We all know there are wonderful police out there. I have met three. Unfortunately that doesn't erase the LONG list of horrible treatment I've witness (& fought) of the victims of crime by lazy and bad people on the force. The biggest problem is junior officers being cowed out reporting the bad ones. Bad police are almost immune, making the lives of good police difficult. Thank you for being a good and ethical person. Don't think that those who come in to contact with you don't see it, and note it. We all need to practice speaking up when treated well.

I've brought people home also (lost mentally ill, abused, etc.) but you must find them a shelter (so much easier said than done) and not keep them in your home; too many good people get murdered that way. A shelter is better prepared for erratic behaviour.

SO with you!!! Children should not be raised in the strife and anxiety that poverty causes. I am completely for social services & support, but I restricted my number of children to two because of the environment, overpopulation, and so that I could support and educate them to a reasonable degree without assistance. I really do resent people who take the money I could use on my family and on charities who live on social services while continuing to have more children. I am very left-wing, but believe anyone (both sexes) who has more than two children after knowing they can't support them should be sterilized. Yep; save the horrified comments--I won't be re-reading this post.

He said he befriended him in the PTSD program he had had just finished (and we don't know how long it lasted, maybe it was weeks, maybe months), he wasn't a complete stranger. Maybe they shouldn't have left him alone in their house for days though, but not having sympathy for them is overly harsh. It was a fellow suffering from PTSD trying to help another one. It just happened to be also a very manipulative prick :( if the story ended happily we'd all be heartwarmed at the wholesomeness, it's not fair for them to be judged for not being able to predict this.
