What's even worse is that other countries (Aus for example) are following the lead of the U.S (has a lot to do with Murdochs influence) in going out of their way to create the same issues the U.S has. Bafflingly, very few people seem to care about this. We have a federal election today, where both options aren't great (much like the U.S). Even the slightly less-s**t party doesnt plan on addressing the many glaring issues with social policies. Im very much hoping that they will have to negotiate with some independents to form government - but that's not looking likely.

Mr Dunstan - Year 4... yelled at me and made me stand up in front of the class for talking... (which i wasn't). Asked multiple times " We're you talking"... my response "No" Got me up the front after 4 or 5 times.... then i got a few whacks of the cain.... the reason - i didnt say "No Sir" instead of just No. He had never before or after asked us to call him Sir. If i ever see that f*****g prick in hell im going to smash his evil head to a pulp.

Fairly boring version here.... I grew up in a lower-middle income family, had a work ethic from that, first one in my family to go to uni - back when you could deliver pizzas and earn enough to survive while going to uni (wouldnt want to try that now) After that i worked in IT - and i turned out to be quite decent at my job... after approx 27 years of 60-100 hours weeks, i shut down my small business (which had run for approx 14 of those 27 years) and now just do odd-projects here and there. When you charge an hourly rate, 100 hour weeks add up fast. Im currently worth around 4 million.... but me and the wife are very frugal... always have been.... bought a nice house - but outside of that we have low end cars (or car - as we're in the process of moving down to one), kids go public school, wear cheapy clothes from bigW... we just dont really want stuff... The long hours destroyed my health and many interpersonal relationships.... so i dont recommend this path

Someone Asks What Is "The Most Frugal Hack You’ve Discovered That Made The Most Difference" And 30 People Deliver

For us - we went from 2 cars down to 1 car.... when combining work from home, riding my bike where possible and general less usage - it has had a similar-ish effect as far as saving money and being slightly fitter. no car would be great - but not realistic depending on where you live and the stage of your life.

The Majority Of The Human Race Are Narrow, Deluded, Arbitrary Believers In Fantasies

The majority of the human race are narrow, deluded, arbitrary believers in fantasies, willfully ignorant about everything not immediately useful to them, violent, destructive, warlike, tribal as hell, and willing - under the right motivation or excuse - to commit any imaginable atrocity or horror on others... even their own neighbors. Humans are brutal apes with a thin veneer of civilization barely holding them back from constant genocide and cruelty. I didn't want to believe this, and I have fought this conclusion for all of my 62 years. But I am rational, it cannot be denied. It must be accepted. Whatever glory humans achieve, they can never truly be trusted. I cannot dismiss this any longer.

Not really "controversy".... those of us that are not religious are generally not fans of religious people trying to impose their beliefs on us via powerful lobby groups or utilising taxpayer money to build mega-mansions and/or defend child rapists. If religious organisations would stop trying to impose their sick world view on everyone else and start paying tax - then yes, what you said would be the case. (and yes, i am well aware of the paradox there) And no - religion does not "equal" charity.... charities are charities... and if advancement of religion was no longer a tax free loophole, it would in no way impact charitable activities (if any) of religious orgs.

Nuclear engineer here, and if you think radiation is the devil incarnate then buckle in for a quick second as I tell you that: 1) No one from Fukushima died from radiation exposure. You saw pictures of the horrific devastation from the earthquake and tsunami. Flooding a nuclear plant doesn't topple buildings. 2) Nuclear is one of the safest, renewable, and cleanest energy sources that exist. Second cleanest only to water (and air if you count that). 3) Unless we start growing energy and picking it off the vine, oil and coal will run out in the very foreseeable future and nuclear is the way to go. 4) You get more radiation from eating a banana than anyone ever did from 3 Mile Island. The most radiation I get everyday is from my morning fruit and I play with radioactive sources and crystals all day. 5) Nuclear is actually really cool and by making it to the bottom of the list you're pretty cool too. Doctors/healthcare workers use dark humour as a form of resilience not to be callous or flippant. A lot of traumatic events occur in a hospital on a daily basis. Sometimes a dark joke is the difference between breaking down emotionally or being able to compartmentalise and treat you with all our wits about us.
