I agree that it's not a black and white issue, however I think your example is actually a very good one to show the opposite. Gay rights very much had pushback on the exact same basis, that giving them rights would erode other peoples. That they should not be allowed to work in education etc because parents had the right to "protect" their children from being "exposed" to such things. You had people saying that homosexuality should not be illegal, but that they should hide it and keep it behind closed doors because it is offensive in public. The right not to be treated by a homosexual doctor, not to have homosexuals serve you food etc. In the US you had the Gay Panic defense, where charges and sentencing could be reduced if the victim was gay because it was "understandable" that a straight person would react more violently to them. Every rights movement faces backlash from people saying they will lose their rights by allowing those people into their space.

Our rights weren't taken away. That was just said to make women afraid. Or rather: they WERE taken away - after women who were made afraid of trans people ran into the arm of right win politicians, who now erode our reproductive rights and now take aim at our financial and voting rights. Nobody have a s**t about trans people living among us, and there were no big problems reported. And then, about 5,6 years ago, sudddenly tweets turned up on twitter (and I guess, on FB, too) with "concerns" about trans people sharing our spaces. Since then, trans people did nothing different from before, but now 'butch' looking women get harassed and beaten up, trans women get killed, and men control female toilets. But hey, you know what we can get now (at least in the UK)? Men entering a women's toilet by claiming they were trans men who "have to" use it.

I have no problem with anyone being trans until it comes to sports competitions. And I wouldn't have a problem with that if they would do research to see how long it takes for the body on female hormones to be at least in the ballpark of the average sportswoman. If you come out as a trans woman today but haven't been on hormones, then you are going to be stronger than the average woman born at birth. I thought that was her issue.

What rights are trans people taking away from women specifically? We do know laws are being passed against trans people.
