This was me on a vacation to Greece - an Aussie man on a tour and I had a blast together for 3 weeks. He'd do thing like buy me baklava the first day and make sure I had a cup of coffee even though I slept through breakfast once. He'd sit beside me on the ferries, buses, and in restaurants with the two of us just talking away - one on a bus, he leaned over me to point out the window at a small chapel and said, "Someday I'm going to marry you in a church like that." I laughed because he was always being funny. Anyway, at the end in Istanbul, we exchanged info, hugs, and good-byes. I flew home to the States. A week later, back in Australia, he called and asked if he could stop by and see me on his to England. I said, "Sure." Turns out he had a three day stop-over in Singapore and couldn't stop thinking about me, so started looking at flights through my city to London. Well, he essentially never left except for the legality of things. We just celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary!

Me to !mine involves when being off from the army selection , having been accepted NOT going back to my job in the racing yard getting thrown off a lunatic horse on Cheltenham racecourse 🤦♀️n trashing my knee so bad I couldn’t go back , then getting bloody married to a wife beater , then a controlling pos ! so I would have had a long hopefully career in the army ! THIS! I was just talking about this the other day looking at home design and architecture. Homes used to be so bright and fun, same with some businesses (like McDonalds). One of my students was in conflict with her two parents about which college she should attend. Each of the three would talk to me individually with the request I not tell the other two what they had said. It became very difficult to keep track of what I knew and what I couldn't tell in each case. I finally cut to the chase with the student. I said, "The only real reason you don't want to go to college X is that your parents want you to go there, right?" "Well ... yes." "Then just go there!" And she did.

We moved into our Forever Home in 2014. Since then, we have replaced two furnaces, two central air conditioners (we have two separate systems), a water heater, two refrigerator-freezers, a microwave, a dishwasher, a roof, a shed, a fence, windows, doors, a couple of TVs, hardwood flooring, and other minor things. The washer and dryer, a microwave, and the kitchen range are still original. But we did have major maintenance on the range. When we bought the place, we told ourselves that we were buying 'projects for a lifetime'.

One of the reasons new construction costs more here in the Seattle area is that we build for safety against disasters. Fire-blocking drywall, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors, and builds that protect during earthquakes. I gotta ask, since Turkiye is earthquake-prone, do they build with earthquake-protections in mind? And are older buildings and roadways retrofitted against earthquakes?

At my little village when we sit at the outdoor tables at the local café, there is a tabac right next to the café where everyone stops to get ciggies, newspapers, and lottery tickets, and everyone sits at their table and rates the people who stop in front of the tabac to park on a 1 to 10 scale.
