The coronavirus pandemic is still working its way around the world but loads of countries are loosening lockdown regulations, so we’re stuck in a weird and confusing situation (we blame 2020). In times like these, a dose of good humor is great for recharging your batteries—laughter helps us see the positives in tough situations like the one we’re in now.

We want to keep your spirits up and to boost your mood this week, so Bored Panda has collected the freshest and funniest coronavirus jokes. Scroll down, upvote your faves, and let us know in the comments which jokes you loved the most and why. We’re huge fans of the corona jokes that people made during the quarantine, so be sure to check our previous posts here, here, and here. Now that’s a lot of jokes!

There are 3 camps of people when you ask whether it’s okay to make coronavirus jokes. There are those who think that comedy is incredibly important during difficult times. There are those who think that we shouldn’t joke about sensitive topics. Lastly, there are those in the middle who believe that humor has a place during the pandemic but that we shouldn’t overstep our bounds. But what do comedy professionals and experts have to say about this? Scroll down for Bored Panda's interview with comedy writer and comedian Ariane Sherine.

"I think it’s essential to joke about coronavirus because humor is a release mechanism to help us cope during dark times," Ariane told Bored Panda.

"Shared humor also helps us bond with one another. Lockdown would be very gloomy indeed if we couldn’t laugh about our predicament!" she added.

Ariane also told us that her go-to funny movie during the lockdown is 13 Going on 30 (released in 2004 and starring Jennifer Garner). "It’s really heartwarming and the Thriller scene is hilarious. It always lifts my spirits when I’m feeling low," the comedy writer said.

True. It's quite painful to invest so much time and effort into something, only to have it rejected for no logical reason by a random stranger who barely finished high school...

True story, a woman was spamming nextdoor with false claims about CO2, telling people to learn the truth. So I provided some links to academic articles published by doctors. She told me to dig deeper and pointed me to YouTube...

Its also 4 years for a BA or BS, 2 for masters and 4-10 for a PhD, at least in the US. So it is really infuriating when people think their 5 min on google is equivalent. No you don't know how to research nor are you equipt to judge the studies you do find

In the US, typically undergraduate degrees take 4 years, masters about 2, then another 5 - 6 years (on average) for a PhD. Point is still valid, though.

Not only in the US... It's definitely an unfortunate but occurring human flaw. I find it embarrassing and enfuriating when people confidently tell others what is and what is not, and what they should do, without actually searching the subject first (they just have a unfounded opinion, and are usually not really interested in understanding it in depth).

That is true, however, people who are that qualified should know better than anyone else that at no point do we ever really fully understand something. Scientific views are constantly changing as we find out more; our knowledge is very incomplete.

I have two masters degrees in the area of statistics and have worked in biostats for some time. I've been a co-author (as statisticians should be) on numerous peer-reviewed articles. Yet I have a friend who considers herself very intelligent and quite knowledgeable about all things medical. (Read - conspiracy theories) She has a brother and a sister who are both physicians, one an ophthalmologist and the other a pediatrician. They've been feeding her this line of bs about how harmful vaccines are, the latest "research" on how wonderful all of these various "cures" are (until they're not and then it's the fault of when in the disease process it was given), etc. She's gone on to say that if/when a vaccine for COVID-19 is developed that she won't take it and that she'll be protected by herd immunity! Unfortunately, her ex who is very intelligent IQ wise also believes this same c**p. The two of them have refused to have their son immunized. So much for intelligence.

Really? There is no such thing as "settled science". Granted, it should be knowledgeable scientists in the field (or an allied one) that debunk someone's findings, but it's entitlement to feel that one's findings are so special they cannot be challenged.

Not an Antivaxxer or Corona Conspiracy-Theorist: just a guy with two decades of medical experience who knows that if this guy is actually an MD, he wrote this months ago before all the facts were in on Covid. This website is only feeding the ridiculous hysteria fueled by people giving "expert" opinions with absolutely no medical experience. And of course, all the robotic socialists that love this website because of all the Trump bashing will express their "professional" opinions with absolutely zero knowledge of what they're talking about. You people are all fools and you've ruined our economy for purely political reasons, a******s.

Toasty, that's a feature of science, not a bug. Science can and has changed with new evidence. And that's a great thing. It is better to adapt to the real world instead of being stagnant and incorrect (like religion). But, not everything in science changes as constantly as you are portraying. We have a heliocentric model of our solar system now. That's not going to change and it hasn't changed for hundreds of years. The theory of gravity is pretty well established. As is germ theory, the theory of evolution, etc. Nobody is fooling themselves by listening to science. And having a conspiracy theory often times doesn't prove anything, and is usually detrimental. You yourself sound very foolish with this comment.

... the same with any scientific field, but as this is crucial to everyone's life ... it is more important to not be a f'ing knowitall than, say, regarding engineering - although those guys knowing how bad a turbocharged small engine will do compared to a big dumb OHV are a pain in the a*s, too (my theory is, cylinder count and displacement are measurable by counting, or by relating to beer bottles or something, and therefore seen as most important properties - not because they were really THAT important ... they're not).

Meanwhile, according to Dr. Peter McGraw who heads the University of Colorado Boulder’s Humor Research Lab, if we’re constantly plugged into the newsfeed and frantically search for the latest breaking news about the virus, this just increases the scariness of the pandemic.

“A bit of comedy—whether it be through your Instagram feed, through a Netflix comedy special, or calling up your friend who's pretty good at making jokes in the face of tragedy—is not only a good way to distract yourself from what's going on, but it's also a good way to delight yourself,” Dr. McGraw said. So we shouldn’t feel guilty for laughing. After all, the alternative is to be in a constant state of low-key panic. And that’s not helping anybody: not your family, not your friends, and least of all you.

McGraw stressed that social media “is a mess” during the lockdown, so it’s best to unplug and unwind. Preferably, with a bunch of funny movies, comedy stand-up shows, and books that make you chuckle. “Take a little bit of a break. You certainly deserve it."
