Our team at Bored Panda has compiled a list of photos featuring some of the most epic Black Friday fails ever. From stores ransacked by customers hunting for the biggest sales to companies trying to pull the wool over crazed shoppers’ eyes, there’s a bit of everything. Scroll down for a taste of what discounts can do to someone if they’re not careful.

A Black Friday "Bargain"
A lot of Black Friday deals are like that. Still people fall for it. Or they are selling an older model or deal is less good than a previous deal.
Here, in poor little Hungary, the Economic Competition Authority has taken a serious interest in such fraud and is handing out huge fines to the offending shops. They not only check price labels, they can even check previous sales data.
If I recall, JC Penny and Best Buy both got hit with class action lawsuits for doing that.
In some places they have to show the price from 30 days earlier, so consumers can compare. Not sure how effective this is though as I doubt anyone monitors the prices in the first place
My Local Macy's Store After Black Friday Sale
Where do you even start to clean that up? I think I would just quit my job.
People commenting that the youth are so lazy about cleaning that s**t up... perhaps if people didn't behave like animals and create that mess because they don't have to clean it up, there would be less complaints. But USA pretends to be grateful for all they have on Thursday then become a pack of rabid beasts the next day leaving a trail of destruction in their wake, including physical fights and people literally stealing stuff out of the hands of kids. Have a f*****g word with yourself before you say youth are lazy.
Like that in our store, not quite as bad, but close most days. Basically, 99% of customers are arseholes.
You never saw what my dog did after she found a roll of paper towels.
Load More Replies...Primark every Saturday... I don't even try to buy women's clothes there anymore, you'd never find anything in all that mess, and half the stuff is dirty from being flung on the floor.
My Friend Saw A Baby Being Born At A Walmart On Black Friday
Which deal was it you were after mam? Number 4? I'll make sure a manager puts one aside for you.
Load More Replies...Look at the people just standing around gawking. At least the person taking the picture took it from this angle and not another.
It seems, but o think may be is holding the crowd to not enter with the shopping cart (edit: wrote crow and then realized that not have any sense and I pictured the image and laughed out loud)
Load More Replies...The National Retail Federation reports that 196.7 million Americans shopped in stores and online during the five-day holiday in 2022, from Thanksgiving Day to Cyber Monday.
That’s more than the jaw-dropping 179.8 million shoppers in 2021, 186.4 million in 2020, and 189.6 million in 2019.
When You're At The Hospital And It Dawns On You That Today Is Black Friday
I'm curious as to where their money/card is being kept on themselves?
Im guessing the entertainment really sucks and they decided to grab something to pass the time?
At least they left i.v. pole at hospital. No maybe he should have brought it to. So he could fight off to get bargains all for himself.
Looks like that poor fellow misunderstood the term “Black Friday.” (Don’t hate me! How else to explain why a HOSPITAL PATIENT is out SHOPPING?!)
People Who Do This
In America this gets you a "Have a nice day, sir". Everywhere else it's "You are banned for life. Please leave immediately." Some retail workers I know would even add "...after you have cleaned up this mess".
As a New Zealander, the ironic thing is that because we have less of a problem with bad customers (though this is not necessarily because the companies are much good at dealing with them), the good customers get treated better than in the US because the staff aren’t so burned out.
Load More Replies...This is why i book any sales days off as holidays. I dont get paid enough to deal with, and clean up after, total douchebag arseholes.
I was a manager for target and ny&co, the women's clothing store was this and worse. Don't even get me started on people defecating in fitting rooms!

Black Friday At Walmart
The line decided to cross the street, blocking traffic. It extended down the parking lane rather than turning down the sidewalk like normal human beings.
Listen i get to go stand outside as a guard at walmart in 30 minutes dont give me a heart attack x3
I'm waiting for the news reports about people being shot for butting in line or fighting over merchandise.
They need some Brits there to act as queue supervisors.

Some people have no self-awareness. As someone with huge social anxiety (meaning in a nutshell, too-much social awareness with the anxiety turned up to 11) this kills me. Get out of the road you coconut meatballs, do you not have enough self awareness to actually realize you’re standing in the road and traffic needs to move past you?! Only takes the one last person in line to make an angle and turn the line along the sidewalk. I would be mortified if I was the reason traffic couldn’t move in the damn parking because I was standing in the middle of the road blankly staring at my phone.
Load More Replies...I can't imagine wanting something so badly that I would wait in line for it. I don't understand this kind of zealous consumerism...
Broadly speaking, Black Friday tends to be (one of) the busiest shopping days of the year in the US… as well as in some other parts of the world. However, you’d be wrong to think that Black Friday begins and ends on… well, Black Friday.
The shopping ‘holiday’ has a tendency to ‘bleed’ into the surrounding weeks… and even months (yes! Months!).
This Epic Black Friday Deal
Canada doesn’t even use pennies anymore so this would be straight up insulting 😭
Load More Replies...I found Just Dance 2023 Edition for literally ONE penny off in an “up to half price sale” once 🤦♀️ The same shop also later said that the £29.99 game used to be £49.99 with a new sale sticker.
One needs to remember that zero and for that matter negative numbers are still in the range of "up to". For instance, this isn't a false statement "Up to 50% off, get this normally priced item of $10 for $100". It would be a false statement if you got the $10 item for $3.
Load More Replies...What A Great Black Friday Deal
At least put the new price over the old one...they're not even trying.
When I worked in retail, the workers were the ones who put the price tags on. So I am choosing to interpret this as the workers going rogue and putting them like this on purpose so that customers won’t fall for the scam.

Pure corporate greed. It's probably hanging on a rack that has a 25% off sign on it. 🤣
I Captured The Essense Of Black Friday In One Picture
Just curious. They do not offer free deliveries over there in the US? Here, anything that does not fit inside a car usually comes with free delivery so long the distance is less than 50km radius from the store.
Depends where you get it from some places offer to ship it to your house for free and some might have you pay a shipping charge and sometimes the charge might be more than what you paid for the product explaining the picture.
Load More Replies...Didn’t think that went out did you? I guess you also failed at the game as a child where you put square blocks and square holes and round blocks and round holes.
I had to load a car like this one time while I was working at Target. The woman only lived a short distance from the store. STILL..
I m concerned of where is this . A cop see you driving like this and you are pulled down inmediatally
For instance, the Monday right after Black Friday is known as Cyber Monday. Retailers and companies continue to sell products and services at a discount. Some of them go further, celebrating Cyber Week.
Others, however, go even beyond that.
My Partner Ordered Our First Ever "Big Purchase" On The Black Friday Sale. Apparently, The Delivery Guy Dropped It Down The Stairs And Ran
Hopefully they weren't the same person who received rice instead of a security camera. :)
Load More Replies...I'm at the point of recording the receiving and opening of packets because of this. If I have video proof of just opening the box and setting up everything, they can't then say "it's your fault because you did something wrong".
My husband did this because what he ordered was broken when he opened it, so when he received the free replacement, he wanted to prove he did nothing wrong.

Not necessarily. Goods have a very high transport chain. It could be the forlift man, fell in one truck, in the container that came from Asia etc etc etc
Or perhaps broken at the warehouse then placed in the box and shipped like that! That happened to me 4 months ago! I'm still waiting for my refund Amazon!

No, they need a better policy for returned merchandise.

SCAM warnings this week tell of websites that are identical to the real one with duped customers receiving cheap knock off's, something weighing about the same (e.g. rice in a camera box) or receive nothing at all. Links to the scam site could appear in emails, on social media sites or as search results from Google, bing, etc.where scammers are paying to get their ad higher on the search engine results.
Someone returned it and they didn't check that the item was actually in there.

CNN reports that in 2023, retailers “threw out the playbook,” rolling out deals in a similar vein as Black Friday weeks in advance. What this means is that this year, the impact of Black Friday itself might be lessened.
After all, if you’ve already hunted down the best deals of the season in advance, you might not want or need anything else. If you bought a new laptop/TV/console, you don’t need a second one.
Here In Brasil There's No Black Friday But Only Scam
My MIL called us excited saying she thought she’d won a million dollars. A guy called her saying she needed to buy gift cards to pay for the taxes on her winnings. They wanted $2500 and we told her the taxes on a million USD would be a lot more than $2500 and in gift cards? To this day she still thinks we stopped her winning a million.
They think all people are stupid. They aren't wrong. So many dumb people now they out number people who know how to use their brains.

FedEx "Efficiency". I Live In Oregon And Ordered This Package On Black Friday
They needs go go to all 49 states for it to bee good..! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoWc6WRHKEE 🙃
Load More Replies...Cargo flights, nothing special here. Happens with most stuff ordered online. They bundle the items according to destination and available flights, and ground storage space is scarce and expensive. It is cheaper and more efficient to bounce it back and forth, instead of leaving it in San Francisco to wait for a truck or plane to the main distribution centre in Oregon. As long as kerosine is that cheap, this will be the procedure to go. One COULD of course order it from a local shop and ask for delivery, if it is not possible to pick it up yourself.
We ordered something and it went past our town three times, going hundreds of miles north and south, before showing up on our doorstep. Watching it, was more entertaining than the product.
It’s a set route they fly repeatedly. If you want a custom route, we will all have to pay more.
I've noticed this trend for the last 10 yrs...so NOT EFFICIENT... effective FAIL FedEx

According to Parija Kavilanz from CNN, the November and December months account for around a fifth of retailers’ sales for the entire year. This means that the gift-buying season is incredibly important for companies’ sales and profits.
Retailers who fail to take advantage of the seasonal rush might find that they’re far behind their competitors.

What A Steal
Huh? Someone designed that, someone printed that, and someone hung it up. And yet none of these people thought there was an issue....
Yessss. A retail store I used to work for would do this on all the sale days "BIG SALE! HUUUUGE, YOU'LL NEVER BELIEVE IT! SOME ITEMS ARE 75% OFF!!!!" Pack of gum, a pencil, a blade of grass. Everything else is discounted a dollar or two.
Think someone put the new price on the wrong side. But not even the penny off is actually 5%.
Once on TV I saw an example of sale madness. Some chocolate bars were "reduced" to 25 Swedish crowns for 3 on a large yellow "sales sign". A single bar cost 8 crowns. When they asked people who bought 3 why they did so, almost half of them answered that it was because is was a bargain.
This Chair I Was Going To Buy Was £169.99 A Few Hours Before Amazon's Black Friday "Sale" Started
We just bought this chair at BJ's for $69.99 two weeks ago...it was $100 off and the sale had nothing to do with Black Friday. Black Friday is just so silly.
Amazon is charged with over pricing tons of customers right now, do your homework before you buy.
Marshal Cohen, the chief retail industry analyst with market research firm Circana, told CNN that Black Friday is now more akin to ‘Grey Friday.’ “The dilution of the power of Black Friday has begun again this year. Gone is the sense of urgency and excitement. But the quest for value is still there,” the specialist explained.
As the shopping ‘holiday’ spreads out over a longer period of time, what this means, in practical terms, is that there’s less urgency for shoppers to rush to their local retail stores. Though you’ll still find people camping and queuing up before opening time and fighting over goods, this year, all of this might be slightly muted (well, comparatively). There’s slightly less competition.
Deals Like This
Costco sales are unbeatable right now. They're next to the tires, in case you were wondering.
Caskets and hot food in Costco are the only products in the whole store that aren't cheaper elsewhere. In my country.

This is sad, but I don't see how it has anything to do with when you bought it.
What’s also changed the dynamic of Black Friday is the continued growth of online shopping. This makes deals incredibly accessible to anyone with a smartphone, a computer, and an internet connection.
When you’re offered awesome deals with (hopefully, insured) delivery straight to your door, why would you want to risk being crushed by several hundred other shoppers at a physical store? Convenience is a huge factor here.
Black Friday, The One Day Saving 30 Bucks Is More Important Than Your Baby's Well Being
I mean…..from the perspective of a mother, stuff like this happens. It’s either this, don’t buy it, attempt to push a stroller and a cart at the same time, or ask someone to go with you. I’ve done the stroller w/cart method because of judgements from others like those shown here. BTW, those judging never offered to help me. Babywearing isn’t an option for some of us and we still have s**t to do while caring for our children alone. The baby looks safe in the carrier made to withstand the impact of a car accident and Mom is standing right infront of them. I’m more concerned about that box hitting mom in the face, or go crashing to the ground. Sometimes saving money on gifts, groceries, clothing, formula, or any other item commonly purchased by parents ends up looking like this. If the photographer cared at all about the safety of the baby, they would offer to carry the box on top. Instead, they’ve chosen to shame someone and blast the picture on the internet.
I would have helped you, I have been in this position. But I will say that offers to help are few and far between these days. Not sure why but things have changed.

Black Friday? For too many people in this country, that's "Any day ending in 'Y'!"
My Friend Ordered Two Fitbits During The Amazon Black Friday Sale, But Got Paper Plates Instead
Just curious - is there any laws that obligate suppliers to deliver promised products to a buyer, or can they simply deny to give any compensation or just anything in general in situations like this? There should be, I think there are, but I'm no expert in that
I’m pretty sure the Consumer Guarantees Act in my country does say that, but then again my country also has public healthcare, maternity leave, and full wages for restaurant servers, so.
Load More Replies...Amazon did this to me...July 29, 2023...placed an order $80.00 USD. Less than 24 hrs later, I tried to cancel the order, was told it was in shipping. Package arrived August 4, 2023. Waited thru the weekend for the UPS store to open to return the package - I NEVER OPENED IT! - UPS noticed the "pristine condition" the package was in upon the return, August 7, 2023. I was refunded $3.71 USD 😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬😡 Amazon told me that because it was "third party seller" that I needed to contact the seller, GreatStore2017, for my refund. Upon contacting this seller, I'm told that the product was damaged?! The seller provided 2 PDF photo files that never opened, just kept loading 🤨🤔😡🤬 I asked how that was possible as I never opened the package. They sent me a message saying they received my return August 1, 2023 but because the item was damaged they only refunded $3.71 USD...Amazon has not done anything, they consider it a closed matter. Amazon and GreatShop2017 are ripoffs

When You Go Shopping On Black Friday But Forget Your Child's Stroller
My brothers and I would have loved this when we were little lol
Load More Replies...They probably didn't bring a stroller because they don't use one for the kid anymore? And then kid decided that it was not a working day for the legs after all and they wanted to be in the cart-thing? My kids' legs will sometimes just go on strike or whatever. And then the kids will demand to be carried or to be in the cart.
People try that in my store. I warn them for unsafe use of the basket. They usually swear at me, and then i have a reason to bar them from the store.
Well not hurting anyone but, I would leave baby home or,would have gotten a sitter.
CNN notes that some retailers may be worried about rising prices, higher interest and mortgage rates, and Americans having to restart repaying their student loans which were frozen for many during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This means that some companies respond by turning Black Friday into a massively long event, hoping to draw in more customers.
Target Has These Up All Over Their Electronics Section. Guess Which Games Are Specifically Excluded From The Offer
Just one singular Card Against Humanity. Not the whole game, just one single card.
Also bevare of ads stating a very attractive price but in much smaller print says "from". And only one of the things in the picture is that price.
Nintendo is almost always excluded from that sale. I worked at Target in the electronics section for 3 years, and I would never put it in the Nintendo section. Whoever did this earlier wasn't trained right, doesn't care or is too swamped with work to notice. When I worked there things were changing and almost everyone who had been there for 10+ years quit after my first year.
Yeah, Sam Ash and Guitar Center do this all the time. Ad states "50% off everything!" and in small print "some exclusions apply*" In really small print next to the * is a list of damn near every manufacturer that they sell.
More like no choices. There isn’t anything actually free
Load More Replies...Black Friday Scam
This is not a scam. It says on the tag that the higher price is the one "on the market". It just means that their regular price is lower than the one on other stores.
If the price has gone up everywhere else, but this store is keeping the lower price for a while, then its not a scam, just highlighting the price. Basic common sense (which is why 99% of people would disagree)
Such A Great Deal. Amazon vs. Manufacturer's Retail Price
I've been waiting to buy this on Amazon, assuming there would be some sort of Black Friday discount. But no, the price stayed at $150, but they added a crossed-out price, which is even higher than the actual manufacturer's suggested retail price.
I always try to buy from the manfacturer's websites. It usually is cheaper and lots of less hassle in case of problems. The more people need to earn money between manufacturer and customer, the more expensive a product gets. If not, something in this chain isn't right.
i was trying to buy a new fork for my bike from amazon. i failed the first purchase (i got the wrong size) and almost failed the second time (my bike don’t have a cone tube) but didn’t actually purchase it. i gave up on ordering online, and turned to my friend whose family owns a bike shop nearby. i got the fork for $255, $50 cheaper than amazon and i got the fork 2 days after paying him.
Load More Replies...Don't people search the internet for prices when they wish to buy something? It takes maybe 10 minutes to google a handfull of shops, and find the cheapest. Or the best, if you are not sure which to buy.
I've been saying this for a very long time, that Amazon isn't the cheapest anymore. Now that they are almost everyone's first choice store, they inflate the prices, because they know that most people think they are still the cheapest. I don't think I have seen any advertisement, that claims they are. The pandemic only made the problem worse. I remember when they sold primarily books and I was a frequent customer then. Now that it's so easy to be able to order almost anything and get it (frequently) within a day or two, it's most people's default.
Amazon is ripping ppl off in more ways than you'd ever think they would, per Order Every Order
Wait, can someone help my blonde a*s. Left says original price was $189,99, on Amazon, marked down to $149.99. Right says $149.99 on a different website, marked down to $119.99. Did OP pay $149.99 and is now sour they didn’t check out other deals on the products they wanted, or is something else going on?
The upside for shoppers is that they get access to better deals for longer and have to compete less with others. The downside is elementary fatigue: if it’s always sale season, then it doesn’t matter much.
In the meantime, BBC Worklife notes that Black Friday has become shorthand for any deep-discount shopping event, whether it happens in October or… July!

My Friend Ordered Two Elgato Game Capture Cards At $180 On Black Friday, And Amazon Sent Him Two Empty Boxes
Most common cause for this is actually Amazon's return policy - or the human tendency to use it for scams. People order the game, demand a refund, send back the empty case as a product, looking unopeened, and some underpaid workers restock them without opening. When a later customer orders, they are sent out again.
They got liberated before they got to you. Also Amazon asks for you to prove you didn't get it. If anyone knows the answer pls tell me. To many stupid people ruin it for honest people.

No amount of gold connectors or super insulated cables are going to make a bit of difference - even older cables can still work to the new spec.
I sure hope they bought the extended warranty and the 3 year protection plan for that cable that does exactly what a $7 cable will do.
Wow. If you have more than two brain cells you would first look up the difference, conduct a bit of research and buy the exact same thing for like $20
HDMI cables are digital. They either work or they don't. There's no better.

Black Friday In Portugal
First picture shows €719.99 instead of €899.99. There is a possibility that the second picture is something like €599.97 instead of €649.99 or something. It is possible that the picture was cut or not taken properly. EDIT: Especially that the description shows 4GB RAM, 64GB memory and features like dual sim. It just does not seem like a store would raise the price from 50 to 600 for an item.
I think the yellow labels were hidden underneath. So they price is the same, but the new price label quotes a crossed-out higher price it was not being sold at.

Select your country, then either search for the item or paste the URL for the page you're looking at in the search engine and it'll display a graph showing the timeline and price changes since that item first appeared on Amazon. Can easily tell if the deal is what it says it is.
Shame Haemorrhoid treatment isn't on offer as people will need it having been well and truly f****d in the a*s by so called sales and deals.
Even if I could get things cheaper... It's not worth going through all that
this is just vulgar consumerism... this type of consumerism is what is destroying our planet. stop the disgust, save your children's future.
A new law in Europe requires that if a product is marked as reduced price, the median price for the last 30 days must be on show. This lead to a situation where prices are raised just for the 30 day period to then make up the "sale" price. Who would have known? 🤷♀️
That was law in Ireland over 30 years ago - but who's going round photographing the prices and comparing?

Khols is the worst. If you buy anything real price you are getting ripped off. The actual price is the sale price. You didn't save 60%. That's the actual price. The rest of the time it's just jacked up.
