Isn't it better to be afraid to smoke or drink? That way, people are more cautious about them. They aren't exactly good for your health anyway. (I mostly think of smoking when I say this. I don't drink personally, but I am fine with others drinking in moderation.)

Reminds me of my twenties. Part time waitress, no days off, living in a dump where the other tenants were hookers and glue sniffers and the rent collector was a Mafia enforcer. If nothing else then just go and spoil your ballet paper. I don't know about elsewhere but in the UK political parties take spoilt papers seriously. If the numbers go up in an area they will investigate why the candidate they are putting forward isn't appealing. They want to solve that problem before anyone else. It can also inspire more independent candidates to put themselves forward with different agendas. At the very least it makes it loud and clear that things aren't good enough. Political parties regard non-voters as a lost cause and don't waste money trying to find out how they can get them to vote for their candidate.

Conservatives are like vegans, they will tell you, without being asked who they are.
