It’s easy to look at animals and feel like we don’t have much in common with them. Most don’t live in heated homes, sleep in cozy beds or have the opportunity to shop for whatever they want at the grocery store. But we all follow our instincts and do everything necessary to survive. And some animals are incredibly expressive, just like us!
We took a trip to Openly Gay Pets on Instagram, a page dedicated to sharing hilarious animal memes, and gathered some of their funniest posts below. These pics might make you realize that you actually have more in common with these creatures than you once thought. As it turns out, animals can be comedic geniuses! Enjoy scrolling through these silly memes, and be sure to upvote the ones that you can’t help but giggle at.

I'm lucky that when I go into hospital my neighbour looks after my cats (they love her and see her regularly), I wish there was a service for those who don't have any help so they don't have to relinquish their pets.
Here (UK) The Dogs Trust can help as can the Cinnamon Trust.

My dog saved me from an attempted a*****t by going ballistic (in the car) when a fake cop tried to get me out of the car!
TRUTH ! anyone as don’t like dogs , or worse animals in general, are inhuman and totally untrustworthy 100%
Some people have had a bad experience with a dog and don't like them as a result.

My cousin was attacked by a dog and almost died... because the dog's owner was an absolute POS who trained the dog to be aggressive and ordered it to attack him. Most of the time, but not all, when a dog does bad things it's because a human trained them to do it.

Don't you worry, Stephanie; it will always be Kermit the Frog to us.

But regardless of how many animals you’re actually familiar with, there’s no question that the animal kingdom is fascinating. There are creatures that can fly, slither, swim, crawl, and apparently, plenty that can make us laugh as well.
As far as why humans are so captivated by animals, the Wildlife Conservation Network notes that it likely stems from the fact that we used to live alongside them. Our love for these creatures is deeply ingrained in us, as we know that coexisting among animals is beneficial for us. These creatures have inspired countless stories, pieces of artwork and more. So we should never forget to appreciate them!
The literal translation of the name in Spanish is 'Royal Turkey'.
There’s a reason why people love going to zoos and aquariums, watching nature documentaries, and traveling to Africa to go on safaris. The animal kingdom is beautiful, majestic and fascinating. And we often long for relationships with these amazing creatures, even if the closest we’ll ever come to hugging one is by buying a plush version.
The Wildlife Conservation Network also points out that our affinity for animals might be linked to the fact that they express emotions similarly to how we do as humans. “That feeling when your hair stands on end when something creepy or threatening is around the corner? That’s a physical fear response also exhibited by dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, lions, hyenas, antelopes, bats, and rodents,” they explain.
I've seen this picture a zillion times, and every time it makes me sad/happy.
The pup's name was Schoep and he was 19 years old at the time of this photo. Schoep had a good long life, but I too feel the same emotions every time I see it - because I know I would do the same for any of mine. I'm fortunate that my oldest cat is only 9 and my oldest dog is almost 4, but I know the time will come.

The best part is when you have to raise/rescue one of these little guys and they keep trying to build dams in the house using random items.
Aww, this is Nibi. She was discovered on the side of the road in Massachusetts a few years ago, when she was a tiny little baby. Nibi was rescued and cared for by Newhouse wildlife rescue, which is northwest of Boston, where she was sometimes referred to as a diva, due to her behavior or lack there of, lol. Last year, Nibi turned 2 and that's around the age that wild beavers begin their journey to find a mate and build a home. MassWildlife, which is the states dept. of fisheries and wildlife and Nibi's rescuers disagreed with her being released into the wild, stating she wasn't ready and likely wouldn't survive. This disagreement went through the courts and this diva even had the governor of MA involved. The governor ultimately issued a permit for Nibi to remain at the wildlife rescue as an educational beaver, to inspire those for years to come. 🫶🦫
I've just discovered that beavers have been released in a nature reserve where I live (UK). I've never seen one before but you can go and observe their set from a hide. I am ridiculously excited!
Well, if you go see, try to take some pix for us, but at least let us know what you see! Sounds fab!

In fact, archeologists have found that stone age farmers in the Middle East kept cats with them nearly 10,000 years ago. And when they moved to Europe, they took their rodent-eating companions with them. Research has also shown that precursors to modern housecats can be traced back to North Africa, only finding their way into Europe about 2,000 years ago.
Yeppers! Hadn't thought about it, but I just called my kitten and he actually crawled out from under the couch and came running. It was so sweet.
More like the sound of charging elephants wearing hob nail boots.
Looks like a livestock guardian breed type - possibly a Great Pyrenees! LGBs are amazing, intelligent dogs. (One of my dogs is half LGB.)
Load More Replies...When it comes to dogs, however, NewScientist notes that they were likely domesticated between 27,000 and 40,000 years ago. Meanwhile, the oldest known dog burial is over 14,000 years old. Back then, dogs were more than just pets, as they were likely used to hunt for food and help humans travel long distances. But it seems like people loved them, so it’s no surprise that so many humans are still obsessed with their doggos today.
As they should. Miss Peanut plays a vital role in her school's community.
Sorry, I don't buy it, must be a fake pic. A real cat would have sat right on the sprained ankle and refused to move.
My guess is that Steven King could make an entire novel from this one picture!
There are plenty of animals that are funny and amusing by human standards. So if you’re wondering which creatures tend to be the siliest, TourCompass has compiled a list. First up, they’ve got the dung beetle. This little guy is shockingly strong, the strongest animal on the planet, in fact. But we can’t help but laugh at what he chooses to eat and the fact that he rolls a giant ball of dung around with him at all times.
You know how Monty Python do the thing with coconut shells for horses? This would be pistachio shells.

I also sûck at drawing, so bad that I can't even draw a stick figure properly or draw a straight line with a ruler. I'd say this is 99% accurate, because even those of us who struggle to draw, we would at least make sure that the dog has a tail.

The pangolin is another fascinating creature that is one part adorable and one part hilarious. These guys resemble pine cones with legs, and they can roll up into a ball protected by their hard scales when feeling threatened. Pangolins don’t have any teeth, but their tongues, which are up to 16 inches long, can be used to eat termites, ants and larvae. These fascinating creatures can eat 70 million insects every year! Sadly, pangolins are highly endangered, so it’s crucial that humans do everything they can to protect them.

I've had a pigeon perch on my head. It's not comfy. (seriously, don't ask - I was quite young at the time)
Another adorable and interesting creature that we’re lucky to share this planet with is the quokka. This little marsupial is known as the “world’s sweetest animal,” as they often wear a huge smile on their faces. These tiny creatures inhabit the island of Rottnest, off the west coast of Australia, and weigh between 5.5 and 11 pounds. Despite how precious they are, though, it’s best to give these little guys their space. They are wild animals after all!

Perhaps it was catching insects attracted by the light. On the seventh day the caretaker's wife gave birth -- and the stork was seen no more, it's work done.

My doggy is a smirker when excited and sneezes as well, so cute but does look evil.
I had a Pomeranian when I was a kid. Can confirm. Sweetest dog to me, would pull my red wagon around like a sled dog if I harnessed her to it, but if someone else or a large dog approached? LET SLIP THE DOG OF WAR XD

Where's this poor cat's legs? Is it one of those awful 'munchkins' that is deliberately bred with a deformity because humans think it's 'cute'?
Could be but the face seems young. My guess is a kitten of the floof. Yes though, Munchkin cats are a horrid example of human egotism.
