I know I am going to get downvoted for this but I am on the side of the OP. Your sister in law's problems are her problems not yours. While I am all in favour of making reasonable adjustments to accommodate other people, expecting you to put a newly adopted dog into kennels for her visit is not what I would consider reasonable. I fully understand and sympathise with trauma and the anxiety it causes, I have been there myself, but expecting everyone to adapt and adjust to accommodate her is neither reasonable or fair. If she is unable or unwilling to get help and treatment for her mental health then she needs to accept that there are things that she won't be able to do if they are triggering for her.

YES! Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I’m so happy this is at the top where everyone can see what Christianity is SUPPOSED to look like. I go to a church where everybody is like what you describe. There’s no judging, they’re all kind, it’s a good support group. You grow closer with God. And often Christians (the ones I’m around anyway) are the ones who are less hypocritical than everyone else because they know they’re sinners and not perfect, but try to be good people to everyone, no matter what.

This is one that kept me from Christianity for so long. Turns out you can be Christian and listen to secular music (just be aware of what you're listening to), watch secular TV and even have things like tattoos and piercings (I have neither). You don't become perfect for being Christian. You're only trying to live as Christ did, but only he was 100% perfect. We as humans still fall short everyday but having the salvation that comes with knowing Christ died for our sins, that is what true Christianity is about.

However, if you tell me at that point you don't want to talk about religion, I won't, as far as it has to do with you. Yesterday, I noticed that a toad had dug himself a hole in a basket of wildflower seeds I had planted, underneath a bleached turtle shell that I found by the creek in the woods. Too many parents get their emotional needs met through their kids. Children are better off all-around when their parents' relationship with each other is prioritized.
