I never did a house or apartment share, so I don't really know what is (or was) normal, but I agree that having a BF stay over on a regular basis is not acceptable. I mean, once in a while maybe, but only if you ask in advance, even if just out of politeness and to make sure you're not wandering around in a state of undress or whatever.

Just the one insane YTA here, who apparently conflates "working for a promotions company" with "being a model" and has clearly not read the part where it's made clear that shaving of legs is most definitely NOT a part of the employee manual. . . . . I did once work (in a contract position, so didn't directly apply to me) somewhere where they had a very rigid dress/appearance code, which included that a man would need to inform them first if he was growing a beard so he couldn't just get away with not shaving for a few days, but I'm pretty sure even they would not have dared to try and enforce something as stupid as this.

That's a very odd reading, you seem to be inferring a lot of stuff that wasn't actually stated. He's scared he will mistreat a boy because of being mistreated himself, doesn't have the same fear if it's a daughter. Not saying he's right to think that, clearly he's got issues, but there's nothing like you suggest contained in what he wrote.

I'm guessing it's related to the half-arsed anti-spam measure that does the same to any comment containing an image or a URL since a couple of months. Edit: just happened to a comment of mine in this same comments thread.

In fact with the batteries they had back then this was nowhere near as harmful as it sounds today - they were not sealed, generally enclosed in a cardboard case, so would not explode, and were constructed mostly from zinc and carbon, relatively harmless. Some harmful chemicals were used in small amounts though, but unless you directly inhaled the fumes the effect on atmospheric pollution was minimal. Not to be recommended, of course, but not quite as bad as it sounds.

Not at all. It's just weird to us that others can conjure up a picture, like some sort of magical power. I was well into adulthood, almost middle age, before I found out that when other people said 'visualise' something they actually meant they could bring up a picture in their head. ISTR it was at a physiotherapist, she was trying to get me to visualise a particular muscle in my leg that had 'switched off' after an injury, in order to exercise it. Eventually found it by looking in a mirror.

Yeah, quite a common symptom of some anti-depressants, I used to get them a lot. Mostly, but not only, when I was on anti-depressants, sometimes when very depressed. It's a brain chemical effect, I think.

Not one of the characters in this story seems to understand what an open relationship is and what it is not. Right from the start it's failed, as he's not into it but lets his wife s***w around. She's cheating on him, as he really doesn't want her to be doing so. And of course what goes around comes around, and then sh'es not happy about it. And the other guy mentioned in the story is not in an open relationship either. I loved the quote "he's in an open marriage but his wife is unaware". No, he's just cheating too.

With hired help? Then you didn't do it all on your own with no problem. Don't take credit for whatever "the help" did. If it was cleaning or child minding, shopping or prepping/cooking dinner, that was just OP. And that's fine - if you can afford it, there's no issue unless you pretend you're the sole caregiver when you're not. And if wife was home for a year after each birth, it wasn't OP on his own (even with servants) from the moment the kids came home. The number of times the story changed just in a few paragraphs is telling, this is an unreliable narrator. He has more issues than his marriage.

It isn't justifiable at all. He placed himself there. He didn't need to. Really stupid thing to have done on his part. He could have moved away more quickly instead of taking out his gun. Their own rules show that they are not supposed to handle it this way. Not putting himself in the way of the car, not shooting into a car when other action can be taken - unless he thinks that she is a major risk to him or others. She was not, except by his own choice of position. People can defend him all they like but he had no call to do what he was doing. She wasn't blocking the road, other cars passed, he could have let her leave even if she took her time to make a point. De-escalation! That should be at the heart of interactions with members of the public that they're not even after. He's a paid thug who made the situation what it was.
