I received this in the mail today. A burned sage stick, a baby doll, and an old photograph of an elderly woman. No return address, and no friends or family owning up to sending it. Just a weird prank? I'm so confused.
Witch here! Idk if the op will ever see this but this is likely meant as a protection or exorcism of some kind. Sage is used in smudging rituals to cleanse/protect/purify. Dolls or poppets can be used for a number of things, but most commonly they're used as stand-ins for people or spirits, and it's thought that spirits are especially attracted to them for use as vessels; this is why games like "hide and seek by yourself" exist (a version of hide and seek where you summon a spirit into a doll and play hide and seek with it and generally regarded as dangerous). And finally, in using poppets or dolls, something to establisbh a bond or "link" to the doll may be used, such as a photo, hair, a piece of clothing, or other significant physical object. It also looks like this stuff was bound together in cloth with twine, and the doll's eyes have been deliberately blackened. My guess is this was part of a binding or banishing ritual; and I'm running out of character space so see part 2 below!

A Creepy Doll Was Sent To My House
My dad is a large antique collector, and he's always preferred oddities over normal antiques. So a few months ago, he found an antique Ouija board (and planchette) on eBay. He placed a bid and won. About three weeks later, we got two boxes in the mail. My dad called me to the garage to open the Ouija board with him. When I went outside, there were two fairly big boxes sitting on the floor. My dad was equally puzzled about the two boxes, but they were both addressed to him.
He opened the first box, and there was the Ouija board. Then I opened the second box, and I saw an antique doll staring up at me. My stomach dropped. My dad picked it up and had no clue why it was shipped to us. The doll gives me a horrible feeling, and every time I look at it, I just feel completely creeped out.
We assumed the seller had accidentally shipped both a doll and the Ouija board to us. My dad contacted the seller and sent pictures of the doll, and they said they had never seen it before. We did some research, and it is a German doll from the 1800s. This doll is worth a lot; it is weird that someone would just give it up.
We still have the doll (behind glass); it's been almost 6 months, and we have heard nothing from anyone.
Since the advent of haunted doll movies it seems like every doll that is not a Barbie is haunted/possessed/creepy much the same way that there are no more clowns that aren't creepy in some way. It's a shame actually, that was some little girls pride and joy once upon a time, now it's creepy or evil and gives off bad vibes.

I guess I have also freaked out someone about three decades ago. I sent a postcard to abroad, to an address that may or may not have existed. Long story short, if you lived in Paris and received a postcard in the nineties, stating something about "wish for the universe and the skies, no more but no less," then sorry, my bad.
As having both bought and sold on eBay, I've sometimes received random extras and thrown in one or two myself when sending a package... But nothing so weirdly odd. I've also had weird items left in our mailbox but chalk that up to random kid pranks.
I am VERY sure that almost all of these are fake. Particularly the very well made "oddities", looks more like to Etsy items than creepy finds.

I also once got this cute little art pin of a "planet icecream" I suppose you could call it - it was a cartoony drawing of an asteroid of a planet sitting in an icecream cone, and came with a note saying it was a "free gift for a new customer". A new customer of who or what I have no idea, but I kept it. I sold the DVD.
Once received a pile of baby blankets in the post. No return address, all baby boy blankets, mid winter just a couple weeks before Christmas. I had a 6mth only daughter. Her favourite things were blankets and balls. We were well stocked on both. Anyone who knew us knew that. Never found out where they came from. Postmark was 150+ miles from my city.
My local post office will not mail anything without a return address on it. According to them it's USPS policy so it makes me wonder how so many of these made it through.
It's legal to mail letters and packages without a return address here in Canada. They also ship internationally without a return address.

Some of the letters are clearly from mentally ill people and honestly that’s pretty depressing
I guess I have also freaked out someone about three decades ago. I sent a postcard to abroad, to an address that may or may not have existed. Long story short, if you lived in Paris and received a postcard in the nineties, stating something about "wish for the universe and the skies, no more but no less," then sorry, my bad.
As having both bought and sold on eBay, I've sometimes received random extras and thrown in one or two myself when sending a package... But nothing so weirdly odd. I've also had weird items left in our mailbox but chalk that up to random kid pranks.
I am VERY sure that almost all of these are fake. Particularly the very well made "oddities", looks more like to Etsy items than creepy finds.
