Who TF returns a cat to the shelter for being “too playful”, ffs? Part of the point of rescuing an animal is to see them feel safe, secure, and comfortable enough for their real personalities to come through, for them to get kittenish (or puppyish, you get the idea) again and start being playful. That’s a beautiful thing to see happen, and the beginning of many wonderful years together, not a reason to return them to the shelter.

I think most of us can agree on one thing: cats are basically walking comedy. We’re all eternally grateful for the laughs and happy emotions they give us. I worked with a woman years ago who used to go with our group to the Auto Show each year. We mustered everyone at my house and my friend is sitting in the floor telling me how she doesn't like cats "cause they're sneaky" while my male cat is confidently strolling up to her for pets, that he got, from her. Cats can win people over on their own.
Cats are often portrayed as aloof, independent little creatures who only care about their own needs and couldn’t care less about humans. That couldn’t be further from the truth. They experience a wide range of feelings and can become genuinely attached to their owners.
According to Cats.com, cats can feel things like sadness and anxiety, and sometimes they’re just being silly.
The good news is, when they’re happy, they usually make it pretty clear. Cats have plenty of “I’m content” signals: purring, slow blinking like they’re giving you a tiny compliment, curling up close, or settling in so comfortably you start wondering if you’re the guest in their home.

I have way too many cats distributed across a big house. At some point, I starting knowing when one of them is missing.
That said, purring isn’t always a guaranteed sign everything is purr-rfect. In rarer cases, a cat might purr when they’re stressed or in pain, almost like they’re trying to calm themselves down.
Kneading is another common sign they’re happy. And then there’s one that catches a lot of people off guard: drooling. That one genuinely surprised me the first time I saw it.
I used to think it was strictly a dog thing, so when a cat started drooling on me, I panicked like something was seriously wrong. Turns out, some cats drool when they’re extremely relaxed and content. Love that for them. My sleeve… not so much.

We rescued a kitten she was about 6 months old. I saw her getting knocked up in my backyard and we took her inside. It was obvious that her litter of four proved to have two dads. Two of her kittens had mostly her color with a little bit of a black and white tux cat and her other two kittens had their other dad's coloring of gray with just a little bit of her tan color. According to PetMD, there are a few reasons they can’t resist doing it. One is instinct. Cats are predators, and they’re hardwired to react to movement. A small object sitting on the edge of a counter might as well be a tiny prey animal that needs to be tested with a paw. The pushing and dramatic slow-motion launch are all part of the experience.
Or they’ve learned the most powerful life lesson of all: cause a minor inconvenience, and a human will appear immediately. Some cats absolutely knock things over on purpose because they know you’ll rush in, talk to them, pick it up, and give them attention. Basically: performance art.

Because honestly, if someone knocked your stuff over on purpose just to get your attention, you’d have to admit that’s… kind of clever. Years ago, there was a feral cat who lived around our apartment building who had litter after litter of kittens. We'd see them skulking around the property, eating food that was left for them. And then one time, out of the litter, she had one very self-possessed orange kitten who just wasn't about that feral life. All it took was a can of tuna and the promise of the easy life for him to move in and become our first kid.

My "sweet(see full name hahaha) Atti (Ms Attitude) went across the rainbow bridge (idk if thats the right term) Monday 12/22. She was so much more than my kitty. For 12 years she was my baby girl and i her baby boy that didnt know how to hunt (leaves, a shoe(?? idk lol), keys etc as gifts). I want to get a bonded pair of kittens (atti was alone) and the sock trick im gonna remember

We tried it when our cat was still a kitten and saw our sweet, timid girl turn into a dragon. So, when we had to put a bodysuit on her yesterday, we were fully prepared for a trip to the hospital (for us, not her). Turns out she developed a sense of fashion during puberty and thinks she's quite fancy. Now we have to armour up when we want to remove the suit. CATS!!!!

Pet Insurance is more than necessary, except when you find out after the $7000 for the pup's slipped patella surgery was considered as an existing medical condition. Dropped Insurance premiums as we were paying twice. Vet bills still paid
