People did say something. Many people. That's why they left. The theater did nothing about it and the parents FINALLY did something about it after a small mob of angry people started to form in the theater and the parents got up and left (with the children). People started to call corporate and so the manager FINALLY had to do damage control by offering refunds.

My first date to my now-hubby was fries and a cola at an all-night diner. Judge not by the restaurant, but by how much fun you have with the date. In my case, we were up till 3 AM before we noticed the time. (And that was when the staff asked if we'd still be there for breakfast, which started at 430...) Not a fancy man, but a fantastic one. Just sayin'!

it's not like the child was tied to a chair and forced to watch it. She WANTED to watch it after seeing it on the tv. No biggie. it's best to get children used to scary movies early... that way they aren't scared later on. I personally was never allowed to watch them and now I can't stand them... they scare the hell out of me (I'm a sissy when it comes to them actually and it always embarrassed me growing up). BUT my daughter can watch them and enjoy them with her dad, since he started her early with them. Whenever she watches them with her dad I am always so proud of her, since I know I can't do it. LOL

It's mostly the fault of the companies that went the route of cheap/disposable. Wasn't the case when they used to pay you to return your cans and such. The companies then pushed it all back on the people and didn't have anything in place to make up for massive increase is trash. By the time infrastructure came into play (IE, more trashcans) people already was in the habit of just tossing crap anywhere. I think we're getting better about it, but it's still an issue of how manufacturers approach disposable products and their ability to break down to no further to the crap that's out there as we continue to leave waste everywhere. (Doesn't help all that trash ends up in the damn environment either way and not able to be broken down.) Adam Ruins Everything explains it all very well.

I grew up with horror movies. I would stay up late without my parents knowing and watch everything from Night of the Living Dead to Friday the 13th. After my parents found out horror movies didn't scary me in the least, they let me watch them. Seems like that's what happened with her. Some people (Even kids) can handle horror and macabre very well and others not-so-much, just like adults. I once read a horror anthology that was in a 2nd grade library...it was far more terrifying than any slasher film to me at that time and was the only time I had nightmares, but it also got me hooked on horror books and led to my current love of Stephen King and Clive Barker. I own my own business and currently in school for Electrical Engineering. I'm well-adjusted. Don't worry so much about kids and horror when we're probably all going to be dead in 50 years from an over-heated planet.
