Pffft! Early warnings of potential trouble date 90 years before that movie. The first fictional work about artificial intelligence (or machines) going wrong is often considered to be the short story "The Machine Stops" by E.M. Forster, published in 1909. Sci-fi stories explored themes of machines becoming too powerful, replacing human interaction, or actively rebelling against their creators long before modern computing technology existed. The fear of machine automation and its unintended consequences was a common trope in science fiction even by the 1930s.

Michael Largey: alas, I have a child who's learnt exactly how to drive his dad crazy. We get into mad little "I"m going to drive you mad; no, I'm going to drive *you* mad" arguments every now and then, which are probably mostly jokey. It's only recently I've figured out how to avoid losing horribly absolutely every time. It's true: madness is indeed hereditary: you catch if off your kids. (think carefully before criticising that remark)

Around here they always respond to a hang up. It's the standard operating procedure, in case someone was assaulted and their assailant hung up. The proper procedure if you dial 911 by mistake is to tell them and be convincing about it, not panic and hang up, which is admittedly one's first instinctive response!

Did you miss the part how she joined a platform focused on adult content even before she turned 18? The point of this post wasn't that she turned 18 and became an adult content creator. The point is that she has been commodified and filmed since she was a child and that yes, many men probably had séxual thoughts/fantasies about her long, long before she turned 18. No one is "upset" that men are attracted to an adult woman. It's about what happened BEFORE she became an adult.

I do feel that those who are OK with violence from female to male, should rethink their position. "Equality" ought to mean "what's not OK one way is equally not OK the other way" . Not quite. DVI can carry both digital *and* analogue signals. Clearly an HDMI only monitor isn't going to know what to do with a VGA signal. And there was a bit of confusion around this, which I think may have been a factor in why DVI didn't last long. But the guy is an idiot for not realising that the existing setup worked previously so was in fact compatible. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Not a matter of taste. A guy condescendingly interrupted me to explain that “classical” refers to all orchestral music (it includes a lot more than that as an umbrella term, buddy). I was talking about the classical period (1750-1820) as exemplified by Mozart and Haydn; studied music and music theory from 8-19 years old. I don’t blame him for not knowing that classical is both a generic term and a specific musical period. It was the arrogant assertion I had no clue what I was talking about.

People who gave YTAs are those insufferable "pranksters" who hurt others in the name of "jokes". OP's parents can't stand attention being paid to anything else other than over them. It's not a joke. It's not even remotely funny. Poor guy needs lashes? How about OP paints dad's eyelids when he's asleep? Or colour his eyebrows neon? Nice funny joke right OP drawing on his spreadsheets or tearing up is exactly same thing. Maybe it should be done so that he feels how "funny" it is. It's not surprising OP broke down. I work with two Jessicas. One is a real PITA, the other is lovely. Picking "a new name" is just as dumb as picking Karen was in the first place, as people blessed with the name in question are...people. Some nice, some less so. Nothing to do with the name their parents picked for them, unless maybe they are called Traiceae or some other name tragedeigh like that.

But did you go into cafés and restaurants to sell your stuff? I don’t see a business just accepting customers being approached in this way. Kids have come to my front door looking for donations or recycling they can exchange for cash. Colleagues have brought in donation or order sheets for their kids’ school or extracurricular activities money drives… never the kids themselves. I’ve seen donation boxes at the front desk in cafés, restaurants, bars and hotels, but never once a kid going up to unrelated patrons trying to sell something or ask for donations. I could be wrong, it just seems so unlikely nowadays, that the behaviour of interrupting customers while they eat would be tolerated.

The timeline for using umbilical cord stem cells is even later, the first recorded human use was in 2009 on a female patient; clinical trials for brain cancer only started in 2010, and are still ongoing. Glass children do exist, their lives are awful and we should have empathy. But OP is a liar, claiming stolen valour that simply can’t be true.
