We live in a strange version of modernity. People idolize billionaires and gush about their lifestyles on social media. Those same billionaires are preparing to leave us all behind here on our good ol’ Earth and fly off to live on Mars. Kids want to be Twitch streamers or TikTokers when they grow up. What’s the common thread between all these problems, you ask? Capitalism, of course!
The Instagram page Economic Left provides commentary and top-tier memes to rid you of some of that doom and gloom. Bored Panda reached out to the creator of the page to know more about the art of anti-capitalist memery. Check out these humorous posts and lull your anti-capitalist rage knowing we’re all in this together.

I also scoop dog poop for my neighbor so I am CEO of PoopscoopCo. Lastly I sell pics of my feet while squishing them in said dog poop on onlyfans, so I am CEO of SquishypoopfootCo. also, elon musk is a war criminal.
Cause they got people doing all the work. And if something goes wrong, for whatever reason, they can blame an underling.
Comedy and jokes are an entertaining and effective way to convey social and political messages. George Carlin, for example, is still equally revered and criticized for some of his politically incorrect stand-up routines. On the internet, where ideas have the potential to spread like wildfire, funny can be used for activism as well.
The author behind the "Economic Left" Instagram account agrees: “Memes are wonderful because you can actually pack an immense amount of information in them which is imparted in an incredibly short amount of time.”
I can't remember their name, but there was one series of Drag Race where one of the queens turned out to be a sex pest. People are people.
cherry pie, but he was a stalker, not a pedophile, like the people on to catch a predator. This post is about the right claiming that drag queens are grooming children to rape them with stuff like story hour, and there is literally statistics of who the pedophiles are based on past records, and 0 are drag queens
Load More Replies...This is so dumb. Drag queens are people too. They can be terrible, racist, sexist, pediphiles, alcoholics, politicians etc. They are no different than the construction worker, the police officer, the native american, the Seaman, the cowboy or the bondage fella.
this whole idea that suddenly in Americait is ok to hate people just because they are gay, lesbian, straight or trans... it is crazy..if someone wants to dress in drag... so what?
The problem is the huge number of people who insist any other sexual orientation that is not theirs is openly assaulting kids. Not to mention those who they perceive as "against gods plan" 🙄.
Load More Replies...I WAS JUST TALKING ABOUT THIS THE OTHER DAY! I'm like... it's wild how every week we hear about new right wingers getting caught preying on kids... yet I can count on one hand how many headlines have been about drag queens, trans people or gay/lesbian/queer ppl preying on kids.... & that's in the last few years... there's been dozens of right wingers in the last few months getting caught being predators... it's like in high school how some of the ppl I knew were SUPER homophobic... & now 9/10 of those ppl are openly gay or trans... doth protest too much....
I always wonder what scares these corn-servatives more: children spending time in the company of drag queens, or children learning to live books and ideas?
So does this person think drag queen perverts go: "I'm gonna go boff a ten-year-old, but first I need to get in costume and put on my drag makeup"
No, love, this person is simply asking the rest of the world to think about why none of the other categories are being protested en masse if they visit a library, or have legislation trying to make their existence illegal, or be told that their work is inappropriate for children because they heard that sometimes that type of person's work or hobby can be adult in nature so obviously it's always adult in nature and couldn't possibly be tailored to provide age-appropriate content.

Where that 80-100 million figure came from? I always though native population were way less than that, and hardly reach over 1 million for hunter gatherer.
Don't have the citation in front of me, but the estimated indigenous population of what we now call North America in the early 1600s is estimated to have been approximately 100 million. And as far as hunter-gatherer, what arriving Europeans actually found were settled, organized, agricultural societies. In fact, in anthropological terms, even the weird tribe is insufficient. The only term that describes these societies is nation. By the mid-1700s, the indigenous population had (intentionally) been reduced to between 10 and 20 million

The page’s creator undoubtedly chose the medium of memes for better spreadability of its message. “Humor is pivotal to the success of memes! Humor opens the door,” the page admin agrees. “Then you can begin education and community building.”
“Many groups and movements have used memes effectively to build community among like-minded individuals,” says the page’s creator. And they are right. Researchers have found that memes can influence a sense of belonging, sense of community, and attitude toward a community.
After a certain point, the very rich don't have to do ANYTHING to increase their wealth. It begins to generate itself. With the exception of Donald Trump: if he had just invested the money his daddy gave him, even in government bonds, and done absolutely nothing else, he would be much richer than he is now.
Porn stars and buy a brides cost money tho
Load More Replies...Some rich people looking down on the working class and asking why people don't just "pull them up by the bootstraps" and get more money, should definitely get big taxes. If it's so easy to earn money and get rich, that everyone can succeed if they "just try harder" and "nobody wants to work anymore" just give your money away, throw away phone numbers, connections and fancy/expensive degrees/education, and prove to the masses how easy it is. 👍 That will teach all those deadbeats using money for rent, food and probably avocado toast. /s
To accomplish....what with? The US government spent 4.9 trillion on covid. The combined wealth of ALL the US billionaires is around 4.5 trillion (most of which is tied up in stocks, and thus not able to be fully appreciated) Those "stimulus" checks, that everyone was just, so very grateful for? $3200? That works out to $1 trillion. $4.5 trillion would fund US health care for 14.5 months. Split evenly across the entire US population? One time payment of $13,000. Comparatively, "ending" homelessness would cost $20 billion a year, levied as a tax, applicable to EVERYONE, would cost $0.23 per person per day, or $83 per person per year. "Free" state university for everyone? $70 billion a year, as a tax, applied to everyone, that's $0.90 per person per day, or $328.50 per person per year. To ensure a roof and education for everyone would cost $1.13 per person, per day.....downright achievable....yet so many people put time and energy into parroting this nonsense.
It is ethical to survive, and not obstruct others from also surviving. Hoarding needed supplies is attempted sabotage of the effort of others to survive.
And if you can’t be altruistic, look at it this way. Hoarding will only make the price go up, for everyone.

I explained it already, but want to make sure you see the basic point. The minimum wage over there is $1400 (agriculture sector) to $2800 (non agriculture sector) per YEAR. The median salary in the country is just shy of $13,000. Different countries, have different economies,

Remember how much the figures get skewed by the outliers. If they have 1000 workers on minimum wage and two guys on hundreds of thousands of dollars a year "heading up the overseas division" it massively drags up the average and makes it look more generous than it is.
Load More Replies...Not necessarily. They are remote workers who live in a country where the dollar is stronger than their home currency. They make less USD, but live well in their home country. If I worked my current job remotely from Mexico, I would live like the upper class do there making a normal person's salary here. If I made half of what I do, I would still live the same quality of life I do in the U.S., but in Mexico.
This is a fair point. If one is only focusing on the dollar amount of what someone earns in the US compared to another doing the exact same work in a country with a significantly weaker currency, it’s easy to get outraged and shout about sweatshops. My family spent a year in Mexico for my dad’s job. He continued to be paid in £sterling, which allowed a living wage in the UK, not poor but certainly not well off. In Mexico, it converted to over $1M pesos a year, and he was earning equivalent to the highest paid executives at the company. We should really look at comparing lifestyle and purchase power to determine if people are being exploited. Nonetheless, I do think that remote workers should get benefits tailored to their needs and countries.

Not a flex, bro
I heard a discussion on the radio about the horrific rental market -- low supply, high rents -- and the 'expert' said that one of the answers was that there was a housing shortage and we needed to build more houses for rental. If so many rich people have vacation houses and so many people have properties to Air BnB, there is no shortage; there is only a problem with distribution. Also, he said that one reason for the high rents was landlords needed to compensate for increasing mortgage rates. So, in other words, the landlords profiting off of their tenants do not even own product they are overselling to their customers. So, maybe that is another thing to question.
Exactly. Even outside of the air BnB and holiday property market there are 600,000 properties in the UK that are empty for one reason or another. Yet there is building on green belts and insufficient urban regeneration because it's more expensive. Landlords shouldn't be making their renters pay their mortgage either - renting needs caps and if their mortgage goes above it, tough.
Load More Replies...There are more empty dwellings in the US (16 million) than there are homeless people (less than 600,000). THERE IS NO HOUSING SHORTAGE.
It seems a lot of times that now no one wants to buy a house they can afford and fix it up over time. They want to simply get paid enough money to buy what they deem good enough for them from the start.
Load More Replies...Here's a crazy idea: you must be a registered resident/citizen to buy a home and you can buy exact ONE extra home for vacation if you want. That's it.
Unpopular opinion but in the Swiss ski town where I live it would be a disaster if Airbnb and other vacation rentals disappeared. We don't want ugly big chain hotels in our town...
I wouldn't say in unpopular opinion, just a rare situation
Load More Replies...Whilst it seems like a good idea for house prices to fall, it would be a disaster for the economy. A drop of more than a few percentage points is enough to drive a recession. People seem to think that it would be a good thing if prices fell by tens of percentage points, whereas the reality is that this would tank the economy and cause hyperinflation. This would destabilise the world economy and the dollar would cease to be valued as a major currency.
Can you show your math? If people can afford rent, then they have extra money to put back in the economy. How did you come to your conclusion of the opposite?
Load More Replies...I totally get this, and it's 100% not wrong, but also, they need a house to live in. I don't work late because I want to, or because I care about my career. I work late so I can pay my bills.

I literally almost got killed once because my mother couldn't leave work on time even a single night. In January 1987, I commuted by bicycle to my M-F 6 AM shift at Burger King. I bought a car, it was registered and ready to pick up from the dealer, but I had no way to get there. My car sat on the lot for at least a week because Mom (then a manager at AT&T) couldn't leave work in time to pick me up and get to the dealer before closing. One morning I was riding my bike on the shoulder of NJ 15, in the dark and snow, when a car pulled onto the shoulder, hit me, and got back onto the highway. My bike was mangled, I was 20 minutes late to work, and I couldn't walk right for a month. I believe that, if you can't afford both the time and the money to raise children, you shouldn't have them; but then having children has never made sense to me
Load More Replies...Most companies heavily discourage this and some of them you can't bring your kids bc of legal reasons .

There was a murder in a big, well known store, in my city. A man stabbed 3 random people with a knife taken from the stores displays. This is not USA, so it was a big story. After a few weeks, the first time I felt comfortable being back I heard a staff asking another one if they had a knife. (It was close to the storage, so I guess they worked with boxes or something) But the other worker answerd by giving him the knife and follow it with "good thing I'm not a customer". And had a big laught about it. I felt so ill that I wrote to the head honcho of the company about what I've heard, what shift and so on. I also hinted that I could have just get in touch with him or the newspapers. A land spanning newsstory like that would put every store of theirs on blast. The CEO was on vacation but then sent a heartfelt apologising mail that he would talk to the staff and really lay it into them.... So vacations for bosses are good/healty, but I could have brought a big company many hatches.
Even with the inflation I'm well enough to take vacation (France). I'm a bit above the average salary but still, with the same job in America I'd have to pay for my vacation as I do here + not getting paid on my day off, and certainly could not afford the equivalent of what I'm doing.
pfft. my bank doesn't even bother getting to know my pay schedule. They will charge me their fees, and an overdraft fee, an over limit fee and another over limit fee because their fees brought me past my limit. Then when I call the bank I have to try a couple times to get a rep who has some human decency to understand that it's all b******t.
I just got a $36 fee and it wasn’t even my fault! Wondered if trying to get it removed would ever work because I don’t think so.

Our local credit union makes people who want an account with them agree to a hard credit check, then blocks them from getting any kind of account if they don't pass. Load More Replies...Look into Chime. No fees ever. Been with them about 3yrs now. No complaints.
The one time that I had to give the bank money just to close my account, was the last time i used a bank! 🤬
I'm 100% behind the stupidity of banks for doing this. Just because they don't have a mechanism in place to STOP the transaction from taking more money from THEM in time, they punish the individual. The individual puts funds into the account; they are not the one holding the funds and allowing the funds to leave their grasp; the bank is. It's the bank's fault that more money went out then what that individual left with them. The bank could have a mechanism setup to where the transaction would simply be declined with no money leaving. This makes no real life sense when you place this situation in its proper place. Imagine you give me $5 to hold on to. You see something you want to buy for $8, you call me, tell me to buy it for you, and I do...and spend $3 of my own money simply because I didn't remember that only $5 in my wallet were yours. Imagine I bill you $35 plus the $3 I spent instead of telling you, "You only gave me $5. This costs $8. I can't buy it for you with your money."
. Once when many of us workers were laid off.. I used up all my money in the bank to pay off current bills to live... when I finally got my first unemployment check after about six weeks, I went to start a new bank account.. the bank wanted me to deposit it all. I threw a fit because the unemployment checks were made out by the government.. and I needed to pay new bills.

To think one party has that much power is to not understand politics. Republicans and Democrats both make money off one another and for one another. It's in both of their interests to keep the government exactly like it is. They both sure as hell work together to make sure no Independent holds authority.
Recently read an article where the democrats are seeking to legally shut down a political party because it might dilute voting, causing the Republican Party to win. This is what you’re fighting against. A government structure that only supports two parties. Neither of which has your best interests at heart.

The main problem seems to be that US Americans don't have easy means to experience other lifestyles. The education system does not teach how other countries are managed, the US is too big to reach another country easily, it is very expensive to go exploring elsewhere, people do not get enough off-time to do so - the combination of this discourages going to check other cultures. No iron curtain or walls necessary. The one big advantage of Europe is the ease of experiencing different countries. Contacts with clients, customers and companies across the border is just a part of everyday life of many people. This results in more openness and acceptance of new ideas. "I saw it worked in Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, ... so why not try it here?" - is very often the beginning of implementing a good idea, and most of the several political parties our governments have, will give it a try. For the US this kind of natural adoption of new ideas is difficult, also due to the two-party system
Yeah, let’s do away with public roads, water supply, infrastructure, etc. … damned if I’m gonna pay taxes for all that to some government /s (edit to explain: “/s” = sarcasm)
Basically there are two kinds of people: those who worry about the ones left behind, and those who worry some will get more than they're entitled to. So if you get all riled up that some who can work, don't, you're right wing, and if you protest that some who can't work, die, you're left wing. Right? If all of society shifts to the right, as seems to have happened not only in the US, basic human decency appears to be left-wing socialism. It's not, though - ask Jesus.
it seems some just state it's "socialist" and don't bother asking or discussing
Online spaces are not the only place where anti-capitalist sentiments abound. The idea seems to be getting increasingly more prominence in the media we consume. If this is acceptable for politics, then it is acceptable for everything else that disappoints.
Yeah....has nothing to with the fact that even making minimum wage you're still handing 25% of your income to the government. Compare that to the US where if you make 72,000 a year, you're only handing over 22%. We know exactly how all the places with UHC, a month of paid vacation, "free" university and months or years of maternity leave make it work. EVERYONE, pays a significant amount of tax as a baseline, and that share increases as you earn more. That's the whole f*****g game. All those things are subsidized with taxes. They are not "free" they will never be free, they will never be covered by only taxing the rich, and until everyone accepts the fact that everyone will have to contribute to funding those programs, they will never, ever, ever, ever materialize in the U.S.
And crazy inflation, cost of goods.. everything comes with a price.. free healthcare? I would like to cap net worth at $100 million (inflation adjusted in the future). That's enough money for a small person to earn 7 or 8 million a year in interest and still inflation adjust the principal. In other words, you could spend more than an average person makes in a lifetime each year and still not lose any money. And if you have 10 kids, when you die it will be enough for all of them to be set for life. If anyone wants more than that, they are a horrible person. My plan is to tax 100% of current holdings and earnings over that amount and use the money to pay down the national debt. Then pass a balanced budget amendment, reform the supreme Court, and institute single payer national healthcare. The graphic designer fulfilled the mission here. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
So the government claim it back. Very simple. That is what other countries do.
The thrift shop I work at recently became a shareholder company. We're already experiencing hour cuts every week. This is what I'm fearing. Even though there's other jobs out there. I hate HATE job searching and it's not like other companies are any better.
This is zombie capitalism. Capitalism has already died. The 1% are acting out Weekend at Bernie's with its corpse.
It was never a secret that Intel was planning to cut jobs, or that it has shareholders. I wouldn't be surprised if the layoffs were a prerequisite to the subsidies. Pandemic scarcity and fear of China are pushing governments to near-shore their semiconductor industries. Chips are a cyclical business and Intel will re-hire soon.
Honestly, all countries have this kind of problems, only the arcitecture changes and proportions
Nope. I have never seen homelesness on this scale in The Netherlands. Nor neighborhoods this derelict.

You will see with your own eyes and learn with your own mind that Democrat-lead cities are more guilty of this level of widespread homelessness: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, New York, even Nashville. When Democrats hold the majority power in the nation (Senate and Presidency) and the cities they run are STILL like this, it's time to stop blaming Republicans because simply it's the "in thing" to say and do. It's time to put blame and pressure to where it's due: the crooked politicians who allow for this to happen. Ignore the party bickering and go after the source.
he didn't claim that the embargo should be lifted, he claimed that a country that has the power to embargo other countries, and then claims how that affects their people literally has people in the same condition and worse than countries that have been embargoed, and doesnt' care

Millionaires, maybe. Becoming a billionaire requires a lot of dirty work.
Musk sold his first company Zip2 and made 170 million off the sale, his next company was Paypal....the sale of which netted him billions. Explain where the unethical behavior is there. See, all the big billionaires, like Musk, Gates, Bezos and Zuck......don't actually have 100's or even 10's of billions sitting in the bank. What they have, is STOCK. In companies that are hundreds of billions or trillions of dollars. Bezos owns 10.5% of Amazon stock, when Amazon's market share hit $1 trillion, he was worth around $120 billion. When it hit TWO trillion, his "wealth" was reported as $230 billion. When Amazons lost nearly 1 trillion of "worth" earlier this year.....his "wealth" dropped to $130 billion. You want to become a billionaire? Found a company, provide products or services that attract hundreds of millions of customers....take the company public and retain a sizable amount of the stock price. It's not hard to understand, that so many don't kind of explains the underlying issue

Don't forget that a lot of workers have been going on strike recently. In fact, just now, the United Auto Workers are striking against the Big Three (GM, Ford, and Stellantis)
I'm hoping security officers in my state can join a union soon. The site im at carries real danger and were unarmed by that's not the danger. We are so under payed.

Yup we can thank the Soviet Union and their "Communism" for setting us workers back by a century... What a gift the BS of Leninism and Stalinism was to the capitalists.
A teenager listened to a professional financial adviser when they said he could afford it? OFF WITH HIS HEAD!
That might be true if you weren't taxed when you make it AND taxed when you spend it.
"Stop expecting to benefit from capitalism as you're forced to toil to keep it alive" is what you're saying?
Load More Replies...I have a question(I don’t know why I keep saying that, my mind seems to be set in school right now), what does left wing and right wing actually mean? Isn’t that what this is talking about?
Ideological groupings. Generally, the left wing is characterized by an emphasis on "ideas such as freedom, equality, fraternity, rights, progress, reform and internationalism" while the right wing is characterized by an emphasis on "notions such as authority, hierarchy, order, duty, tradition, reaction and nationalisn".

Well, the UK have recently legalized child labor, lowering the minimum employment age to 13 to battle the "labor shortage". Societey is devolving back into the 19th century.
Have they? I live in the UK and I don't think I heard his on the radio but idk I might google it in a sec edit: you can earn money from the age of 13 but there are extremely strict rules about it

The answer to "No one wants to work!", how about we just have kids do all the jobs that won't pay a livable wage...
I sometimes go on FOX when I feel like an argument. MAGA constantly uses the terms Communist, Socialist, and Nazi interchangeably. It is clear they have no clue about the differences or what they truly mean. It is simply their way to be derogatory towards those who disagree with them. I have tried to explain it to several. Not much luck yet.
in Poland it's Comunism, it was real and when somone from Poland fled to USA in 1970' you didn't belive us when we told you that at those days at grocery stores all you could find between shippings was mustard and vinegar, cause our "comunistic gouvernment" was sendind away all goods made in Poland to Russia. Soviet Union? XD union means something else it was Russia's Supremacy.
I don't think people are understanding the SARCASM of all these posts.
Remember folks, the economic boom-bust cycle in a capitalist economic system is a FEATURE not a bug.
I'm in my 50's and I can honestly say that this complete BS. In fact, the older I get, the more I hate the right and everything it stands for. It doesn't take much brain power to see how hateful and racist the right is. How their economic policies have hurt not only myself, but my kids and even the idiots that continue to support them. I respect a persons right to choose conservative political and social values. But I do not respect or condone tyrants and greedy, selfish people. That is what the conservatives of today are. And what the Republican Party is now, needs to be eliminated and disbanded. They are treacherous and threat to freedom and decency. Their leaders need to be jailed. I would say that the Republican Party is the biggest threat to the US today.
I'm in my 50s too. I started off as a classic Massachusetts liberal, and have progressively leaned more and more left and I've gotten older. The reason Boomers say this is that they were able to build wealth over their lives. GenX and younger never were. I've pretty much always been working poor, so I have no sympathy at all for the wealthy.
Load More Replies...People don't become more conservative as they age - marginalized people, usually more left-wing, have a greater chance of dying.
Well, when I was younger I was trying to sound cool and did NOT know what it meant, so I told my teacher I was a "militant conservative republican." she was just like....okayy? Fast forward about 9 years and I am just about as liberal as you can possibly get lol.
And don't tax billionaires because I could be a billionaire tomorrow!
The top 1% of earners in the US account for 40% of collected taxes, the top 10% account for 70%. Last year, the bottom 52% of earners accounted for 0%. Meanwhile, Elon paid $11 billion in taxes, and no you don't get to look at the "wealth" statistics to argue about how much they should pay, as the MAJORITY of that is based on STOCK. Yes, "the rich" should pay higher taxes....but so should EVERYONE ELSE. In fact, that's the reason the all the socialist utopia's (of which i've lived in one for over a decade) can afford UHC, "free" university, months or years of maternity leave, a month of paid vacation, cheap predictable public transit and infrastructure that isn't crumbling. EVERYONE hands over 30-60% of their gross income so as to subsidize all those social programs. Ending homelessness and making public universities "free" would only require that EVERYONE pay $412 a year more in taxes. $1.13 per person, per day. How about everyone fixate on that.
Load More Replies...Yeah, keep banging that drum. Every attempt at communism has resulted in the same exact thing, and each and every time it starts again, it's with someone telling themselves "it'll be different this time....because we really "get it" now. The reason it always failed before is because they didn't have ME to steer the ship" Socialism, and communism are not the same thing. Socialism, alive and kicking throughout Europe. They're called Socialist democracies. Communism? China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, and North Korea. How are things working out for those four countries? What about all the ones that were violently overthrown on account of communism being a dumpster fire of corruption?
Meh, the "glorious" Soviet Union ruined the red for me. Let's adopt green or orange flags?
This is what I think of, too. Except it's more like $14.15, and going up to $15 next month, because the government says so.
And if the government didn’t “say so”, they would pay you less. The government *should be* “saying so” as it’s the government’s responsibility to represent The People not The Corporations
