I'm wondering if it's your stated definition of woke that's gotten the downvotes. I don't know where you live, so maybe that definition fits wherever that is, but in the US the word woke originally meant to be aware of social and racial injustices. Maga has warped the word and created their own meaning, which more aligns with your definition.

I have sympathy for Jews, they deserve a homeland, as do the Palestinians, but both the Israeli government and the Muslim-state-backed organisations have lost the moral high ground so many times that it's impossible to say that either side is right.

Palestine is a hebrew word. The area was named as palestine as part of the "British mandate of palestine" which sought to carve out a homeland for the Jews after world war 1 due to rising conflicts between the increasing jewish population in the area, and the Arabs...The n**i problem and ww2 sidelined this plan, after which they handed the issue off to the UN. The original borders proposed by the UN gave considerably more land to the Jordanian Arabs (the currently designated area that is "palestine" wasn't codified until 1988)....and those arabs immediately began attacking the Jewish cities, inciting war....which they lost, allowing Israel to expand control in an effort to protect themselves....which of course didn't work....the fighting continued, as it has for millennia....but the "palestinians" were only able to vote Hamas in because Israel, in a bid for peace, ceded territory back to the Arabs. Which hasn't changed anything. The Muslims continue to attack, wage war....continued..

and loudly and proudly state their intent of destroying Israel and "destroying" the entirety of the jewish people. They could have a home, the global community has poured billions, upon billions of dollars into Palestine....and what has Hamas done with that money? Guns, soldiers, bombs and tunnels....because they are determined to carry out a literal genocide, a holy war....that's their charter. That's what Israel is facing, some version of what the jews have been facing for 4000 years....without end. And now....after seeing babies burned in cribs, watching their friends and neighbors be beheaded with shovels by Muslims with GO pro's, seeing their mothers, sisters, daughters r***d and m******d in their homes and on the streets....far too much of the global community is condemning not those committing acts of terror....but those who suffered it....again. Those who will surely suffer it again....and again...and again. Unless they stop it. What would you do in that situation?

I know what I would NOT do in this situation. I would not go and murder a much larger amount of their people in an act of barbaric bloody vengeance.

Why does israel have the "Iron dome"? They are so besieged by rocket attacks, rockets that are aimed indiscriminately at civilian targets that it's necessary. Tens of thousands of rockets have been fired by those in palestine in the past less than 2 decades. Again, this is the FIFTH war that Israel did not start inside 18 years. How many died during WWII? North of 75 million, with 1.5-3 million of those being German Civilians. Are we crying for them? Post 9/11 more than 1 million died in Iraq, yemen, afghanistan and syria. How about russia and ukraine? Estimates put hundreds of thousands of ukrainians dead and 11 million displaced....however ukrainian forces have killed over 1 million russians, many of which want nothing to do with that war, where's the concern for them? What about the war that Hamas started? 70% of the structures in Gaza have been destroyed in the bombings....and how many dead? 63,000. This is a war, a war that israel did NOT start. the fifth war since 2007.

There are too many things wrong with your post. 1) Yes, normal people feel sorry for the deaths of German civilians in WWII, as they do for the death of Japanese civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, despite the fact that Germany and Japan started that war. 2) It’s incorrect that Hamas started the conflict. One could argue that Israel started the conflict by conquering Palestinian territories back in 1967, or ethnically cleansing parts of the land in 1948. The truth is that both Jews and Arabs have been killing each other for a while, and it’s impossible to say who started it. 3) Your strange numbers game works against your own agenda, since Israel has killed way more Palestinian civilians than Hamas killed Israeli civilians. 4) Justifying what is essentially a vendetta, a bloodthirsty circle of vengeful murder, is ethically dubious, to put it mildly. "They k**l us, so let's k**l them" is a horrible mentality. Both Israel and Hamas are guilty of it.

Hamas, and all who continue to support them need to be stopped. To sit there and see your home besieged by tens of thousands of rocket attacks, to watch the neighbors whose charter clearly states their intent to DESTROY YOU start one war after the next, and say you'd do nothing....is as pathetic as it is deluded. You do not get to punch someone in the nose and play the victim when you get your @$$ beat. If you want to accept the causality numbers provided by the terrorist organization, you also have to accept their claims that EIGHTY PERCENT of Palestinians support them....and everything they do.

“Palestine” isn’t a Hebrew word. The first mention of that word is found in ancient Egyptian chronicles, which describe a group of Mediterranean sea pirates and conquerors as “PRST”. That word is probably cognate with the Greek “Pelasgians”. The Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) calls them “Philistines” (“Plishtim” in the original Hebrew). They were probably of an Indo-European origin, perhaps close relatives of the Greeks. Later, they intermixed with the local Canaanite and Israelite population. Much later, in the 2nd century AD, the Roman emperor Hadrian renamed the province Judea (obviously named after its inhabitants, the Jews) to “Palaestina”, in an attempt to erase all memory of the Jews, whom he hated. The name stuck. Again later, in the 7th century, Muslim Arabs from the Arabian peninsula conquered the land from the Eastern Roman (“Byzantine”) Empire. The word “Palestine” has nothing to do with Muslims, Arabs, Jews, or even the original Canaanites, it’s just a word.

🏆 I wish they could fix things once and for all. Every time somebody makes an attempt at “peace in the Middle East,” I know it will only last about 10 years before things erupt again.

What does Darwin have to do with this? Militant atheist regimes such as Soviet Union, the Khmer Rouge, Chinese communists, North Korea, etc., have committed mass murders in the name of their ideology just as the Christians did in the past, and the Muslims still continue to do to this day. It’s not religion in general that is evil, it’s human hearts.

Those aren’t atheist regimes! They are totalitarian regimes that restrict religion because they don’t want their people to worship anything but the regime! Why are some people unable to understand this??
