26 TV Shows That Don’t Deserve The Praise They Get, As Pointed Out By Folks In This Online Group
Knowing how many TV shows there are, it gets hard to pick that one funny or interesting show that is really worth watching. Have you ever experienced that situation when someone recommended you watch something and after you did, you were disappointed and questioning why people like this series so much? Having this in mind, one Reddit user was curious to find out which TV series that seem to receive the most praise are actually overrated.
The post with 30.2k upvotes was soon turned into a list of various old and new TV shows that a lot of viewers saw as masterpieces, but some people found them to be overvalued and not that good. It included some of the all-time favorites such as Friends and Game of Thrones. Some users explained why some of the series are not so good, stressing some details of the plots.
Which one of these series do you find overrated? Don’t forget to leave your thoughts and names that haven’t been mentioned in the comments down below!

Bust out the downvotes folks: The Super Bowl.
No continuity. They keep changing the main characters every god damn year, the central romantic arc between Tom Brady & everyone on Earth got stale real quick. Weirdest laugh track of any show on this list, guaranteed. The lack of female representation is beyond cringe.
Besides Tom Brady there isn’t a single female character for almost 30 seasons.
But the final straw for me was the way they killed off Kaepernick, finally get a character with real substance & kill him off b/c cancel culture has no f**king boundaries.
Ugh.
I used to watch it only for the commercials and the half time show, now those suck too.
The music sucks. Bruno Mars wanted to perform with Metallica but they said No. Then he picked Red Hot Chilli Pepers and they said only with restrictions. Og but we have no issues with a hundred half naked people tweerking on stage. If they want to have pop, r&b and rap that's 100% fine. But equality means everyone should be represented. Down vote me all you want want but equality doesn't mean snuffing out one for the other.
That's the only good thing about the Stuper Bowl! Commercials so good, they make whole shows of them.
Load More Replies...Is the super bowl shown anywhere else besides the US. Never hear about it being shown in Australia.
Are there sports specific to Australia that I don't see statesside? Super Bowl is just American football championship, not like a world cup.
Load More Replies...They killed off Kaepernick because he only threw pick 6s'.
It pretty much is a soap opera. Kaepernick was getting benched and threw a hissy fit for attention. Aaron Rodgers threw a fit and got a new coach. Payton manning cries and calls daddy on the side lines when he is not winning. Any actor who does good for a season demands more pay.
Greys anatomy - that show just needs to end.
That show needed to end when it started showing sexual hijinks as the primary concern of interns, residents, and doctors. No. Seriously, no. Sure, some hanky-panky may occur, but trust me, we're not sitting on the floor maundering on about what to do with our lives. We're reading another chart, putting on the game face, and dreaming of uninterrupted sleep. (From my days as a med student -onward, anyway.)
That's what I thought the show was about when I started it. I thought, "Ooh, hot doctors having fun and sneaking around." Two seasons later and it's just about a fatherless alcoholic with mommy issues trying to kill herself over her married boyfriend.
Load More Replies...I liked the first few seasons but then pretty much all the original characters started leaving. And then it started focusing on love triangles more than anything else.
I’ve never seen this show but every time I hear about it I assume it ended in like 2009.
its still running and i dont think its ending any time soon
Load More Replies...Never watched it but all the ads I saw on tv were of the same woman crying over some crap. Is that all she does? 😂
Yup. Doctors having sex ten feet from the Patients. In reality they all would have been fired in the first week.
The walking dead is something that always baffled me how it went beyond ~2 seasons.
They had the same loop of storyline repeated in every season - they run, they find shelter, they go out for food, someone gets bitten, they get overrun, they have to find somewhere new. Rinse and repeat for like 10 seasons.
I had exactly the same feeling with this show (i.e. the rinse and repeat). It got to the stage where I thought it didn't even need to be a zombie show, it could've just been any generic post apocalypse scenario as the zombies became just an afterthought. I made it to the mid point of season 5 then ended up missing a few episodes. I kept telling myself I'd go back and watch them but as the weeks rolled on and more and more episodes kept building I found that I didn't really care anymore. That to me is when a show is on it's way out, not love or hate for it rather total indifference. Sad really as when it started it was one of my "can't miss" shows.
No zombie story is really about zombies. Its about how people treat eachother once the normal social order has collapsed. It could be caused by anything. This was caused by zombies.
Load More Replies...I love this show so much but the OP isn’t wrong. The bitten and overrun thing isn’t even the worst though. That would be at least logical and true to the plot. The worst is that the sequence goes: they find shelter, some living people bother and harm them, they fight, it’s supposed to be the worst bad guys ever, then they win. Rinse and repeat. It’s not even about zombies anymore and I hate that. At least they used to get bit by zombies.
It became just a vehicle to push a social agenda. But really, how far can go with zombies? Even if it was all fighting zombies, that'd get old too. Great first season though!
Load More Replies...I won a season of it on DVD and decided to watch it. Just a few episodes in I'd officially had enough. I was bored and kept periodically yelling "WHY ARE ALL THESE CHARACTERS SO STUPID?!"" at the screen.
I stopped watching at the point that I hated the live characters so much I wanted the zombies to win. It turned into a bad soap opera - with zombies.
In all fairness ALL tv series repeat on a loop, you just have to decide if you like the characters enough to make the commitment. None of these characters were particularly likable, that was the biggest problem. But tell me I Love Lucy wasn't repetitive, or any cop show, crime show, comedy...they are ALL repetitive. That's the nature of a tv series.
That was my last episode. It wasn't even that they killed him. It was just how horrific it was. Just unnecessary gore porn.
Load More Replies...I hate how they always stop during dangerous times to have a chat. Now's not a good time, people. And they had multiple chances to get rid of Neagan and Alpha, but they give them chances, which they shouldn't. We were watching the show, and came to the conclusion we had a better chance of survival than the characters on the show. Oh, and they never explained what happened to Rick. Seriously...
How I Met Your Mother. Every episode glorifies Ted’s toxic behavior and makes it look romantic. I get so triggered watching that show
There are some shows that start out awful but become good eventually. Plus, sometimes, you need to try it before you knock it — this OP's critique is more valid than anything I could have about the show, because I never watched it.
Load More Replies...More like "How your Aunt is the Actual Love of My Life, Not Your Mom, Who Was Just Some Radom Side Show Before I Could go Back to The Real Deal".
Load More Replies...That show, besides the finale, was freakin great. Barney is easily one of the best characters in television history. How can you not laugh at a womanizing narcist being played by a gay man. Brilliant.
I agree. What a stupid ending. Why do shows have to try and be different (Roseanne's another example)? Sometimes a simple closure and wrap up is best.
Load More Replies...I looooove this show. Watch it yearly. Yeah, Ted is an ass to a lot of women. As a result he gets beaten up, is left at the alter, is chronically lonely and sad, and his friends do call him out on it (you're doing this to yourself, if you wanted a wife, you'd be married by now). The only thing glorified is his persisting love for Robin really. But I don't think the show glorifies him in the way as described.
If no one else will say it, I will. Squid game is WAY overhyped. I’ve seen people say it’s the best Netflix show or even the best Korean show. If people give other Asian media a chance they’ll find way better than automatically assuming that the first Asian show they see on Netflix is the best thing ever.
Yeah! I wouldn't go as far as to say that it is the best show there is, but as someone who actually really likes violence, think it was still really good.
Load More Replies...I guess you have to appreciate psychological thrillers to really appreciate the art that is squid game. I loved it and thought they depicted everything spot on. It really showed how people will turn on each other when the stakes are high enough. This show would be any psychology students dream if they needed a topic for a paper.
I bet most people watch it dubbed. Watch with original track and subtitles. I hate dubbing. You lose so much nyance and character.
So true! I was in the third episode when I realized there was a dubbed option. Glad I didn't watch that. But I have been watching Korean films for a while and if you do you don't have to speak Korean to pick up on their language nuances. It is so much more enjoyable to hear them speak in their native tongue.
Load More Replies...This was such a masterpiece and had me anxious and questioning everything
I wonder if the person who wrote this saw any other Korean show. Also the post talks about shows in general, then korean shows and then asian shows. So which one is it? I've seen numerous Korean shows and movies. When talking about korean SHOWS (not movies) most are pretty trashy (most korean TV shows are just simple soap operas). So yes, I do agree that the Squid game is one of the best, if not the best korean show. Simply because it is an interedting critique of the society, it has a meaning and the visuals are great. But I get it some peoole just see the blood and they dont even notice the meaning behind the show. Also different people different taste.
I have no idea what the F squid game is, and I have no desire to learn.
First off, you need to watch the dubbed version as the subtitles leave out too much. 2nd, it is a critique of Korean society. You need to know some basic things about Korean society. They are unforgiving in their quest for social and financial success. Too class conscious. Do not care for the poor despite their high rate of protestant religiosity. Some defectors from North Korea found the society so unwelcoming, no jobs therefore literally going to need hungry at night and committed suicide. It's a damning critique of this societies worst attributes.
The story of the people was far more interesting than the blatant and gratuitous violence.
Gilmore Girls. Rory is a horrible person
*becomes a horrible person. She starts out alright at least. I really do hate how they developed and ended her character. Gilmore Girls also didn't age well.
We binged on all the seasons last spring. I'll admit we related to the mother/daughter relationship Rory and Lorelai had, and definitely between Lorelai and her mom. When Rory was in her university years that's when the show went downhill. It was all about them making trip after trip to Europe. It felt they were trying to force this sophisticated, elite, exotic lifestyle and the whole time you're wondering how Lorelai and Rory were affording all that.
She was sweet in earlier season but got gradually worse later, but maybe that's just realistic when child is praised so much for whatever she does.
I'm 50-50. Lorelai was awesome, Rory was rotten, and the creator needed to figure out which character was reliving her teen years.
Rory is toxic, selfish, opinionated and not really aware that she's just average.
FRIENDS!
Totally disagree. This is one of the funniest sitcoms out there with genuinely funny jokes and the actors were perfect for their roles.
I disagree too and i still watch it! It's my medicine when i feel down!
Load More Replies...Friends is a product of it's time and one of the biggest landmarks in television history. It has not kept well, but it does not mean iwas
It gave me a lovely little fantasy land that i occasionally retreat into when the world is being harsh,. Y'know, where you actually have a group of people around you who care about you and will come help when you're sad or going through a hard time? Yes, it's a fantasy, but I can dream about having that group of people who give a c**p. Friends was the first time I ever got to see that.
You must also watch the goopy Hallmark channel and dream of a cute, straight, single youngish vet or lawyer or organic apple farmer who is going to swoop you off your feet and you will have a big wedding, preferably at Christmas, and live happily ever after.....I have a fantasy about the Friends today, half in rehab, half bloated up by 100 pounds, all living from c**p job to c**p job in Nowheresville now because they failed in NYC when they got too old and not cute any more.

Most doctor/hospital shows. They can be ok for a while but they get predictable quickly and run for way too long.
And it was all "Oooh George Clooney!". My mother used to gush over it.
Load More Replies...I really like Scrubs. Maybe it's just because I grew up watching it at Uni but I still go back and watch it sometimes.
Agreed. I love Scrubs and I didn’t grow up with it. It’s just my kind of humor and I found myself being moved by JDs closing thoughts in almost every episode. I like to watch it from time to time when I feel down.
Load More Replies...I always say, "I already watched that show back in the '80s." "But it wasn't on in the '80s!" "Yes, it was. It was just called St. Elsewhere." (All medical shows are the same. Fight me.)
The Big Bang Theory
I cannot stress this enough.
Sexism, racism, homophobia, gatekeeping nerd culture. I loved the premise but the series is really bad.
weird, almost as if it reflected real life.....
Load More Replies...No, that's an original serie, with odd uncommon characters, a background a bit more elaborated than usually, promoting science (in a way), with anti-heroes. The character development is very interesting, and a beautiful ending. It will stay as a landmark in the history of series.
I think it’s overrated because it is highly acclaimed and it’s just a silly sitcom. But it’s also over-hated. It’s not the shining example of what’s wrong with TV. It’s just a show.
Scientist Here. With Asperger's and nieces and nephews with Asperger's. And Parents with Asoperger's.The original was a breath of fresh air - if for no other reason than learning to laugh at ourselves or work-mates. It did become utterly offensive when it changed to a Z-rated Commedy written by script writer who has no knowledge of other acquaintance with the scientific community.
Load More Replies...Working with colleague who is as disturbing as Sheldon by not his own fault but diagnosed level of autism, still one of the best, most knowledgeable people I know, I can tell you, it's how it goes for me working with him and made me like the show even more. Knowing nerds vs. sexism - if guys who never had chance to interact a lot with women get a chance, that's exactly how it goes in real life (own experience). Can't relate to homophobia here, I didn't notice it and platonic bro romance going on through show accepted publicly by everyone except of one of the persons involved, is accurate enough to my experience of such bro love.
13 reasons why
Ugh, yes. My daughter was obsessed with it. A show that basically glorified teen suicide!
Agreed. It made it plain that, wow, you really do get revenge if you commit suicide. No. You get forgotten and turned into a story about "the loser".
Load More Replies...I forced myself to watch this trash, thinking there would be some great end message, like everyone was saying, but revealing that she killed herself because her male friend stopped when she said stop and *didn't* sexually assault her was just... What the f**k is wrong with the people who write this stuff. Not even mentioning the utter mockery they made of a male rape victim. This show should've been banned after the first season. It's a revolting show with revolting idealations of things that should NOT be idealised.
Was just going to say this. The book was actually much better representation of the horror of suicide and how it f***s up everyone connected to it. The show was f*****g traumatic as all hell and a terrible trigger blast. Don't even try and tell me it 'opens the lines of conversation' unless you were one of those people who had those conversations with the 'target audience'. >:(
Load More Replies...I really thought the first season was done well but they should have left it at that. Season two on was forced writing with a very obviously forced plot (not down grading assaults, etc but the story as a whole)
Really enjoyed the 1st season. After that, it held no interest for me unfortunately.
Game of thrones hands down, it left good threads hanging but never really stitched them into anything.
What else do you want? Seriously though, there was a lot of storyline, special effects, great costumes and sets. An entertaining watch.
Load More Replies...Game of Thrones was NEVER meant to be a cliche Americanised "tie off all lose ends to make the viewers happy"....... LIFE isn't like that. That's why this author was so revolutionary / impactful / unique... because it was NEVER intended, or meant to be that awful cliche. Jeez!!
I watched half of the first episode. The sex was just unnecessary, boring and off-putting. That half episode was enough for me.
It would be easy to blame this on GRRM, since he seems incapable of finishing the series (it's been 10 years and he's still diскing about with side-projects like Blood & Fire/House of the Dragon; we're never getting the final books). And while certainly there's no way the show could have spun all the threads into a satisfying ending when the source material was incomplete, the truth is D&D are hacks who never understood the point of the books and fuскed up the plotlines long before they ran out of book material. There's no way to adapt a book 100% faithfully, but D&D's deviations from the source were painfully bad and all the great moments of the show came from the books. It was obvious the show was going to eventually crash and burn as early as season 3.
Suits - Most of the episodes consists of these high and mighty lawyers consistently running into ‘dead ends’, not knowing what to do, but they will be having a side conversation and the person they’re talking to makes one remark about something AND THAT’S IT, they have found their answers. Onto the next episode to do the same exact thing! It’s cheap writing and office drama, he said she said stuff.
Maybe you have got a point, but I really loved the Harvey character. 🤗
Agreed, Harvey Specter is/was a very beautiful man

Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. In reality, neither of them are funny.
Watched the first episode of the new season of Curb last night. Funny as hell, was chuckling away at bits this morning.
That's just gatekeeping and putting people down. I didn't like Seinfeld either, but it's just a difference in taste, nothing to do with intelligence.
Load More Replies...I could never get into Seinfeld because I really didn't like any of the characters. Very selfish, terrible people. And a lot of comedies seem to equate being horrible with being funny, which I'm really tired of.
Agreed! My husband and I were talking about this with Frasier!
Load More Replies...Yada yada! Man hands, summer of George! Hello Newman
Load More Replies...I never got the Seinfeld thing. Nothing against it or its fans, but I never really got into the show.
This is Us.
Intense emotional sensations to get your weekly cry in which is healthy sure but not the masterpiece everyone’s Mom makes it out to be.
Yup. Me too. Haven't watched an episode and don't intend to. There's enough in reality to jerk my tears. I don't need a show to do it for me.
Load More Replies...Just because you're not the target audience and everyone's mom is, doesn't make it crap (in the beginning seasons anyways). It's like dismissing backstreet boys or nsync as musical groups/entertainment because their target audience was teenage girls. Internalized misogyny (at least I think that's the word). If there's a target audience that likes this sort of thing and the Nicholas spark tear jerkers then leave it alone and congratulate someone on making money (also, I hate this is us, and all Nicolas sparks movies)
Nice ageist and sexist comment "everyone's Mom." bc women are stupid? Women who raise children are stupid?
I thought we were talking about shows that are problematic. Not the ones which people don't get
I quit after season 3 cuz Kevin was morphing into a smarmy whiny woe is me piss pants c u next Thursday. From what little I've come upon changing channels, he's even worse now.
Rick and Morty. It gets waaaay too much credit for a show filled with nonsense and fart jokes.
I love the show, but agree about the fan base. There’s an egotistical current that runs through it. Fans always talk about how only intelligent people like the show, and if you don’t it’s because you’re not as gifted as them. (They’ll usually use big words to accentuate their intelligence while doing it). Not a good look.
Social satire with so much teeth it leaves marks, but there’s only so much “everything is horrible and pointless” a person can take. Inter-Dimensional Cable was awesome.
I think it’s hella creative personally but yes totally immature, would not watch in a serious mood 😂 goes well with a funky cigarette 😉
I disagree people just need to laugh more despite where it comes from this world has gone to s**t just waiting for it to self implode
This is a perfect "over your head" show. It is so suturated with random reference that it only makes it funny if you understand said references. Nobody likes to be the only one in the room who doesn't get the joke. Not fun to watch that way. But if you do get it,..wow, so good.
This is coming as someone who loves anime and who’s favorite show is naruto. But it’s naruto. That show is great, and 45% filler episodes, do I need to say more?
Ugh. How old is this one? And Dragon Ball. The beginning of both is fantastic and full of character development and creates a whole story. But by now both have over stayed their welcome and its all just filling fights and drama. Same crap over and over. Like its been too long either stop or re write
I never quite got DBZ. I remember having to watch that Saturday mornings along with WWE because it was my brothers designated tv time and I used to loll around the sofa going "UUUUUGH!". 😁 I'm not much into Anime but I loved Black Butler and Death Note.
Load More Replies...Basically, copypasta of the DB formula; Que an over-the-top fight scene crippled by 10 episodes of soul-searching and c**p-talking filler to set up for another over-the-top fight. Rinse and repeat.
How has noone said Sons Of Anarchy? It's ridiculous. We are supposed to believe that their "club" is the most important thing to them all and they would do anything for their "brothers". But they just kill each other.
It almost never shows why someone would want to be in that life.
We're supposed to root for the main character because everyone loves him but all I could think was get those children away from this.
It was just a soap opera for macho guys who don't like soap operas.
Don't forget the Lady McBeth character, played by Katey Seagal.
Load More Replies...Hate to say it, but motorcycle gangs are like that. Bunch of sociopaths in a group.
Isn't that what real life clubs do? All in it for the brotherhood but they still kill each other?
The last episode was so ridiculous. A rotten end for a imo descent show
Load More Replies...Sadly for some bikers back patch clubs our their lives. Some people are in prison ( in Europe) for murdered rivals because they have been told by senior members. Basically organised crime on bikers. I never watched Sons of Anarchy, could not stomach such ridiculous posturing based around a piece of transport.
BoJack Horsemen. People act like it’s some kind of masterful psychological deep dive. But it’s just another cheep adult comedy animated show.
see, i really enjoyed the show and found it meaningful, but the meaning didn't really start to show until the 2nd or 3rd season. so i'd agree that the beginning was kind of "cheap", but i think the rest was really well done. i especially appreciated the depictions of depression throughout. i suppose it's entirely subjective though.
Wrong. GQ magazine hailed the show as one of the best of the decade, and IndieWire ranked BoJack Horseman as the greatest animated television series of all time. The show has been lauded for its realistic take on depression, trauma, addiction, self-destructive behavior, racism, sexism, sexuality, and the human condition. The series received numerous accolades, including four Critics' Choice Television Awards for Best Animated Series, three Annie Awards and two Writers Guild of America Awards. It also received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including two for Outstanding Animated Program. (Also, “Henry Fondle”, lol)
Methinks someone only watched the first couple of episodes. It starts out appearing to be just another animated sitcom, but once it's got you off guard it punches you right in the throat. And it only gets darker from there.
“When you look at someone through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags.” - DEEP. There are some real thought provoking statements but most is just for laughs.
Wow, you are wrong. It was a funny show that also highlighted mental illness.
Ugh. I'm still not over Todd's rant and Mr. Cuddlywhiskers' monologue on happiness. "I don't know what to tell you. I'm happy for the first time in my life and I'm not going to feel bad about it. It takes a long time to realize how truly miserable you are, and even longer to see that it doesn't have to be that way. "
It may depend on the "audience's state of mind". If someone just fell in love, living an euphoric life in 20's -then this show won't touch them. On the other hand, it may have appeal to folks in their midlife Crisis.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Every character is deplorable and it just isn’t funny.
Tragic funny. What some psychologists ascertain is how some find humor in the pain of others.....schadenfreude. After awhile it gets old though.
Load More Replies...That’s the best description of Always Sunny I’ve ever heard!
Load More Replies...They are meant to be horrible. It’s satire 😀 the synopsis literally calls them “horrible people”. Different folks different strokes I guess but I can’t agree this is a horrible show, maybe a bit loud but they’re a close-knit family oriented group that uses the best each has to offer and create original stuff. Some episodes def stand out way more than others 👌🏽
I’m Sorry, I have to disagree. One of the funniest shows I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching
I think this show is hilarious. The characters are truly wretched people, and the show doesn’t pretend otherwise. And they never get ahead, because they’re too awful and too stupid to change. Nightcrawlers!
Euphoria. It has impressive cinematography and is well acted. But the plot is all over the place and the characters are shallower than a shower . The only characters that have any depth and don't come off too stereotypical is rue and Jules.
Its a poor man's UK skins and a rich man's US skins.
Despite that I've been waiting forever for the next season, I thought Euphoria was great! I'd watch it all over again
Utterly depressing. Couldn't get through the second episode
Firefly. I haven't heard a single good thing about any season after the first.
Ha ha, only one season and a movie. Lot's of talk about shooting more but Joss Whedon never got around to it. I loved the first and only 14 episodes.
I have the series and the movie on dvd. Generally rewatch them all every couple of years. Loved the show and all the characters.
Load More Replies...I saw the photo and I was like.....oh hell no...lol...but then I read it and I laughed. Good one. Firefly was so good.
Oh shut the front door. It was never given a chance to prove how good it was. 1 season was definately not enough.
Oh, come on…there’s no debate here. I mean, does anyone beat ‘Money Hiest’?
I loved the premise but it quickly devolved into absurdity. My biggest problem was the "bandits" having their little meetings with everyone in attendance and the hostages didn't just walk out the door. They would leave them unattended for hours at a time and there was literally a gigantic button in the front lobby where they kept most of the hostages that opened the front door. There was many other things that made me stop watching but that button triggers me now thinking about it.
The hostages didn't leave because they were promised a share in the loot, remember?
Load More Replies...First season was ok, although it's just a poor man's Inside Man, second season is dire
It's an awesome show for the first two, original seasons (it was a show somewhere before, then Netflix shortened it with the remake). Everything after that is just all Netflix with its useless flashiness and it becomes an absolute pain to watch. Still haven't finished it after I dropped out in like, middle of the season 4 or something.
Controversial opinion probably: Dexter. Outstanding 1st season. Then meh all the way to the end.
I absolutely HATED the ending! But I really am looking forward to the continuation of the series, from previews it looks promising (even if they are just trying to appease all those p*ssed off by the horrible ending)
I didn't know that it's being continued! How exciting! Loved the showm
Load More Replies...Ditto. Got bored mid season 2. Its a show about a psychopath serial killer, once they gave him emotions it pretty much lost its own plot.
He always had emotions because he didn't kill anyone but 'bad guys'. He killed killers. He had emotions and standards and morals. And he was a serial killer. That's the whole point.
Load More Replies...This show was amazing up until the last season. I can't wait for the new one to start!
Community
Edit: Dean-alings! I never said I don't like the show, just that it is overrated in it's praise! I love the first couple of seasons.
My first exposure to it was the paintball episode. I sat enthralled from beginning to end, and that doesn't usually happen to me.
Definitely in the top 5 sitcoms of all time. I feel sorry for anyone who cannot appreciate Community. They must have serious psychological issues.
Last season was a bit meh, but it's pretty good show imo. It has some really deep themes and issues.
One of the most joke-packed hilarious shows I’ve seen with great representation and respect for diversity. Would love to watch the creators esp writers at work. Would agree some episodes are such a random different style and I will occasionally skip them.
Your point is invalid as Community is one of the best shows ever made. Funny, inventive, creative, hysterical. The paintball episodes alone are amazing. Great show.
The West Wing. S**t writing, frequently misogynistic, racist, homophobic and anti-progressive, and the milquetoast political takes have influenced an entire generation of liberal politicians to be a bunch of wieners that never accomplish anything. Admittedly the cast is great, except for Bradley Whitford, but everything else about that show is disgusting and to see it heralded as a political masterpiece makes me want to barf.
I think this OP is just using this to whinge about liberal politicians. And use 'milquetoast', although I'm not sure how one could describe a programme with as many issues as the OP feels it has as being feeble or bland. I'm not even a fan of the show. I just felt this opinion was up its own backside.
I loved The West Wing and look forward to its next date with Netflix
Wow, the West Wing is the second-best series I have ever seen (nr 1 is Chernobyl). I loved the writing, the characters, the topics. Just everything.
The Mandalorian. Actors are bad, it's always the same thing every single episode. Mando arrives at a planet, needs something from from the inhabitants, they agree to give it to him in exchange of a mission, he agrees, it doesn't go smoothly, and eventually gets what he needed while baby Yoda does something unexpected (whether it be disappearing or using the force to prevent Mando from being killed).
I only watched for little Yoda. Other than that - it's boring. And I like star wars
Load More Replies...NOOPE. It was like watching a Star Wars movie with out having to wait for a Star Wars movie to come out. Same Sound and Lighting and all of it was great. This dumb ass poster doesnt get how shows work. Great shows only last for a short time because they dont just have new things happening to carry the story along for 22 seasons like Supernatural going from Dark and violent to funny and reincarnation
Aww, this was my comfort show. I enjoyed the repetitiveness but I know many don't so I can't judge OP for not liking it
IMHO, many people under-appreciate repetitivness and comfort stuff.
Load More Replies...Loved this show!! Have watched all the episodes multiple times as well as "the making of" episodes on Disney +.
Not to mention the main actor so far up his own a**e he must be made of Apple users
Nah. You´re only describing most tv shows in general. Mandalorian was magical
Breaking Bad.
Stop it. The show was brilliant. Highly intelligent writing and intricate plot lines. Followed up with Better Call Saul it’s a truly cohesive storyline
I really loved the show. But I hated the hype. Some days I couldn't meet up with my friends because they wanted to watch the new episode and neither could I watch with them because I didn't know what happened in the previous 23 episodes. Duh, just drink a beer with me and watch the damn thing some other day.
I find this list puzzling. Of course shows can't appeal to everyone's tastes. And the people who don't gravitate to a popular show will no doubt label it overrated. But I think the sitcom business model is quite simple. If enough people watch the show, Networks will pay! In theory you could perhaps only capture 5-10% of a target audience to have a profitable successful show. Meaning every single show that's ever been created is overrated to a large majority of a target audience.
Exactly! No show is going to appeal to everyone.
Load More Replies...Perhaps some of these shows went on for too long but I would not say they were bad or overrated. Maybe overhyped. People nowadays are far too critical about everything because people expect far too much. We have way too many options to choose from and in the day of social media it is easy for everyone to give their 2 cents.
God. Yes. Cancel culture is ridiculous. Times were different back then..times are different now. Shows have adjusted, but that doesn't mean the older shows are garbage. You just have to be aware of the times they were recorded in.
Load More Replies...It takes really talented writers to keep a show interesting when it runs f- o- r- e- v -e- r. Most of those mentioned started out well but slipped into mediocrity for lack of creative writing.
I think sooner or later the writing comes to a point where all possible plot configurations have been extinguished. And then they jump the shark.
Load More Replies...I'll get downvoted for this but here goes, I tend to find most American sitcoms quite.....underwhelming, even those touted as masterpieces. Now don't get your knickers in a twist, it's just my opinion and doesn't mean I don't like America or Americans. I've watched Seinfeld, Park & Recreation, The Office (US) etc and whilst they aren't bad they're a bit like the comedy equivalent of plain white bread.
Family Guy. Was funny for several seasons. Then just got boring and dumb.
How's about a list of some good shows others worldwide might not necessarily know about? Here's mine I encourage you to check out (from a UK perspective) - The IT Crowd, Toast of London, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Father Ted, The Inbetweeners (UK), Whitechapel, Luther.
Bill, I'm American and I LOVE the IT Crowd! Funniest damn show ever!
Load More Replies...Am I the only one who seriously hates The Office? I find it cringey and unfunny and I hated every single episode I've watched.
Hated it. Every couple of years I get it in my head to try it and Park & Recreation again, but never make it past 3 or 4 episodes. All you hear is you have to push through. It gets better. You have to make it to season 2. Why would I do that to myself?
Load More Replies...I think only because it hardly qualifies as a show
Load More Replies...Shows whose premise is based on selfish, annoying people being selfish and annoying: Frasier, Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Arrested Development, The Office (to some degree).
