My entire teen years my aunt and grandma called me fat. I spent 10 years feeling insecure about my body and hiding in baggy clothes around them. Looking at the old pictures I was slim and athletic. I was on swimming team, volleyball team, was skiing every weekend in winter. But I was not wannabe skinny model like my cousins so they called me fat. When I later went through some trauma and lost weight grandma said I look like death and should eat more. Can’t win.

By bringing up in conversation that you would prefer her to not wear make up you are trying to get her to stop wearing it; it's not your place to say it. She's not wearing it for you, she's wearing it for herself. NTA and to be honest, after reading it all + updates I'd reconsider this guy moving in. He let his mom go through his stuff because she "helped with laundry and dishes"? One day the sales director was on the phone to a client and they asked about something and she said "oh just ask Geoff, he knows about that". "Can you put me through to him then?" "What do you mean, he's in your offices today discussing X". "He's not." There's was a very large investigation after that, turns out he only actually worked about 2 days a week, the rest of the time he was "in meetings". Never saw him again.

I have gotten a rude comment and a nice comment. The rude comment was one of my classmates telling me that I was so dark that when I went in the grocery store the charcoal thought I was its mommy. The nice comment was when my professor in college was surprised I was graduating because he thought I was a freshman in college. At the time, I was twenty nine, but he thought I was eighteen. I have also been told that when people see me smile, it makes them smile and that I am one of the sweetest people that they have ever met.
