Not Belgian but. Seems he resigned because of his Catholic religious beliefs. By resigning for a day the government as an entity could then pass the law and he could be reinstated after the law was passed with his conscience clear. Like a charm... Fun fact: the second guy from the right is Edward Teller, proponent of the hydrogen bomb, which happens to be exponentially more powerful than the nuclear bomb they were working on in the '40s. One of the arguments against it was that there wasn't a target warranting the immense destructive power even if such a bomb could be built in a reasonable time-frame.

So they had to invent and build newer, modern machinery and work their asses off to get the economy going again. The person that made this is obviously too young to remember that "Made in W. This was fun (though not for most of those portrayed). I listened to this awesome ancient history podcast a few summers ago (not Dark History - something else), and it was all about ancient rulers serving their rivals their own kid for dinner. Yowks. Times were not more peaceful, though maybe the casualty counts were lower, though Gengis Khan would like a word.
