If there's one thing that we can count on in this world, it's that people love cats. It doesn't matter if they're small, old, young, cute, or mean; owners will love and pamper them nonetheless. Last year, the estimated expenses of owning a cat were between $830 and $3,000. Clearly, no expense is spared for cat owners when it comes to their beloved fluffballs.
Bored Panda loves cats too. That's why we are blessing you with a collection of wholesome and cute cat memes, courtesy of the "happycat318" Instagram page. Check out the times kitties cracked up their owners with some diabolical shenanigans!

Load More Replies...Me too. I'd totally become one of those annoying people with animals in their handbags if I had a cutie like this.

Put up some auditory markers, like a ticking clock or a water-fountain, that can help the cat navigate. Scent markers are also good, like a perfumed candle, or potted herbs, that are always in the same place.
Just be careful with what candle and what herbs, because many are harmful to cats!
Load More Replies...Do you think she was trying to take selfies or picture of backend of cat ?
Considering the photo we're seeing, presumably she was taking a selfie in the mirror, and that's why she has her phone out.
Load More Replies...As a former cat owner, I always thought that the main benefits of owning a cat are mostly aesthetic and maybe somewhat psychological. There's a cute critter running around your house, purring in your ear while you relax, helping you to unwind after a hard day. However, there might be more benefits to owning a cat than I realized.
One is that they might help us feel younger for longer. A recent study found that owning a cat or a dog helps slow cognitive decline and preserves our brain functions as we age. Cat owners specifically were found to show a slower decline in verbal fluency. Researchers aren't sure what exactly causes this, but they speculate that interacting with a cat or a dog provides cognitive stimulation, especially when socializing with them.
Solid black coloration on a cat is actually a mutation of the tabby gene, and all black cats have very faint stripes visible only in just the right conditions.
**ALL** breeds of cats, large, small or medium sized, carry the agouti gene! You may not always see evidence of it (stripes and/or or "banded" fur), but it's there!
Yep. Even large void cats all have a series of ghost markings like jaguar spots or rosettes.
Load More Replies...My black Kitty also had white underarms and white on her nether region along with brown reddish stripes.
Tangent on stripes: human beings have invisible stripes and swirls called Blaschko lines.
I was fostering a "black" kitten just before Christmas, and her coat was very different. Under her belly fur she was a smoke colour and when she lay in the sun, she was dappled like a jaguar.
I have an English Mastiff. She likes naps as much as her tabby cat brother. It snows we snore.
My little dog hates inclement weather. If it's really snowing, she'll look at me like "are you out of your mind?" and if it's raining, holy cow, Sisyphus had an easier time than trying to get that dog outside. 😂
Load More Replies...Absolutely true. But they will use the box it came in.
Load More Replies...Previous research has already shown that when we interact with cats, our prefrontal cortex and the inferior frontal gyrus (IFG) are activated. We use our prefrontal cortex for memory, decision-making, problem-solving, planning, and even emotional regulation. The IFG processes language, empathy, cognitive control, perception, and unconscious processing.
Interactions with cats train these parts of the brain, resulting in them declining more slowly as we get older. It might even help prevent diseases like dementia. Researcher Adriana Rostekova, a co-author of the recent study, says that the socialization aspect of owning a cat can even be a substitute for a friend group.
"There is [a possibility] of increased social stimulation facilitated by cats and dogs, which may be linked to the slower cognitive decline experienced by their owners: an increased frequency of social interactions when accompanied by a dog – or for cats, a substitute for a social network."

Whenever I try to go up to a strange cat, they always run away from me.
Me too, until about a year ago. I was taking food to the homeless cats that live around my apartment complex when I noticed a little black cat watching me from the shadows. It was almost like he was waiting for me because when I said "come here" he immediately came running over. After petting him for a few minutes I decided that he should come home with me so I named him mojo and he's the funniest most affectionate cat I've ever met. So, just keep trying and eventually you'll find the cat that's been waiting for you, just be prepared to take him/her home with you...

Load More Replies...Rostokova and colleagues conclude in their study that pet ownership, or even interactions with cats and dogs, can be beneficial for older adults and should be included in policies on healthy aging. According to them, older adults should receive financial assistance for veterinary care and pet insurance, or even get animal-friendly senior housing.
Humans can be annoying: your friend doesn't text you back about weekend plans, your Hinge date just ghosted you, and the annoying Karen at work has you on your last nerve. Luckily, if you have a cat, he or she has your back; cats are great for stress relief, even better than fellow humans.
And it's not just that they're better at it; owners just prefer to decompress with them instead of their partners, family members, or friends. A 2025 global survey found that 65% of pet owners would prefer to de-stress with their pet only. In contrast, 37% would like the company of their spouse, 24% would want a family member, and 21% would rather be with friends.
That's a she. Tricolor male cats are extremely rare. ☺️
Load More Replies...This is how we've gotten all of our cats except for one, and she was found wandering in rush hour traffic with her eyes gummed shut by an upper respiratory infection at about 7 weeks of age. She was rescued by a driver on her way to work and taken to a veterinary clinic 3 blocks away. We had connections to that clinic, and that's how we got her. She made it to 17.
That's basically how I got both my cats. How do you even get cats anymore? Can you still get them at the mall?
Where I live you just go to the local cat rescue, and then you point and ask, just like at the candy store when I was a kid.
Load More Replies...Even if your love language isn't "touch," physical contact with a cat might be the key to feeling calmer. A 2023 Japanese study revealed that cat owners experienced milder activity in their parasympathetic nervous system. Essentially, the more frequently they petted their cats, the more relaxed they felt.

I have an indoor cat who occasionally sneaks out the door and goes under the deck. He did this once and it was raining outside, and he was back in an instant meowing balefully at the door .
I don't think so karen. You told me it's warm outside. Why you lie? Now let me in you twit

Load More Replies...¡Zorro! Or 'Lone Ranger', or maybe; "Kemosabe" (or Ke-mo sah-bee) is the familiar term Tonto, the Native American sidekick, used for the Lone Ranger in the classic American radio and TV show, meaning something like "trusty scout" or "faithful friend," derived from Ojibwe/Potawatomi words like gimoozaabi ("he/she looks out in secret").
Interestingly, the man who the Lone Ranger was based on was a black man named Bass Reeves.

Load More Replies...Our cat waking my husband because there is a cat problem going on. Never ever have í been woken up because of a cat problem. I think they think I'm to stupid for being up for the task. When my husband had to be at the hospital for 3 weeks nobody asked for food or water or anything cat related. I saw every bowl empty on the 4th day. No one bothered to even check if I might get it done by myself. We had 3 cats then and no one thaught i was smart enough to feed them. Just waited until my husband would come home. They seem to think I'm r******d or something 😅😅😅
Then proceeds to shut the laptop/tablet since your paper sux since he's not in it
Right? I'm curious how the cat is able to get themselves up there, quite like that? I'm thinking some human intervention had a hand in this... 🤔

Well, from kitten to full grown cat, a little different.....
Load More Replies...Ah, yes, exactly what happened with my fourth cat. Rescued from a drain, skinny & starving. I remember well… “No, I can’t keep him. There’s no chance. I don’t have enough room. He won’t get on with the others. I can’t afford another one. He can stay for a few days until I can take him to the vet.” Four years later, the sly little b*****d knows exactly how much I love him 😅❤️🐈⬛
I thought I was stopping at four cats myself, until my cat-loving dog found two feral kittens in the backyard 8 months ago. I told myself all the same things you said about your fourth catto. Now my family is 6 cats and one dog who is in absolute heaven because he adores cats XD

Serious question, for anyone that had a chubby cat. How do I get them to lose weight! I've tried feeding my cat less and encouraging her to exercise via playing, but she ends up eating the rest of my other cats food. I'd like for her to shred a couple pounds so she can be healthier. But it is quite difficult with two cats because like I said, she eats my other cat's food. I've started trying to feed them separately but it hasn't really helped much. It also affects my other cat because I have to constantly monitor how much she's eating to make sure that my other cat is not eating her food instead. It's actually quite a problem. My one cat is very anxious, and the other is a 'big fat beast'. Any advice would be helpful! I'd like both of my cats to be healthy
We had to do this with our tuxedo boy and void girl. We had to get a feeder that could be "paired" with their microchips, so Mr. Fatty Food-Stealer couldn't get my void girl's food. BP doesn't let us post links, but we ended up with two: a SureFeed brand for the tuxedo boy, and this big acrylic box thing called the MeowSpace for my void. The MeowSpace worked REALLY well. Its entrance is a cat door with a microchip sensor, so ONLY the "right" cat can enter. If that cat is a slow eater, they won't feel pressured to gobble. It's expensive, but worth it in the long run. And you need to religiously measure your chubber's meals - like down to the GRAM. Be exact. Calculate how many calories she should be eating (there are calculators online/ask her vet.) Get a kitchen scale. Be very exact, *every meal*. Slowly reduce her portions/caloric intake over time. Hard to talk via comments but let me know if you have any other questions!
Load More Replies...All pet owners, please get elevated bowls like this please. It saves their spine/neck, which in turn saves you money on vet bills, and might even add years onto their life. Not to mention, just think of how uncomfortable it must be to eat off the floor That's like trying to eat while doing pushups.
I want to hug him and kiss him and WTH I'll keep him! I only have 3 at home🥰
I hate it when I see pet owners over feed their pets. If people want to over feed themselves, that is fine with me. But don't over feed your pets. They don't know any better.
Occasionally it comes along with an awful screeching noise that never stops unless the food bowl is full.
Load More Replies...I would agree - except we had a cat whom we could not keep from eating everything he saw! He ate his own food. He ate the other cat's food. He ate the dog's food. He even would beat up the dog FOR her food! Then he would go next door and in her words, "knock on their door and say hello to her husband. Since he felt we were not feeding him, HE fed him again!! The neighbor was afraid we were starving our poor 28 pound cat!! Trust me I really was not responsible for his spherical shape!
