That's the problem. Hate speech isn't limited to anything, really. In fact you may just have committed hate speech by hating on white supremacists... That's how BS the entire notion of "hate speech" is. It is everything and nothing at the same time. It means whatever you want it to mean. And as such it's a useless tool for enforcing a policy that limits the freedom of speech.

This isn't "good news". It's news that supports censorship and oppression. What it means, is that white supremacists will band together in small private cells where they are completely secluded from outside influence. That means they are more likely to do stupid stuff and act out their extremism and commit terror. Google/YouTube is actually responsible for that by way of pushing them off their platform. That's not good news. That's news on how a freedom, the freedom of speech, is being destroyed for profit, while creating a more dangerous world in the process. Especially considering how Google is being completely biased on the matter, and not removing Extreme Left Wing groups, or extremely racist groups of other colours (they actually exist). This is purely virtue signalling that ends up making them into anti-freedom bigots themselves.

Actually it is. Google isn't any old private company. It's a de facto monopoly, and by pushing certain groups away, they are creating a higher risk of terror, because they no longer get feedback on their extremism. It's also incredibly biased all the time Google isn't also throwing Left Wing extremists, and supremacists of other colours out too.

What made youtube popular was cringe and political speech, because nobody watches corporational media anymore (only old people) they want a cut on youtube so they are investing a lot of money on that platform. What they are calling "hate speech" is the very cringe that made youtube popular. Youtube has always been cringe (not hate speech, nobody was ever assaulted because of youtube content so that claim is slander). Now it's going to be the very media people fled from on the first place. Guess what will happen.

This isn't actually that good. A lot of these channels aren't white supremacist channels or inspiring hate speech. A lot of them are actually history and educational channels that have been automatically removed because they're discussing sensitive topics. The software that YouTube uses to remove channels is really bad and hurts more innocents than people who deserve to be kicked.

Free speech is always a tricky subject. True believers of free speech will protect the rights of everyone, even racists, to say what they have to say. Allowing someone to speak their mind isn't condoning the ideas, but letting those ideas be expressed and discussed does help society. In an ideal situation alternative points of view get shared as well and a healthy discussion happens.

YouTube is also demonetizing a lot of really useful educational channels but they can work on that in the future. This is most definitely a great thing nevertheless.
