Not quite, she started off as a spy for the FrenchArmy on the advice of her Russian lover who was a Major working with the French. It was claimed that she was a German spy to cover up a completely c**k-up by the French and they used her as a scapegoat. Most of the so called information she gave to the Germans was nothing more than gossip about the s*x lives of various French Generals whenever they were staying in Paris. Her trial was an absolute farce. In the end she bravely stood facing her firing squad (15 French soldiers) sans blindfold and even blew them a kiss as they were about to be given the order to fire.

Beautiful, and a loving wife and mother, but not my favourite person. She insisted Russia be an absolute monarchy at a time when many countries of Europe were either republics or constitutional monarchies. The ones for whom I feel sorry are the daughters (and maybe the son), who would probably have adapted well to lives with commoners.

Wikipedia. She lived the most public of lives – as a ‘professional beauty’, as a royal mistress, as an actress, as a racehorse owner, as a squanderer of fortunes and collector of lovers

Marilyn Monroe brought an entirely different kind of glamour. With her dazzling smile and curve-hugging dresses, she embodied the golden age of Hollywood. Her white halter dress from The Seven Year Itch remains one of the most iconic outfits of all time. Marilyn’s fashion was sexy, bold, and completely unapologetic. It captured the spirit of the 1950s and the essence of stardom and it still inspires vintage fashion lovers to this day.

André Leon Talley didn’t just shape fashion, he was fashion. As the first Black creative director at American Vogue, he shattered glass ceilings while turning sidewalks into runways. His dramatic capes, bold coats, and stunning accessories were as powerful as his voice in the industry. Talley’s wardrobe was so iconic it ended up in museums. His influence reached far beyond what people wore—it transformed how they saw themselves in the mirror.

all that beauty, and it wasn't enough to keep her husband from having a half dozen "outside interests".

Not merely an explorer; "British explorer, army officer, orientalist writer and scholar." Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, translator of the only complete English version of " One Thousand and One Nights", and - well, they don't make 'em like that any more, they really don't. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Francis_Burton

Didn't recognize the name so I looked her up: Barbara Palmer, 1st Duchess of Cleveland, Countess of Castlemaine (née Barbara Villiers /ˈvɪlərz/ VIL-ərz; 27 November [O.S. 17 November] 1640[2] – 9 October 1709), was an English royal mistress of the Villiers family and perhaps the most notorious of the many mistresses of King Charles II of England, by whom she had five children, all of them acknowledged and subsequently ennobled.

You all forget these women lived before orthodontics. Before nose jobs and breast augmentations were made sweet 16 presents. Before the standards of living for poor people were so incredibly dismal that people looked old at 30. This was also a time when charm was counted as attractive. And education for women was a rarity so that a woman who could hold her own was enticing.

If the redness of her cheeks wasn't added because of fashion at the time. It looks like she had rosacea.

She was playing as a peasant. A rosy cheeked, healthy milkman instead of the heavily made up, fake beauty mark court fashionable ladies. So. Not rosacea.

A heavy duty lady! Wikipedia. She was the chief consort, the first Haseki Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and the legal wife of the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and the mother of Suleiman's successor Selim II. She became one of the most powerful and influential women in Ottoman history, and the first of a series of prominent Ottoman women who reigned during the period known as the Sultanate of Women.

We don’t know what Anne looked like. This portrait was not painted in her lifetime. She had already passed away.

True but we do have descriptions from the time. In 1532, a new Venetian ambassador described Anne as ‘not one of the handsomest women in the world. She is of middling stature, with a swarthy complexion, long neck, wide mouth, bosom not much raised, and in fact has nothing but the King’s great appetite, and her eyes, which are black and beautiful'. There are others - she wasn't popular so most aren't flattering!

He was young, well built, active and athletic. He was also very sauve, debonair, and charming. He had women throw themselves at him...and he was much more pragmatic than Henry VIIi. He would bed them, but not wed them...with prudish Henry, he couldn't really seem to do one without promising marriage (it was joked that Henry had more wives than lovers...but Francis knew his duty to France (his wife was not a hottie by a long shot) but he closed his eyes and thought of France.
