Im a manager, chef, barista, bartender, waitress and sales.. guess which of those jobs most men believe i do. A male coworkers has the same jobs. Even after i tell them what i do, i cant be in charge im just the waitress there... they never question my male coworker

I work at a restaurant and im in charge of the beer. If anyone needs advice they usually ask looking at the menu, look up to me and say 'oh nevermind'. Usually they go and ask my male coworker or just order our regular lager. Sometimes when i just keep on talking i can impress them but usually they stop listening. Next to the fact im female im also really short and look a bit younger. I have brewed my own beer, went to mutiple brewery's and factory's. Trying and learning about different beer and types of beer is something im quite serious about and i can almost garantee that i know a whole lot more that most men.

Indeed. I am so glad im happily married and sane instead of this nonsense. And i think its because i do not make my husband extremely cautious of his words and actions. Being nice obviously goes both ways and shouldnt be that hard. These posts might make people believe that it is okay to behave this way. The toxicity shouldnt be normalised.

I manage a restaurant. The owner is female too. She isnt around much so i took over most things. People keep asking for the owner or manager. When i tell them thats me they look confused and say dumb stuff like 'ya no some thats like.. in charge' which i just told them is me. Most of the time they just leave. When i told someone my male coworker is the bartender but that the owner is the woman inside i got told 'geez they can get away with anything these days'. I am usually 'just a waitress makinb some pocket money' or they think im just hired because im the owners daughter or married to the chef. Im neither. Im also really short and people keep talking over my head to my male coworker. Usually he just leaves mid conversation which is cool of him. But dumb that its necessary. Before i got this function i was the chef and when i got compliments for the chef i thanked that and told them that that was me. I got told 'no the real chef'.

I would have been tempted to kick them out at the first suggestion of naming the baby. Who on earth thinks that they have a right to name someone else's baby? I worked at mcdonalds as a teenager but it was easier back then. You either had to order at the register of the drive thru. People go crazy when they can order online. If you are ordering for a large group like that just call them. We once got an order for 500 burgers without a call. It took so look and the rest of the restaurant had to wait very long. Also just order a bunch of regular burger. If youre with 40 and everyone wants a special request of topping youre just straight up satan.
