What the f**k is wrong with people to shitstorm someone because they think their 80$ bag is wonderful? Not to start with that luxury is anyway relative, this is just s****y behavior and all of these haters mother's should be ashamed of what horrible people they set into this world.

I went with my husband to Las Vegas on a "business" trip. I lasted 10 minutes with all the clanging, the bells ringing, the machines gonging (the casinos are EVERYWHERE). Within a day, I'd rented a car and driven into the mountains surrounding Vegas. I had a fabulous day. I found a ski hotel, sat outside and had breakfast, watching people ski, drove more and found a beautiful log hotel in the middle of nowhere and had a lovely lunch and a drink. The quiet up there was mesmerizing. Then I had to drive back into the noise and racket of a town built by greed and gambling addictions. It was pathetic coming down for morning coffee seeing people sleeping at their slot machines (as I said, you can't get away from the gambling).

Agreed. The instant you step off the resort, there is a line of poor people trying to sell you their grandmother. The funniest was a guy who supposedly needed cash for his surgery, and help up an x-ray to prove it. I've seen many x-rays, unfortunately for him, and it was dated about 15 years previously. Honestly? It's a nuisance because you can't see or do ANYTHING without these people swarming you trying to get your money.

With a rare exception, I find ALL US cities are the same, faceless, all cars, no pedestrians, massive malls, fast food places everywhere - really uninteresting. The only city that's the exception is San Francisco. THAT is a pretty city with a lot of walking places and fascinating areas to visit.

Same here. I'm a female born in 1950! I was expected to always wear dresses, have my hair curled nicely, and behave like a lady. What was worse was my mother was very "Victorian" in her outlook. Me? I was a total tomboy. I caught garden snakes and brought them into the house, I climbed trees, fell out of them, rode my bicycle downhill so fast I nearly killed myself. My mother finally gave up and put me in denim jeans in out-of-school hours because I destroyed everything decent that I owned. And - I was a tomboy until I was over 18! Then I decided it wouldn't be a bad thing to date a nice looking guy I knew. LOL!

The whole thing comes down to plain GREED. The drivers/waiters want a tip because the restaurant owner is too greedy to pay them a living wage. Tipping should be banned, because it's getting so that service people expect a tip and give crappy service if the customer doesn't tip. These people have a job to do. They need to do it, and not expect everyone to supplement their income because their boss doesn't pay them enough. I don't mind tipping, but the percentages are going up to the point, where I hardly eat out any more, and when I order food, I go and get it. I don't want to be shamed for not tipping, so I won't be. Tips used to be 10%, then went up to 15%. Now they're 20%! Next thing you know you'll be expected to pay double! It's getting stupid and I think it should stop. I repeat - this is becoming pure greed by everyone but the customer.

That was unkind. There IS a trauma of isolation for the kind of people who desperately need people. I'm not one of them. I found the pandemic didn't change my lifestyle at all. LOL! However, I know of several suicides caused by the fear and isolation, and if THAT isn't a trauma, then I don't know what is. So YOU do a bit of growing up and gain some compassion.

Have a look at Mike Rowe's site. He has scholarships for people who want to go into the trades. Tradespeople get well paid, even better paid these days because there is such a shortage of skilled people, they also graduate with a lot less debt, and own their own homes by the time they hit their late 20s. Unless you absolutely know what you want to do and be, and it includes university, then give the trades a try. There's a certain pride in getting your hands dirty (or not) for good money.

It's not one upping anyone by keeping private information private. If you are the type who doesn't care about privacy, then fine, but most people do, and discussing your income, or personal family worth, (especially with basic strangers) is considered tacky to most people.

Then she was completely ignorant of social norms, of which she grew up in the same culture. Sorry, but she seemed unable to read the room. It should have been obvious to her that people were uncomfortable with her comment, but she didn't catch on. Therefore, I'd suggest she was one of two things, 1) just rude and mouthy or 2) she WAS a bit autistic or an aspie, in which case, she should get a diagnosis from a professional. If she does not, she will become a very unpopular lady.

Corporations & the rich don't want well-educated people, they know how to think, ask questions, & make decisions for themselves. College used to be inexpensive enough that almost anyone could afford to go. As people learn they refuse to be used & abused. They question & start unions & become independent. So the rich & corporations raised the cost of education, went to colleges to give everyone a credit card or two or three so between loans that are almost impossible to pay-down & credit card debt, most college grads are broke & in debt & owned by the very people who set this system up.

A doctor told me, "Im trying to help you live longer." Woman, I have a chronic condition that puts me in pain every. Single. Day., will eventually cause one or more organs to fail and will be on my death certificate as contributing cause of death. That is my reality and I have learned to deal with it. For the love of God, can we stop trying to get me to live longer in agony and concentrate on quality of life instead of quantity. Thank You! This dr gets it!

Oh good grief - how to say one lives in the US without having to say that one lives in the US! That out of the way, the decision on who lives in your home is yours, and your wife's, and no-one else's. Your parents are calling you an a$$h&*e because of guilt/relief that they aren't in a position to help your sister. Not sure they would if they could, though it's a great excuse. You are giving her $500/month and she's still calling you names? Wow. You're a much nicer person than me. If I was doing that, and got called names, I'd simply go NC. and - no money. That would really tick me off. But then there are times when I don't feel very much like a nice person.

Let's say this is a fairly reasonable portrait. I attended an Aramaic church for a few years; most of the people there were from the West Bank, or Syrian. I've also seen several Lebanese congregations. Not sure which social construct you're using to define "white," but this guy fits in fine. And no, these folks have no German or other European blood in them; their families all trace back thousands of years. (Aramaic is the language Jesus spoke.)
