People used to be able to say the most eyebrow-raising, head-scratching things in the privacy of their own living rooms. Now, with a megaphone to the whole world in every pocket, we are treated to some plain jaw-dropping lack of common sense.
Take the old "reply-all" email disaster, now multiplied a million times. Someone makes a simple inquiry on an open posting ("Does anyone know a good plumber?") and the comment stream blows up with everything from government-conspiracy theories around water pipes to a lengthy treatise on how Bluetooth faucets will spell the doom of civilization.

They're practically Shakespearean in their lack of ability to construct a well-formatted sentence, and yet they're certain that they're the ones who are redefining history. Of course, we can't rule out the viral misinformation buffet. One minute your newsfeed is filled with adorable puppy videos, the next it's clogged up with "facts" about cucumbers curing cancer or how your house plant is spying on you for the Illuminati.

Social media also does a great job of revealing the armchair philosophy grandstanding habits. Some people always think they know better. This is not relate to vaccines at all but - I’m in marketing and I’m constantly arguing with sales about what they think we should do. They want me to send weekly marketing emails and 2x a week text blasts and do nothing but sales videos and send tons of mail. I know that literally just písses people off and loses email subs and followers and makes people dislike us and associate us with being desperate and annoying 😂 but do they believe me, the marketing professional who went to school for this? Some US cities are trying out "tiny home" villages that seem to be helping. They have communal toilets/showers and food. But they also bring in people to work with the inhabitants to get jobs and find stable housing. A couple decades ago I used to stop and talk with a homeless guy when I saw him. He had family across the river, and explained that he preferred being homeless. It was a northern city so winters must have been rough. It was very enlightening to hear it from his POV.

The (to me) most perverse part is that NONE of the top 5% will even notice, day to day, how much more money they'll have, while the others (poorest 20% especially) will have to start economising even more. Also: if the bottom 20% had $1000 more per month they'd immedialtely spend most of it (on "fun stuff" like groceries, rent, renovations, school equipment, etc), funnelling it all back into the economy - while the top 5%'s money will not change anything. Not for the receivers, and not for society (because even if the top 1% spend it all it's still WAY less money than the collective low 20s would spend, and because they'd spend it on the small slice of the over saturated luxury market instead of essentials, where it would benefit locals nation wide). Money needs to flow to create wealth - stagnant money only creates oligarch cesspits.
