"You Put It Up There": 41 Times Patients Tried To Fool Doctors With Ridiculous Lies

True but the post is about folks who are actually lying even if it’s to themselves. My morbidly obese sister insisted she had hypothyroidism because she, “hardly ate at all”. Skipped breakfast, small salads for lunch and a sandwich for dinner. Looked her dead in the eyes and said, “I just watched you eat a family-size pack of crisps/chips, followed by a two pint carton of ice cream, then you emptied dozens of candy and chocolate bar wrappers from your bag into the trash, both for the second time in less than a week.” She was *livid*, told me I was completely wrong and stupid for judging her snack intake, which she NEEDED to maintain her blood sugar levels on account of her medical condition. It was eating big meals 3 times a day that causes obesity and she “doesn’t do that”. Thing is, she’s not uneducated nor unintelligent; just in massive denial that, if anything, her medical condition is mental, not physical. What she needs is therapy and a dietitian to address her eating disorder. What’s truly saddening is I’m not judging what she eats in contempt. I desperately want her to get the help she needs because I don’t want to lose my little sister.

It wasn't the accident that did for it - they went back into service with BA and Air France a year later with some safety modifications, but the general airline slump after 9/11 rendered them uneconomic and they were eventually withdrawn from service two years later. Shame, was a beautiful thing. There was an out-of-servie one parked on the apron close to my office when I worked at BA for a while in the 90s. Absolutely glorious. But tiny, when you saw another, wide-bodied, plane next to it.

Hey Pandas, AITA For Standing Up For My Niece And For My Baby, Or Am I Just Causing Drama?

You are the common denominator. I’m not saying this to make you feel bad! You are the one person acting like a respectful, rational, adult. Your sister isn’t parenting, she’s enabling two mid-teens who have already made a mistake (getting pregnant) to compound the situation by choosing to move in together with her, presumably as they intend to keep the baby, but still act like selfish, irresponsible mid-teens. They have created a toxic environment that your niece can’t handle, that your sister isn’t there to handle because she’s at work (not a fault, a fact), yet expects her daughter to come home and “take accountability”. For what exactly? Two snotty teens who think they’re all grown up because there’s a baby on the way but still act their age and treat like Maya is an inconvenience with no sway in her own home? If, as arthbach says, Maya is a legal adult, then sis needs to be told that neither you nor she has any legal right to demand anything of her. It’s your sister’s responsibility as THE PARENT to navigate working anything out between the siblings. Maybe if she’s personally exposed to the teens telling her they can do what they want, when they want, how they want, she’ll gain a modicum of understanding as to why Maya has moved out. Baby is a little less clear. Did you and husband have conversations about your level of comfort for who can take your 5-mth old out on their own before Jenna swooped in and went off to do errands? Have you discussed your feelings about her boundary stomping or kept them to yourself for the sake of peace? If hubs didn’t know, your reaction may have blindsided him and, in your panicked state come across as accusatory. Defensiveness is a normal if non-constructive reaction. TBF he has a point about not calling; if the dentist was working on your teeth at the time, how would you answer the phone? Suggest you acknowledge that point so he feels less defensive, then have an in depth discussion about who you can mutually agree on as competent for alone time with baby. Use the 4 Cs: calm, cool, collected and concise. This isn’t a you against him scenario it’s two loving parents figuring out how to raise baby together and setting protective boundaries for their safety.

The statement isn’t that we have detected the entire electromagnetic spectrum. It states that we have determined the limits of what the human eye can perceive based on the instruments we currently have. Not the same thing as you suggest. Religion relies on fully accepting something as fact that cannot currently be proven. Science is expressed as hypothesis and theory because it allows for things we don’t yet know and can’t yet explain. Neither of us knows if someone will eventually learn how to detect brain patterns that explain why someone believes they were born in the wrong biological séx. Until that happens I’m open to the possibility that there’s something we don’t know. I’m agnostic because I’m open to the potential that there are one or more deities. So far, nothing is determined nor proven. What I do know so far is that transgender people are a tiny minority of people, even fewer are actively dangerous. Might as well say all men are serial killers because Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy were. Might as well say all women are serial killers because there are examples of women who kılled multiple people.

Wow. Jaded a bit? I made a month's worth of meals for my DIL and son, cleaned their kitchen, did all the laundry, and had the house ready when they came home with their lil girl, my first grandbaby. My DIL called 2 days later and asked that I come and help, and my husband and I have babysat at least once a week since my granddaughter was born. Now, I have really good relationship with my DIL, I was her matron of honor at their wedding, she and I do things together, honestly she is one of my best friends. Common but incorrect; redundant ≠ fired. Legally, very different situations. How do I know? Was made redundant several times in the UK. Firing usually involves a process of formal warnings that lead to termination; although an egregious error such as disregarding safety protocols twice within a short period can result in immediate dismissal. Redundancy isn’t a disciplinary process. Just because a lot of people use the wrong term to describe what happened doesn’t mean the words are interchangeable. The guy was fired for being a danger to himself. Why do I think it’s important to differentiate? Because you have rights under redundancy that don’t apply to a disciplinary termination. You need to know the difference so you can fight for your rights.

I’m more concerned about AI taking over recruiting. I’ve had one AI “interview”, which was terrible (ATB you sūck!). You’re given strict instructions on background, lighting, and to maintain eye contact with the camera, which doesn’t come naturally to people who don’t post videos of themselves. I’ve logged literally hundreds of hours remote training others yet it still isn’t normal nor comfortable for me to gaze at the camera; I look at the people I’m training. You also aren’t permitted to script your answers while each question is set for 2.5-3 minutes to record your response; not even bullet points because the AI will ‘see’ you reading something… not allowed. It’s stupid. Some questions can be easily addressed in one sentence, others require a more detailed explanation that takes longer than 3 minutes. It’s uncomfortable to speak to a computer in an interview situation. There’s no feedback whatsoever: you can’t read body language, see someone’s eyes, no conversation nor back and forth discussion to dig deeper into something you said. And all the while, you’re aware that an AI is going to assess your “interview” for the right words; if you don’t hit enough of them, nobody will see your interview except for the purpose of fine tuning the AI. The only infinitesimally tiny positives are: You can practice as much as you want before starting the interview itself but the practice questions are completely irrelevant crāp like “describe your favourite meal”. Seriously? And, if you’re anything like me, you watch the video and see all the nervous tics or hand gestures you don’t even notice in a person to person conversation and think, “Wow, I look like a complete idiot”, which actually increases the stress. You can review your answers and re-record up to 3 times each answer to improve your responses. Great /s except the first time you record your answer, you over run the allotted time, which you couldn’t see as you’re supposed to be looking at the dāmn camera! By each third recording I was gibbering like a monkey on speed. The entire experience was dehumanizing. I wasn’t surprised or even upset that there was no response at all to my application. Not even a thanks but no thanks. To be absolutely candid, I’m not sure how I would have responded to an invitation to a second interview. I’d like to think I would have said, “I’m not interested in working for a company that treats people like a commodity. I’m a business analyst! My entire role is to speak to people to truly understand how to define an IT application that meets their needs. AI can’t do that. I’m pretty sure that AI won’t ever be able to do it because, no matter how detailed you delve into prompts, you cannot teach AI to comprehend emotion.” Again, ATB YOU SŪCK!

You’re conflating black out with unconscious; not necessarily the same thing. Decades ago, mid-20s, I was on vacation with my BF. I only recall drinking a glass of sangria with dinner the night before we would fly home. Woke up the following morning with 0 hangover but when we got to the airport I was being greeted by name by a bunch of total strangers. Weirded out, I asked BF, “WTH is going on?” Apparently we went to a bar where I drank a whole lot more, then proceeded to wander up to various tables, sit down, introduce myself and happily chatted with lots of people. From the outside I appeared to be gregarious when tipsy but fully capable of holding a conversation. While it’s ‘nice’ to know I’m not obnoxious when drunk, it was disconcerting to have no recollection of anything beyond leaving the restaurant after dinner. Yep! BF and I definitely had sēx; don’t remember a thing about that either but he said I was unusually, er, ‘masterful’ about what I wanted.

When a significant majority of those actually having the biological rights say we’re ok with it. We may be wrong in a tiny minority of situations. But, unless you haven’t noticed, we are generally raised to be cautious. We also have the right to determine what we generally consider a threat.

There’s a tiny little hint in the description “transGENDER”. No one is arguing that biology is fully altered by surgery or hormones. You have the right to your opinion. You have the right to refuse to change your mind. You have expressed both. Look at the pile-ons she instigated against 2 women who won sports awards, that she wrongly accused of being trans, and then her rabid followers spent weeks harassing those women. She has never once spoken about PCOS, about Sarah Everard's horrific m****r, about Roe v Wade, about the UK gov't dropping abortion rights from its equality pledge, about the UK gov't refusing to allow debates on easier access to contraception for women, about the rise in anti-abortion politics in the UK. So please, don't claim that her anti-trans stance is "just" her advocating for women, as it isn't. and let's not forget she also spreads her transphobia against trans men, which by her defitition are "biological women", so how does that work? And then we have her other attacks on the wider LGBTQ+ community, such as mocking asexuals - how does that advocate for women?

It's not even only about modesty or the sexualisation of non-sexual services. Aestheticians also have to have the appropriate training and practice to wax your anatomy. Some aestheticians will flat out not have trained to wax the opposite gender, and there are going to be safety and liability issues involved. It is remotely possible that you are a masoch!st who may not care if the skin of your scrotu.m gets torn by an inexperienced technician, but I guarentee no salon or aesthetician wants to face that kind of lawsuit.
