Woman Tired Of Doing All The Housework, Stops Doing Chores, Watches House And Marriage Fall Apart

These stories are sad to me. I always hope that there is just some miscommunication, and that they can resolve things with some counseling. I am twice divorced myself, so maybe I just hope others will do better than I did. Obviously housework should be a shared task, and this guy has some very outdated ideas about gender roles. Hopefully for his sake he learns that it's not the 1950s anymore. White guys idealize that time period, but they tend not to take into account that they had it so good because everyone else had it so bad.

Agree to disagree. In my teenage years, you were subject to the whims of MTV or your local radio stations. I have so much more access to different types of music now. I listen to Reggaeton, Cumbia, Jazz, Classical, Pop, Japanese Metal, Korean Pop, Finish Metal, Cuban Salsa, Classic Rock, Bossa Nova, etc.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Are you talking about Obama declaring a national emergency in Flint Michigan to direct federal money to assist the local governments to clean up the contaminated water supply, or when he drank the water in Flint to bring attention to the situation? Or are you saying that because the problem was still ongoing when he left office, he didn't do enough to fix it. Unfortunately, back then, the President of the United States was held to the rule of law, and he couldn't unilaterally make a state or locality fix things that needed to be fixed. All the president could do was allocate federal resources for those places to ease the burden. But the situation in Flint was going to require a concerted local effort over many years.

Okay, Osama bin Laden wasn't just some old man sitting at home. He was the mastermind behind the mass m****r of over 3000 people. The remote death squad thing is true, and disturbing, but those people were at least in theory, enemy combatants. They weren't alleged d**g smugglers, where the last time I checked, running d***s is not a capital crime. I am not saying what Obama did was right, as I have a HUGE problem with it. But what we're doing now is an order of magnitude far worse. And we all know he won the Peace Prize for being not George Bush.

As a long-distance, highway commuter, I can say with conviction, that tailgating (following the vehicle ahead too closely for speed or conditions) has been the cause of 95+% of the hundreds of accidents I have seen during my 75 mile drives to and from work. Whether that tailgating is caused by distracted driving (texting etc) is debatable. It seems to me, to be just a level of impatience and entitlement. I guarantee, if you are on my tail, I WILL get you off of it.

My ex's father did something similar for my ex and his sister - he grew up in very rural, very poor post-civil-war China. Worked his heiny off there, emigrated, worked his heiny off here (two jobs while attending school, ended up an engineer, STILL worked two other jobs while an engineer for Boeing.) This is ABSOLUTELY the way to do it, especially when you're doing it for your kids/grandkids. I'm sorry your son lost his grandpa last year, but sounds like he left a good legacy behind :)

I'm sorry, friend. I was in the same place you were through my entire childhood and young adulthood with my mother (I never escaped her, and I attempted su!cide seriously twice, stopped myself at the last second because of my cat.) I can tell you that my mother is now 80, about to turn 81, and she thinks she was a great mother. If I ever try to tell her about any of the abúse, she immediately goes into this dramatic yelling fit of "Oh, so I was a TERRIBLE mother, I KNOW, blame me for EVERYTHING" (which is true, but not what I was trying to tell her, I was just trying to talk to her gently about it.) She will never change, and it is unlikely your mother will either :( Even though your mother may have "found religion", she may just be using it as a cover for any bad feelings she has of guilt or shame. Which means she doesn't actually care that she hurts you, she just doesn't want to feel bad HERSELF that she hurt you. You can try talking to her and couching it as an absolution.

This reminds me of my own similar experience. My mother was a hysterical, abus1ve parent who used to yell at me, belittle and beat me for anything, even for the smallest trifles (for ex. if I spilled a glass of water). And this happened daily. She once beat me so badly that my face was full of blood. One evening, I was in bed and I started crying uncontrollably. She heard me and snapped at me: "stop it or I'll give you reasons to cry". I lied to her that I had had a bad dream. In reality, I was crying because I wanted to d1e. I couldn't take being treated like that anymore, and I was making plans for su1cide. I was 9 years old. (I did have an attempt shortly after, but somebody unknowingly stopped me). Currently I am LC with her for many years already; she is now a very religious person. She said she was sorry but she is not able to process how badly she damaged me. And I still wonder if I should tell her about it, or take the secret to my grave.

My ex father in law grew up a poor black man in the South during Jim Crowe. He worked as a janitor for a police station his whole life. A really great guy, did everything he could for his kids. His daughter, my ex, worked her b**t off too, and with his help, got herself through law school. When her father passed away last year, he had saved $20K to help his only grandchild go to college. I had already put away $70K for him. Which at his state school is enough for. So instead, his mom is putting that money towards a payment for his first home. Something his grandfather never achieved. That is what investing in the future generations is for. I am an immigrant, and came here with no wealth, but my son will graduate from college with no debt, and have a headstart on life. This is how we build generational wealth.

I'd have to say Glam Rock (in the UK, 1970s). T-Rex, Bowie, Roxy Music, Slade, Mud... the list goes on. Happy days. Yeah, some of it was cheesy, but mostly it's stood the test of time and figures large in the Classic Rock genre today. Oh, and it also gave rise to the Rocky Horror Show, so there's that too.
