tardiness or poor attendance, being disliked by upper management, being underqualified, breaking office policy, and making too many errors. Also, over 40% of workers who have been fired admit that they deserved it. I wonder if any of the workers featured on this list would feel the same way…
Countertop's Done, Boss
I've seen this several times, and I can't figure out how somebody screwed up so bad. I can maybe understand somebody cutting the wrong angle (with the corner in the wrong place, no less), but I can't even begin to imagine how the mistake doesn't get caught. Even more puzzling because the sink cutout was probably done with a CNC machine that I'd expect to be programmed to cut either parallel to the front of a straight countertop or at a 45° angle to the back.
I think one of the last times I saw this on Reddit, someone noted that the customer had ordered the countertop, and cabinets separately through two different contractors. Something like one from Lowe's, one from Home depot. Regardless, the one doing the cabinets had worked out that the angle the customer wanted, wouldn't allow clearance for the door under that sink, and changed the angle. The countertop contractor, wasn't given that updated design, and had the countertop cut to the customer's original design.

Load More Replies...Now, we can’t all be star employees. There’s a pretty good chance that someone reading this article isn’t great at their job. And that’s totally fine! But you don’t want your performance to be so poor that you’re at risk of getting fired. So if you’re wondering whether or not you’re a valuable employee, Chris Williams, former VP of HR at Microsoft, shared some insight with Business Insider.
First, he notes that the easiest way to realize that you’re not doing well is by listening to the feedback from your manager. “If the feedback is specific, detailed, and — importantly — accurate, you need to listen. There really is an issue with your work,” he warns.

I Hate That I Have To See This Every Morning At Work
Next, Williams points out that hearing nothing about your work can also be a bad sign. Your manager might be giving up on you, or even avoiding you, as they make plans to push you out the door. “If you're being isolated from your manager and your peers, it's never a good sign,” he notes. “The silence is a sign of trouble every bit as much as a poor performance review.”
Finally, if you feel like you’re working too hard, that’s a bad sign too. “Most jobs are built to fill a day, not a life,” Williams says. “If you can't get your head above water, the problem is most likely you, not the job.”

That's actually a thing. Ex girfriend has one. This is based on an 8th century tradition started English missionary St. Boniface. It was also done later in Poland and parts of Europe, upside-down trees (called podłaźniczka) were hung from the ceiling, decorated with symbolic items like apples, nuts, and paper cutouts, representing the heavens or the cross.

I Know What Dairy Is, Boss
Exactly like every example of this (by way of explanation, it is bs): this means that it is made from caesinate, and so contains caesin (milk protein), so it's not safe for milk allergy sufferers, but it's lactose free. "Non-dairy" is a regulated label, but the regulations allow the label to be used on products that contain caesinates so long as it is labelled this way. Milk allergy sufferers must check anything with a "non-dairy" label. S/n: they must also check anything labelled "dairy free", because that is completely unregulated.
I didn’t know this. That’s actually interesting. Thank you!

I have lived in London for over 40yrs and never once seen this written as an instruction. We just stand on the right. We know this because it is part of every Londoners cultural heritage, along with shouting at tourists and Northerners who try and stand on the left...
But the instruction is written on signs on every stationary part of the escalator on most of the escalators on the tube. The corridors when interchanging lines also have freqent signs saying to walk on the left, and at least King's Cross St. Pancras has the instruction on audio. On the actual steps of the escalator is unusual, and this picture is badly photoshopped, but it's common as a written instruction with the exact wording "Stand on the Right" all over the network.
