From the adorable pooch soundly sleeping in your lap to the fish and amphibians roaming the waters, every animal plays an important role in our environment and human wellness. Interacting with them helps our health, both physical and emotional. And their existence alone keeps our world and its environment and ecosystems running smoothly, without us really realizing it in our day-to-day lives.
Animals truly do so much for us, and we’re here to remind you of that with a list of the most adorable creatures from the “Chonky Woofers For My Depression” Facebook page. Scroll down to find them, and don’t forget to upvote the ones that made you crack a smile or two.

The advantage of having a deaf dog. She loves fireworks
Load More Replies...I think fireworks should be banned EVERYWHERE. Even the new "silent" fireworks scare and kill birds. Hoomans do such stupid things without thinking of anything beyond themselves - just because it is "tradition".

Yessssss. I'm sorry but I hate fireworks, so loud, expensive and pointless. So many pets go missing during the 4th of July (in the US obviously) and new years.
He slept tight after having had a long satisfying w*nk in front of a crowd of children. Scarborough N Yorks, not such a small town.
A robin's nest got blown out of a tree at my mother's house. We put all the debris into a basket and hung it from the tree. Momma Robin raised four babies in our basket. It was adorable.
I appreciate the use of black zip ties – the white ones would have gone brittle and fallen apart over time.
Since animals do so much for us, we at least should try to give some of that back. We can do so by being kind to them, taking action to help those already around us, and minimizing our individual impact on wildlife and industrial animal cruelty.
The first obvious step we can take to improve animal welfare, as suggested by the Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA), is to adopt. Many adorable creatures enter shelters every day, and they definitely deserve a second chance at having a warm, loving home.
My 10+yo dog likes to sleep on my legs. I made her this out of some of my old jeans for her to sleep on while I’m at work.
The first couple of times I had to board my dog at a kennel for a day (3-month checkups) I'd always leave a recently worn and unwashed T-shirt with him. Once he got used to being at the kennel it was no longer necessary.
Lol, I know the names of all my neighbor's dogs and cats, but not one of my neighbor's names.
If you don’t have the conditions to house an animal long-term, a great alternative is pet fostering. Foster caregivers help shelters double the number of animals they can rescue by giving them the best possible place to wait for their permanent home. All a person has to do to become one is love animals and be willing to learn. No previous animal experience is needed.
Of course, it’s worth mentioning that the longer they spend time with the animal, the harder it will be to part with them. So just keep in mind that pet fostering can end up with a furry fella in your home (but who would complain?).
In case fostering is not your cup of tea, you can try volunteering at an animal shelter. Thanks to volunteers, HRA can save 100,000 animals every year across their DC and New Jersey campuses. These contributors help with a variety of tasks, like training and caring for the animals, going for a walk in the park, helping them find new homes, and supporting community and special events. Many shelters would be very glad to have you if it’s something you might consider doing!
Wouldn't that be a great job to have? Going around taking photos around the country.
I would search for this place in the world just to see the dog
Boyes as in male bees, or just bees? Cause the working ones are female.. 🤓🤓🤓 and the male are drones, they do not work.. 🤓🤓🤓
Load More Replies...Okay, who else wants to start a movement to officially rename bees to angryflies?
I once read the term "angry sky raisin" (on someone's post about how their dog had eaten a bee and had gotten stung inside their mouth) and that is the only term I can think about when I see them now XD And flies are regular "sky raisins", of course.

A financial donation is also more than welcome. Often, animal rescues rely on the community to cover the expenses of everyday supplies and daily operations. Shelters additionally post wishlists on their website full of things they need the most at their facilities. So if you are too busy or unable to foster or volunteer, this can be a great way to help the creatures in need.
they dont have any natural predators where they live so are not scared of humans
When they run from creditors they throw their babies from the pouch at them to slow them down and give them a chance to escape
Load More Replies...$300 fine for touching them, higher for feeding them. Please don't touch or feed the Quokkas. Their lack of fear of humans is already a problem.
The quokka is a small wallaby native to southwestern Australia. It belongs to the macropod family, which includes kangaroos, wallabies, and related species.
The humans were all saying it, now the animals have confirmed it. It's a dumpster with an engine.
Reduce, reuse, recycle. When the dumpster is no longer needed, throw some wheels on it and declare it roadworthy.
My first thought. I always check the comments to make sure I'm not repeating yourself.
Load More Replies...Well some people have thought a parked up truck was a dumpster sooooooooo
Those things are the worst looking vehicles I have ever seen! They seriously do look like dumpsters with big wheels!
Buddy is miserable.. All these new smells and the only familiar ones are the no-nos
If a person already has a four-legged companion in their care, the Humane Rescue Alliance stresses that they have identification. This can help in case the animal gets lost, as identification tags or microchips allow them to get home quickly and safely if they ever accidentally wander from home. Encouraging others to do the same ensures that owners aren’t separated from their beloved pets and prevents them from ending up in shelters by mistake.
Ronny got to retire in 2023! And he's still a handsome boy! (I had to look him up to check his breed - I see a LOT of Belgian Malinois in that face; I have a Mal myself. Ronny is a German Shepherd/Belgian Malinois mix!)
Load More Replies...Baby elephants also suck their trunks for comfort in the same way human children suck their thumbs.
Of course. It's just like human babies can grasp but it takes months before they figure out how to release (so, no, your baby isn't being an obnoxious jerk by continuously dropping items on the floor). I wonder if this style of drinking for an elephant's first year explains how they get stuck in mud near shore lines.
They really do. Such a great starter pet for children. People opt for hamsters or gerbils but they can be a******s (especially hamsters) rats are really underrated as they are so intelligent

Rats are so totally mis understood creatures. Domestic rats are awesome pets and so very smart.
In addition, it’s important to have a disaster plan for your pet in case of an emergency, whether it’s a natural disaster or a serious illness. Leaving a pet in a rush of disaster can result in them getting lost, injured, or even killed. This can all be avoided by having a plan of action and a pet emergency kit. For some tips on how to create them, make sure to check out HRA’s website.
My wife started feeding a stray cat but I'm allergic so we couldn't take her into our house. I built the cat her own instead. It's insulated and has electric heating. Look at that happy little face!
Charlie got his balls snipped today and he hated the cone but is VERY okay with this plate instead. Here he is, purring.
I'm guessing because he can still see. I don't think my cat would have liked either, but at least with the plate the cat can look around when sitting there.
They can also purr when anxious, but Charlie looks quit content.

For animals that freely roam outside, we should provide them with native pollinator and bird-friendly plants by planting them in our gardens. For example, sunflowers are great multipurpose plants that are great for pollinators for their blooms and birds can enjoy the seeds after that. It’s also recommended to avoid using pesticides when gardening, too, as these chemicals are harmful to insects and other animals.
I have a feral that I kinda tamed to a point where she now "demands" a bowl of food or kibble so she comes to my door onto the wall and stands up on her hind legs and my door cam tells me "person detected - front door cam." OK Piper! You want food, I get it!
My cat Toby isn't blind and this is the type of thing he brings me every night. Multiple times a night.

We have coyotes in the area and people still let them out. The window at my vet is full of missing cat posters. My cats have always been indoor cats.

The eagle is named Clark. He is not wild. He's trained to circle the stadium,. He got tired and landed on this guy Tuyen Nguyen, who is from Vietnam and most decidedly NOT Native American.
That eagle is banded on both legs. It's probably a rescue that couldn't be integrated back into the wild. He was trained to fly and queued where to land. This was not a wild bird who chose to do this of his own free will, lol
Eagle-Eye Thorpe is as accurate as ever... (Google Jim Thorpe as reference).

In urban and suburban areas, make sure to put out fresh water, as it can be hard for wildlife to find places to quench their thirst. Make your neighborhood more animal-friendly by giving up cruel forms of traps and avoiding single-use plastics that end up littering the streets. When ingested, pollutants like plastic bags and straws can strangle and kill wildlife.

Additional tips on improving animal welfare include choosing products that haven’t been tested on animals or made out of real fur. Eating more plants and sharing these tips with others can make our society kinder towards other creatures and make their living conditions better.

Diego the turtle was in a zoo for 30 years. In the wild, there were were 12 females and 2 males left of the species. The zoo did not know he was a Hood Island turtle, but once they ran his DNA and discovered his heritage, they shipped him off to the breeding program. They mixed the males with different females to produce as many eggs as possible. Diego fathered 40% of the eggs, a wild male fathered 60%, and the third only fathered a few. The species is back up to about 2000 now and the program has ended. The other turtle was called E5 but he was reclusive and did not like to mate when witnessed, Diego, however, was aggressive and not at all camera shy, so he got the majority of the credit.

Sometimes the owner of the salon I frequent brings her doggo in. He's also a stealth elbow-licker. At least, he thinks he is. He's huge.
Of course, on the subway (esp. NYC) you have no idea who or what might actually be trying to lick you...
Given some of the riders on the subway, I'd probably scream, too. One's first thought isn't a cute little dog in a bag, but that creepy guy you're trying to avoid.

Load More Replies...My neighbour's job is taking in really fat cats and helping them lose weight before they're rehomed and this is her latest resident. So far he has lost 4lb.
Maybe the old owner had dementia? It sometimes happens - They love their pets and keep feeding them because they forget they already did that. In addition, they no longer notice that it is heavily overfed.
Load More Replies...Poor wee critter. I hope it's not too miserable as it sheds the weight.
My youngest cat had wet FIP as a kitten, which was 100% fatal before 2019 and the discovery of a new medication. During Preacher's treatment, I free-fed him so that he could have extra calories to help him fight the virus. He survived and ended up around 13 lbs. XD He's a large cat anyway, so he wasn't anywhere near the size of this poor kitty above, but my vet said he wanted Preacher around 10-10.5 lbs max. So we started Peps on a diet and he was HANGRY 24/7 XD And he only had 3 lbs to get to his target weight! But yeah, most of the time it's just as hard for a kitty to lose weight as it is for a human, and you can't explain to the cat WHY you're feeding him less/why he feels hungry ALL THE TIME. We helped reduce his stress by spreading his total food intake out to 3 meals a day. But yeah, sometimes it's really miserable for the kitties - but they'll live so much longer and healthier when they lose weight! <3

No matter how little carpet you have, they will almost always go to the carpet to yack. No carpet, the bed is next in line, then the laundry. Their last resort is a spot where you won't notice until you step in it and fall.
Load More Replies...I swear house pets must have a "Puking Protocol" hardwired into their brain: If you need to puke then (1) if you need to choose between bare floor and carpet, go for the carpet (2) if you need to choose between carpet and tassels, go for the tassels (3) extra points if you manage to hit all three.

Same with my dogs... you try to catch the puke but nope, it's got to go on the carpet.
Load More Replies...The exercise I got running around a vomiting cat with a pan or a tray or whatever I could get my hands on to catch the vomit, which stressed the cat and made everything all the more hectic. Easier to rip up all the carpets because bare floors are easier to clean.
It makes you want to get carpet samples and put them down for your dear sweet kitty/kitties to yack up on that can be later thrown into the laundry.
One of my long gone cats would gag while running for the kitchen floor. I could run up and wait for him to finish and mop it up. All cats after him have gagged while running for the carpet, and if I make ANY move, they move too, puking as they go. Sigh.
my great dane (all 180 lbs of him) had his own full-size loveseat--he sat on it with his butt on the seat & front legs on the floor

My mom "borrowed" our Anatolian (livestock guardian dog for our sheep). My dad had to go out of town and it was the first time my mom was staying in their new house. When I gave her instructions on how to feed him I told her that he preferred to be spoon-fed after all of his food was mixed up and that I would be including a spoon and told her that he refused to use anything else. Good luck picking him up and moving him with out blowing out your back. Side note while he's freaking so round and adorable, people please..... I can not emphasize this enough, it is extremely unhealthy for any cat to be this over weight. Think of that cat being like a 800LB human. Please feed any of your animals the correct portions of food the correct times a day. If you give him one cup a day and they are screaming for food at night split the correct portions into 2 servings. This over feeding because you feel bad they are begging is what will cut your animals lives short by many years. You are not doing them any favors by over feeding them you are slowing killing them
Agreed. My cat is slightly overweight. I am making sure she doesnt eat too much and we go for walks.
Load More Replies...That cat reminds me of those character pillows I've seen at Costco and walmart. Forget the name but sort of big and oval/round and each one has the face of some animal.
They usually specify that a pet might enter the area. Some places advertise it as an amenity. Others will specify that no pet is allowed. We go to a yurt where they used to ask you not to feed the dog and cat if they come begging and to message them to fetch the animals; but now they have put up a fence. Cats are carnivores. Stop telling people you're vegan because you love pets while ignoring your pets natural needs.
