Celebrities are our new royals. Extravagant, secretive, dramatic, with a whole PR team behind them, and influence over millions of fans all around the globe. It's not surprising to see carefully curated posts with cleverly placed brand deals on celebs' socials, but what are they really like? We sometimes get a glimpse into the personal lives of the famous, thanks to paparazzi pics, leaked info, or them just giving it up themselves. We can hate them, we can love them, but we will watch them.
We've already learned about famous people who are jerks, or just plainly disappointing in real life, but Reddit user AccomplishedDrag7526 wanted to know if there are celebs that nobody hates. And their post got some traction: over 16k people wanted to share their picks, with some even sharing how they met the said celebs in person. Whether we like it or not, famous people have great influence, and it's very important that they lead with a good example and speak out about society's issues, especially when it comes to shaping the youth.
For this list, Bored Panda selected the most universally loved celebs, those that have a good reputation for a reason, advocate for what they believe in, are kind and supportive, and don't make others feel like less than them. Scroll down, make sure to upvote your favorites, and if we missed a celeb that you adore, make sure to share it in the comments!

Keanu Reeves
My dad once said the world is just a Keanu Reeves fan club
Even when he's bad, he's good. Let's be honest, he was miscast in Dracula but also there's something charming in there too.
Atrocious accent, but you're right - there's something so charming about his performance.

Robin Williams
He's loathed by many of his peers in stand up comedy for being an unapologetic joke thief. He would go local comedy clubs, then tell the joke on Johnny Carson or a special, and write a check afterwards for what he thought it was worth. Many comedians tell stories of having him ruin their own appearances by telling their best jokes. I love him and there is no denying his influence on comedy but he's not universally loved like the article header implies.
I met Robin in a cafe around the corner from where I live (his two kids went to high school a block away). I said, as I usually do to celebrities I admire, "Big fan. Love your work." (I believe acknowledging that what they do is 'work' is better received). He invited me to sit and drink my coffee while he ate lunch. He was gracious to the many generally younger people who came up and asked him help get them into movies, saying. "That's not my end of the business but you should try. Take some acting classes, volunteer with a local theater company, and keep at it." Our conversation lasted over an hour and included talking about our daughters who were close in age. He asked if I'd read "Harry Potter" yet, the second book having just come out. I hadn't but at his suggestion I did and followed his second suggestion that I read it aloud to my daughter. Later I did, even though she'd already read it.
But even still I think about what it would have been like for his kids to have their dad, f**cking ROBIN WILLIAMS, reading the book aloud and making up voices for all the characters. That's a book-on-tape I'd listen to!

Brendan Fraser, dude went through hell both physically & emotionally from back injuries & being sexually violated and is finally coming back to Hollywood. Dude is as friendly and humble as he ever was and I wish him the best.
"George of the Jungle" is one of my go tos when I'm feeling sad. Its literally idiotic but I can't help feeling that both myself and the world will be ok while watching it.
YEEEAHHHH!!! GO BRENDAN!!!!!!! Absolutely f**king overjoyed with his comeback.
Sometimes we get to see the pain and grief someone in the public eye experiences and we wish we could have held their hand or given them a hug. He deserves the riches of love.
The Mummy 1&2 are my favorite films, and for some reason they were on a LOT about 10 years ago. I'd sit down on a Friday turn on the tube and one of them would be playing on one channel or another. It was like seeing Indiana Jones pop up - hell yeah, get the popcorn. Just love him in Doom Patrol, too.
And please can our American friends pronounce his surname properly! Fraser, like razor, not like the sitcom, Frasier. He mentioned it in an interview recently with Adam Sandler.
Enough, just enough already with the American c**p. People who know how to pronounce properly do, it does not matter where you are from to get it right. But thanks for trying to correct Americans about an American Canadian. And Mr Sandler is ours as well.
Load More Replies...There are some people on Twitter that talk smack about him, especially after the first news of "The Whale" - but it's Twitter, so no surprise
Encino Man is one of my favourite movies, not just because he is in it. He also has a tiny uncredited role in the 1995 movie Now and Then (Christina Ricci, Thora Birch, Demi Moore, Rosie O'Donnell, Rita Wilson and more) as a Vietnam veteran. I had a crush on the actor who played Scott Wormer (another Canadian actor, Devon Sawa) as a teenager and I've seen that movie dozens and dozens of times. I have it on VHS, that's how old I am.
I'm right there with you- I LOVED that movie- I too had a crush on Devon Sawa- he was a cutie as the human "Casper" in the animated Casper the friendly ghost movie!- I didn't own many VHS tapes- but I do have memories of recording shows off the tv o to VHS tapes a lot!

Dolly Parton just seems like a truly genuine, kind-hearted, and amazingly talented wise soul.
Her charity knows no bounds. She is a national treasure.
I'm in BC, Canada...but we have the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program here. Since my daughter was born...the program mails her a free book every month, and will do so until she's 5 years old (she's 2 now) for FREE. It's to encourage reading and education in children. I love it! ❤️

Alan Rickman
He played his villains as funny to point out that being evil was also being ridiculous.
My dog hated Alan Rickman for reasons I could never figure out. Any time Professor Snape or Hans Gruber or Judge Turpin came on screen, she'd go crazy, barking her head off. In fact, that was how I first realised she was going deaf: Alan Rickman was speaking on screen, and she didn't even notice. (And then I could go back to enjoying Mr Rickman's performances in peace.)
That's fascinating. I wonder if it was his tone of voice in those movies that set her off. Perhaps his voice sounded threatening to her.

Julie Andrews. I actually went on tour with Julie for 2 weeks. It was one of those: “An evening with…” type things. By the first day she knew all the crews names, chatted with everyone, telling stories and asking about our lives. By the third show she was the crew Mum, making sure we were all getting enough rest and food. She literally stopped a rehearsal when our breakfast was late being delivered so we could all go and eat. And on the last show she gave us all hugs, a bottle of whisky and a hand written letter saying thank you. It’s the only time once a show ended that we were all a bit sad because we wouldn’t see her again. Beautiful woman inside and out.
"Do a deer, a female deer ..." My parents grew up watching this movie. I grew up watching this movie. I want my kids to watch this movie at least once in their growing years.
In the US its always shown the week before Christmas on TV and my family has a tradition of watching it every year. Julie Andrews is a much of a member of our holiday family as Santa Claus.

Ms Andrews was married to comic director par excellence, Blake Edwards and loved to crack up people with jokes on set. She was completely aware of the "pure" image of her characters and was notorious for telling jokes that would make a sailor blush.
David Attenborough! He's a national treasure!
Not much a fan of the. whole "Honours" thing since most are just bought or publicity gimmicks but if anyone deserves it, it is him.
Load More Replies...My advisor had a picture on the wall of his office of grinning Sir Attenborough holding a tiny frog while wearing a tuxedo shirt that looked like someone had stabbed him repeatedly.. In the early 90s, he received an award and made an appearance at a fundraiser for a local PBS TV station. My thesis advisor was a grad student at the time for a professor friend of Sir Attenborough and was delegated with being his chauffeur for the time he was in the US. An hour into the gala, he came out of the gala covered in blood and announced they were going to go see the spring peepers (Pseudacris crucifer) , a species of frogs < 1 inch/25mm that all form a chorus when its the night to breed in their local pond. They sound like sleigh bells when they are doing their thing. He had gone into the bathroom and given himself a bloody nose so he could escape and see a unique feat of nature only happening that night.
I've had his voice my whole life and I have him to thank for my love and appreciation of nature
Sir David Attenboroush is a true world treasure. He has introduced people around the world o the beauty and complexity of the natural world and has helped many people foster a love for animals and nature. He is also a relentless fighter for climate change.
Patrick Stewart
Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen’s bromance is outstanding. Relationship goals!
It's beautiful, it warms my heart. There's a real problem with older men not having meaningful relationships. Wouldn't it be great if all our dad's and grandads had friends that they could really talk to about their feelings? That takes courage

The late Fred Rogers. I met him when I was a young punk working in a video rental store. He was truly truly a saint. He chatted with us for a while and treated me and my metal head co worker with the same respect and love that he treated everyone on his show, and as he left told us he was proud to have such fine upstanding young men as his neighbors.
One of my favorite memories.
Since I grew up in Australia we never had Mr Rogers on the TV, and I feel like we missed out on something very special.
Same in the UK. Dude is a legend, wish we'd had him on our screens.

Load More Replies...I have never heard *anything* about him that wasn't 100% wholesome. His mom made all of his sweaters. He announced when he was feeding the fish so a blind girl would know that they were okay. He kept his weight at 143lbs because 1, 4 and 3 are the number of letters in "I", "love" and "you". The list goes on.
I would watch him after school on PBS. The next show was "The French Chef", with Julia Child. I fell in love with cooking. Love Fred Rogers, Love Julia.
I grew up watching Mr. Rogers and little Daniel Tiger as I had relatives in the US. He was truly a kind and gentle soul. I love how his show featured people from all different ethnicities and walks of life.
He weirded me out as a little kid in the 70s. Something about him changing his sweater and shoes and his soft spoken voice freaked me out. His puppets freaked me out, too. They're mouths didn't move and they all had the same voice. I know it was all just me and he's an American Icon, but I couldn't help the way he creeped me out. This from a guy whose favorite muppet lived in a trash can. LOL.
I can see why this might be unsettling for some kids. I now think Bob Ross is fantastic, but his voice used to make me feel oddly fearful and I still don't know why. Maybe it was something in the tone? I don't know, but it doesn't affect me like that anymore.

Wow, that guy in the picture somehow looks like Tony Hawk. Has anyone ever told him?
Tony Hawk's sense of humour about the "Legend that is Tony Hawk" is absolutely awesome.
He helped fund the skatepark in my hometown. Didn't play the fame card. Just was a humble dude that was willing to listen to anyone.
I was just thinking about how he talks about himself when he was just starting out. He definitely had issues and was a bit problematic for the people around him. He has changed though.

Steve Buscemi. He seems super nice. We trick or treat in the same neighborhood every year and he nearly always dresses up to hand out candy and is great with all the kids.
He also returned to his old fire station in NY when 9/11 happened and helped as fire fighter.

I knew someone who hates him. She has all sorts of ugly stories about why that anyone with half a brain cell would know are simply not true or even viable. Why are some people such ugly haters? I actually first saw him in the late eighties when he was unknown on the big screen, he was in a stage production in Australia of beauty and the Beast. Played that town schmuck who was chasing Bella. I was stunned at his presence, I knew he would make it big, he totally owned that role and the stage, so glad I was right.

Levar Burton i think. Who can hate the reading rainbow guy!
Between reading rainbow and star trek this guy played a large role in my childhood. He seems like a good guy, thank goodness.
Reading Rainbow never aired here in Brazil (as far as I know), so I knew Burton only from Star Trek. When I found out about Reading Rainbow, my respect for the man skyrocketed.

'Weird Al' Yankovic. He's the nicest guy. When I was 12, I was in the hospital with brain tumors. Al called my hospital room, sent me a care package, and invited me backstage at a few concerts that summer.

The late and great Steve Irwin
Bit of a grey area, Steve. Yes, excellent conservation work, but also a lack of care and respect toward animals that has been emulated by too many dickheads who want to pretend to be him.
Hallelujah! I always felt that he used animals as an ego booster.
Load More Replies...Speaking as an ecologist, I can't stand him. He habitually antagonized animals, was unnecessarily forceful, and just generally was the Bear Grylls of the conservation world. Did he do a lot of good as well? Yes. Was it at a time when his type of show was still in its infancy and there was a general attitude of anything goes? Also yes. But unfortunately, still too many people try and emulate him to this day. What happened to him was incredibly sad but also avoidable and he should not be held up as a gold standard of conservation work.
I hated the way he taunted and stressed the poor animals just to get more spectacular shots. He had absolute no respect for nature, to him it all was just a big show. And yeah, taunting a huge crocodile while you're holding your newborn daughter in one arm is just a dikk-move and completely irresponsible.
PETA hates him, they even made an ad about his death back then. I mean nobody likes them, so they didn't have anything to lose I guess?
PETA should be the one to talk. PETA is renown for their horrible shock tactics. For example, they compared chickens in cages to people dying in concentration camps during the Holocaust. PETA openly shames people who do not feed their pets a vegan diet, which is absolutely dangerous for ANY animal. They have also been know to kill animals in their overcrowded shelters.
Load More Replies...As an Australian it is so refreshing to see people calling him out.He basically annoyed animals for a living. He showed no respect for nature or anything really.Remember him dangling his new born son in front of a huge crocodile? And when called out about it,he fobbed it off as getting "a bit excited".And it finally one of those harassed animals bit him in the @rse(so to speak). His wife Teri then duped her father -in-law out of the zoo that he had created and grown and cut him off from his Grandchildren ..She shoved the children, mainly the really oddly annoying girl, into the spotlight before she could even walk. And now they are doing it to baby. It's revolting to watch.
I'm Aussie too and I detest the hero worship. You want to educate people about animals? Then you record them quietly, you don't grab them and leap around with them and thrust them to the camera.
