I wasn’t referring to the person in question - just a general point that an “old person” appearance appears to excuse a multitude of sins in many people’s eyes. A lot of the time rudeness and nastiness in such a person is misinterpreted as “sass” when it’s just a shitty person who was always shitty. My wife’s hometown is a favourite for retirement communities and the amount of horrible behaviour from elderly people is absolutely breathtaking at times 🙂

Hungarian here and this picture hurts my soul :) What you English speaking people call paprika is indeed dried and ground peppers but of a specific kind. It's actually called "spice pepper" in Hungarian. It is not the giant bell pepper in the picture but a small red thing, most similar to chili peppers in appearance. There are hot and mild versions as well but the main thing is you can't just dry any sort of peppers and call it paprika. And yes, in Hungarian (and a bunch of other languages) every bell pepper is also called paprika, usually with a moniker like stuffing paprika, Californian paprika (that would be the one pictured) etc.

A friend of mine believed that ADs were bad and always refused any help of this kind. While there were several factors involved here his refusal to countenance any meds led to him developing ever more extreme behaviour and sadly, ultimately to him taking his own life. I still believe meds might have stopped him taking things so far but the stigma prevented him from taking them.

Choosing not to have kids if you don't feel like you'd be a good/happy parent or be able to support them (emotionally, mentally, financially, socially). Like I don't think I really want kids because I don't think it would be good for me/I wouldn't be super happy as a mom. I'm on my way to full financial stability but I won't even consider it until I'm there. My mom keeps pushing me to have a kid even though I still drive an 08 piece of shit, rent, and have $60k student loans. Like, I'm not there, my kid is gonna have to go without like I did and I personally don't want to actively try to have a kid so they can go without. If I did change my mind, I would want to make sure they had a really fulfilling life. My mom had me because she wanted a kid. She got knocked up by a dude that didn't want me so I grew up without a dad. She was a poor, alcoholic. I grew up shit and hated most of my childhood. I don't want to be selfish like her and inflict that on a kid "just because I wanted a kid".
