Dunno about them, but I'd suggest moving towards that would be an improvement over moving towards the entirely unnecessary demise of the species and most of our fellow Holocene era compatriots. Also, that's an entirely false dichotomy, moving away from a system that monetizes survival (primarily for one single species) does not require reverting to a previous state where we discard all knowledge and technological progress. If that were true then we never would have reached the iron age, much less progressed beyond feudalism.
