50 Times People Were Genuinely Surprised By How Wholesome These Celebrities Are In Real Life
Celebrities are often called out for being cold and out of touch. But some of them go the extra mile to make regular folks happy even when the cameras are off and there are no paparazzi around to get them good publicity. Simply just because.
So when Reddit user Qazival asked other platform users to share memorable celeb encounters, many stepped up with better-than-expected stories.
From Ryan Gosling congratulating college graduates to Renee Zellweger volunteering for an animal rescue organization, continue scrolling to check out who the real protagonists are.
(While we can't confirm 100% of these moments are real, these people are supposedly speaking from their own experiences.)

I met Renee Zellweger and she was so much kinder than I ever could have imagined. This was when hurricane Harvey hit Texas. I was working at Austin Pets Alive and we took in thousands of animals from hard hit areas. It was insane. One day Renee Zellweger just showed up to volunteer. No warning, no fanfare. In fact, the only reason I noticed her is that she was wearing long sleeves and long pants and it was august in Texas. She spent a week volunteering. She did laundry, cleaned out poop covered crates, and drove vans of dogs from Houston to Austin (not a pleasant job with the smell and the barking). I hope this doesn’t get buried because she was truly amazing. So so nice and hardworking. The laundry room was next to my office so we became friendly over the week she was there. There are multiple news articles about this so it’s legit. Forever a fan.
This is really good to hear among all the c**p celebrity stories. Wholesome.
Robin Williams was shooting a film in my city he stopped by the nearest senior home just to say hello and take pictures with the residents. No other reason than to brighten up their day class act of a man. My grandma was a resident
The more we learn about Robin, the more we find out how he just gave away chunks of his heart and soul every day to make life a little more bearable for the rest of us until he just didn't have anything left. An amazing human.
Robin is always on lists like these, but I don't recall ever seeing him at #1. I think we should change that.
Love that man, you hear nothing but how nice a guy he was, what a dreadful loss.
He was a major part of my childhood and I also loved him in *Dead Poets’ Society.* RIP, Robin Williams.
I’m so sad about robin . He was a man who clearly was screaming out for help in his final days . I wished I could go back and time , befriend him and hopefully would have stopped his suicide. RIP Robin . We really did love you
He did charitable things in almost all the cities he visited. Even if it was just stopping by a food bank with a check and a couple of quick photos with staff.
Mrs. Doubtfire is one of my favourite movies, it's just so hilarious and weird that When I first saw it, I just felt like it was the greatest movie I've ever seen. RIP Robin Williams, your movies were hilarious, especially Mrs. Doubtfire.
Robin was amazing and every day the universe exists without him is lesser.
I was about 8 when I stumbled across Stephen King. He was in a rush getting out of a limo into a building, so I quick shouted "Mr. King I love Cujo!" He gave me a bemused smile and said "Who the hell let this kid read Cujo?!"
I’ve always wanted to meet Stephen King...he set me on my path of loving the supernatural .
I met him at the Red Cross station down the road from his house when I was donating blood. He did too - super chill, and we split a dominos pizza while we were recovering.
When I was in fourth grade, I ordered off of those book companies sheets that come in every month “And Then There Were None” by Agatha Christie. My mother was totally fine with me wanting to read this book, which mind you was a murder mystery bent towards adults. I understood it all too.

I saw Keanu Reeves walking around LA a year ago and I asked for a picture. After the picture I said I like his shirt and he said he liked mine. I coincidentally had a bill and teds excellent adventure shirt on.
There was a video I was watching, these guys were doing a matrix impression and Keanu Reeves happened to be driving by and said hi to them
I've heard he also supports a children's hospital (by monetary donations). I read he shared a cab with a couple and pointed out some different spots to visit. He's an all around good guy.
I met Ryan Reynolds before he became famous. I was in a stall in the ladies room of a restaurant and someone came in and used the stall beside me who was definitely not female. As I was washing my hands, he came out of the stall and gave me a puzzled look. Then he got a look on his face of absolute horror and checked to find out he was, indeed, in the ladies room. He apologized, I told him I wasn't going to report him or anything.
Came back to the restaurant and scanned the place to see if I could find him. He wasn't famous back then, but he was still cute as f**k. He spotted me looking for him and came over to chat. Very flirty and funny, we had a great conversation.
Six months later I started watching Two Guys, A Girl, and a Pizza Place and there he was. I'm glad he's enjoyed so much success. He deserves it.
I just adore Ryan Reynolds, in a maternal sort of way. I just want to make sandwiches for him.
I used to be an OTR trucker for a few years. Loved it! I just got off a long haul, was deadbeat tired and headed into a truck stop bathroom before I settled in for a long cozy nap. I walked in and thought, "Huh?! odd there are urinals in the women's bathroom." Sat in a stall and thought, "Geesh there's a lot of graffiti here!" Went out to wash my hands and there are two men at the urinals that give me an odd look. Oh no?! Yup... I had gone into the men's bathroom. They teased me about it a few minutes later in the truck stop restaurant. Glad they weren't creeps or assholes about it!
He was famous in Canada. He was on a show called "Fifteen" when he was a kid.
I've been trying to find a copy of that show online for years!

My friend and I were at the Chicago airport catching a flight and we saw him, she recognized him but I didn’t know who he was, just saw he was cute. We followed him through the airport and then he went into the bathroom and was probably hiding from us, or going number 2 lol, he was in there awhile, and we had to leave to catch our flight. I’ll never forgot the time I stalked Ryan Reynolds in an airport.
ME TOO! I'm in the states and it's rare I find someone who's even heard of it. Degrassi is usually the only show they know.

When I was like 3 I met Barack Obama at the Iowa state fair, he spent 5 minutes listening to me tell a story about my f*****g tooth. My mom said that when he was talking to me it was like I was the only person in the world.
You can usually trust someone who is as good with kids as President Obama is.
He IS genuinely kind and charming. I met him just a few weeks before he won the party nomination in 2008. I had a brief chat with him about keeping his promise regarding supporting military families. He looked me in the eye and assured me he would and then asked me about my military experience and he truly listened. He thanked me and we parted ways. Several weeks later my colleague, John, who was with me that day was at a convention where Obama was the keynote speaker. John was representing our state and so was one of the key people to meet with Obama. When it was Jon's turn to to talk with Obama he said you know actually we've already met sir back in August. And he told me Obama looked at him and said "oh yes you were with a nice young woman whose husband had been deployed 11 times." I was absolutely stunned that I made an impression on Barack Obama. Definitely one of my most proudest accomplishments of my life Barack Obama remembered me!!
Load More Replies...I've not met him, but my other half did. He was assigned to shadow him (news crew) for 10 days. Pre President. Said he was nice, genuine and considerate to everyone he met. I told him to get an autograph and SO just laughed at me, saying he didn't do that. And I was like "That guy is gonna be president!" and still got laughed at. No, never did get that autograph lol
I haven't met him personally, but my other half was assigned to follow him for 10 days when he was in the UK (pre president). He said he was very genuine, friendly and considerate.
I hate Obama as a President. But the amount of stories I hear of him as a man and not a president are too much. I will always respect him for being the President even if I didn't like him nor vote for him. But I respect him for genuinely being a nice person. He is also quite funny. I saw him enter a building I was working at being an a*****e I am. Yelled I didn't vote for you. And he turned and looked at me and said I wouldnt of voted for you neither. Shook his hand too. Nice guy.
I told my wife " I couldn't stand him as President. Then I watched him with Jerry Seinfeld on Comedians in cars get coffee. I could hangout with him and just shoot the s**t with him and have a beer. He's definitely a great father and husband and very down to earth especially when he was President. But his policy's and his socialist ideas

Robin Williams was THE KINDEST human being as you’d expect. He used to ski where my family does. One day I was out in rather blizzardy conditions and my mom was sitting inside noticeably worried. He chatted with her and told jokes to relax her. Another time, someone was inside with crutches following a bad fall, and he just checked in on him to ensure he was ok and to ask if he needed anything. I am still gutted over his death as he truly was everything you’d expect.
I think a lot of us are still gutted about his passing. Each time I read something like this, I almost forget that he is gone and it sucks.
Two Robin Williams stories in one post about pleasant celebrity encounters! I'm not surprised! :)
I haven't finished reading this whole post yet, and I wouldn't be surprised if there were 2 or 3 more. Robin Williams is missed.

One being radio man who has now been in many movies, was a date for an actress for the Oscar's. And is now no longer homeless and has gotten sober thanks to robin kindness.
Sally Ride, the first American Woman in space.
I was in the fourth grade and I had a science project to do. My mom found out that Sally Ride would be in the tri-state area giving a lecture on her experiences as an astronaut. There were Q & A cards that were given at the beginning of the show and my mom filled on out without me knowing. She wrote "what would be the most interesting opinion/fact you could give a 4th grader who is doing a science project?" She answered how "she believed that there is no way we (humans) are alone in the galaxy." After the show one of her back stage guys came up to me and my parents and said "I bet you are the one here for a science project (I was pretty much the only kid at the lecture) and asked if I would like to meet Sally. We got VIP passes and I met her back stage. She was really kind and soft spoken and my mom has the photo of us together.
Things like this can make all the difference for a kid. You never know what they're struggling with, and all it might take is a person they admire or a person in a position of authority to tell them they matter.
I kind of love this. It's nice to see a role model who's not an actress or celebrity. Sally Ride truly broke ground for women and girls everywhere.
No matter how high your reputation or job in life, you are never better or too good to be kind and helpful to someone who hasn't got what you do. Kindness and understanding has no limit.
Chadwick Boseman, who I met while I was working as an extra. We weren’t supposed to talk to the actors, but he struck up a conversation with me. Asked me how I was doing, told me I was doing a great job. He was a genuine, sweet person and an incredible talent.
Another one who was gone way too soon. Just reached the height of his career, a brilliant actor.
I still get choked up about his passing. He seemed like such a gentle and caring person.
Dave Grohl (and the Foo Fighters) - met him and the band the night before they played a concert in our town. I was with a friend in a random a*s empty bar and all of the sudden they walk in and sit at a table. My friend freaked out and wanted to go over to them but I felt like "Naaahh leave them be." But she couldn't resist, took a convidence shot and walked over. She chatted with them for a few minutes and soon waved me over. I got over there as well and shook hands with everybody. Dave was really really nice and asked us if we would come to the show the next day, but of course, it was sold out months ago. He said not to worry and that he would put us on his guestlist. yadayada we kept talking for a few more minutes, but soon left, because we didn't want to disrupt them too much. Even though they didn't act as if we would bother them at all.
The next day went to the venue - we didnt have too much hope though. We thought he probably forgot but we wanted to try anyway. And who would have thought, he didnt forget, we were on his guestlist and we absolutely had the best time of our life. Dave Grohl really is the nicest person of rock 'n' roll!
Yes! Dave Grohl is amazing. I highly recommend his autobiography, The Storyteller - it's really interesting and definitely worth a read.
I agree, his autobiography is a good read. Be warned though, it does get a bit tearful when he's talking about meeting Taylor and the time spent him and you realise it must have been written shortly before he died.

Saw Ryan Gosling at my brothers graduation. His mom was graduating with a masters degree from same school. Ryan sat in front of me. He clapped for every kid who got on stage to get their diploma. I was so tired from such a long ceremony that I almost didn’t even clap for my brother.
I served on a jury with Robert Downey Jr., the case lasted about a week, he was the alternate juror but took copious notes and would happily chat with all of the fellow jurors during brakes. Very down to earth and pleasant guy.
Marvel needed Susan Downey and Jon Favreau to get RDJ.

Never forget how close he came to losing it all: In 1996, when stopped by police for speeding, the actor was found in possession of cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, and even an unloaded .357 Magnum. That same year, his neighbors caught him passed out on their 11-year-old son’s bed. Even after this shocking incident, Downey refused to dedicate time to rehabilitation. Twice he tried rehab, and both times he was not able to commit. His unwillingness to remain in rehab long enough ultimately cost him: he served almost a year in prison. It was not until Downey was arrested two more times, one of which involved him straggling barefoot on the street, that the gravity of his situation hit him. The actor decided he absolutely had to make a change: rehabilitation was not something he could just do on the side, or move down his list of priorities. Despite being the future heroic and intelligent Iron Man, he knew he couldn’t do it alone.
Sorry to do this, but it's the third time today I've seen this. Brakes are what stops a car. Breaks are little interruptions for rest.
David Beckham - not just a nice guy, but when his kids came to the secret event we were filming and some people spotted them, he came across and told the public who could see him that he'd do any photos or signings they liked, but to please leave his kids alone as they were not in the public eye and he wanted them to be afforded privacy. Good dad.
I worked in Hollywood for 15 years. In my opinion. Kids, parents, grandparents, family of any kind are OFF LIMITS! When Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen we're getting divorced. There were picture of Denise's mom, who was battling cancer, pushing their eldest who was a toddler around on a neighborhood walk. Disgusting. They didn't sign up for that.
(Sorrento Italy ). One day last summer when we were out on our boat , I was watching 2 kids on seadoos playing around their boat ( 10 x bigger than ours 😉😁) . Then I saw their father, David Beckham ( !!!!!!!) watching over them. He looked our way, I gave him a 👍🏼 thumbs up regarding how good his kids were doing, he gave me a wave. 😎 Next day, I read that the coast guard boarded his boat because they saw his kids on the seadoos , apparently they were underage. No fine , just a couple of signed t-shirts and football. 🥰
On the flip side, he’s also taken a huge amount of money to be an ‘ambassador’ for the Qatar World Cup later this year. A World Cup he protested about when it was first announced.
A few years ago Tenacious D played a concert in Kuala Lumpur. The building the concert was in was pretty small, and there’s no way they made a lot of money from the show.
Despite that, after the show was over, Jack Black came back out on the stage and just chatted and joked around with people for like an hour. My buddy yelled out, “I love your shirt!” Jack Black yelled back, “I love your shirt! Trade me!” Then he took off his shirt and threw it to my buddy, who threw his shirt to Jack Black. Jack Black threw my friend’s shirt back after pretending to try it on (my friend is much thinner than Black, haha), and then told him to keep his shirt from the concert.
It was a great experience!
That's good to know, he always comes across as conceited in interviews etc. Glad to find out he's cool!
My nieces older sister spends the Summers with her dad in a remote Oregon recreational town. His family owns a marina on the lake. A few weeks ago Jack Black was there & happily took photos with them. It made the local paper and my niece was very jealous, she's 11. I wish her sister would have known Jack Blacks mom is a big deal at Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) which, if you don't know, is essentially NASA. She has been to Space Camp and wanted to be an astronaut. I think they would have really enjoyed that conversation. Now she wants to go into the other unknown, Marine Biology. I'm happier with earth under my feet.
Hugh Jackman.
He's known for being nice but I didn't expect him to be so genuine and actually keep the conversation going and to keep asking questions and showing interest. It must be exhausting considering how many people he meets every day, yet he is always on.
I live in a small village in the UK. Once, long ago, Hugh Jackman ate at our local pub. Word spread across the county, and now, whenever I say where I live, people nod sagely and say 'ah, Hugh Jackman'.
My cousin (second? My dad's first cousin) is an executive producer of some big titles in Hollywood, including Van Helsing. I don't live with my Dad, but he and my younger siblings (who do live with him) got to visit the set of Van Helsing. My Dad said that Hugh Jackman was so nice and they all went out to dinner. My younger brother was more impressed with craft services, lol.
While at tsa hugh and his family came thru my checkpoint. I'm a big fan but didn't recognize him (dark glasses, beard and mustache). He had folded up the stroller but was about to put on the smaller xray belt. I explained it wouldn't fit so I took the stroller from him and put on the larger xray machine belt. So I'm a female 5'7" and 130lbs. When realized after doing a bag checks on one of their bags. I realized I had just taken a stroller from wolverine and I know he probably smiled about this later. I was kinda embarrassed later. But he was very nice and I was doing my job
Johnny Depp is an absolute sweetheart. Worked as a stand-in for one of his films and they had me sitting in bleachers in the pouring rain while they did light measures and such. They brought out Johnny and he sat beside me to do blocking. They had an umbrella over him and he asked why they didn't have one for me. They shrugged and dismissed it, but Johnny took his umbrella and held it over us both and asked if I was warm enough. He was very kind.
Awwe such a sweetheart glad there are people like him in a world of people that are not. 💜
He actually struck me as being pretty shy, but someone who's learned to "perform" to hide it. Pretty much the opposite of the wacky characters he's known for.
That's why I really like some of his "normal" shows for lack of a better word, like What's Eating Gilbert Grape or Benny and Joon where it's still a character but you see more of his natural introversion. Still amazing in all the movies though.

Brad Pitt is a top-notch guy in real life
I met him in Malta while he was filming Troy. I was guiding a group of students as a group leader on a holiday trip and we saw Pitt just walking out of a cafe. He took time to take lots of pictures with all the kids and was really nice to everyone. Among my group were a bunch of teenage girls who almost fainted. Hilarious day all around.
he looked so freaking amazing in that movie. That, Meet Joe Black and Legends of The Fall were his hottest in my opinion. I remember the 1st time I saw him It was a cheesy movie with Ricky Schroder called Across the Tracks or something like that. I remember thinking how hot he was and then realized he was supposed to be a high school kid and I momentarily thought I was disgusting. Then I found out I am only 3 years older than him and he was way out of high school when he made the film. I have thought he is hot ever since. He's not aging as well as I had hoped for him but cigs and booze will do that, sadly.
Lily Mae Kitty 1) you're commenting on someone's looks in an article about how nice they are and 2) we are all aging, some not as well as others but I don't see a pic of you showing how you're aging considering that you are about 61 - be nice

Met Jason Momoa at a con a few years back when I only knew him from Game of Thrones. His positive energy and sense of humour is very disarming despite him being so big and imposing.
I don't think I've ever seen a bad photo of this guy... until just now. Was this really the best picture you could find??
I met Gordon Ramsay once at a book signing event, I was just walking around the area and ran into him on his free time. He was actually so nice and down to earth. Talked about food for a few minutes and how he’s liking his trip so far. Super nice guy and nothing like you see on his cooking shows
Have you seen how great he is with kids on Junior Masterchef? That's closer to his real self.

Have you seen the video going around about how Gordon Ramsey is different with kids vs adults? He’s screaming profanities at the adult cooks and then he’s the sweetest, most gentle guy with kid cooks. The video was taken down on YouTube in the USA because of copyright issues (just looked it up) but maybe you can find it elsewhere
Watch Kitchen Nightmares...the UK version and you'll see something closer to the real him I imagine. The US version is so much shouting and drama.
He has said his public persona is really only for show and nothing like that in private. I will never forget what he did for Ellicott City, Maryland, after the flooding , either.
Met Elvis Presley in Las Vegas in august of 1972.
I was in the Navy stationed at point mugu California and drove to Vegas to see him live at the midnight show. I was in uniform alone and the maitre de sat me in a single seat center stage 3 seats from the stage. During the performance Elvis called me out and thanked me for my service and asked me what my job was and I replied I was an air traffic controller at point mugu California. He said man you have a stressful occupation for a young man. I told him ive waited all my life to see him in person and he thanked me and said enjoy the show.
I was 23 at the time and was so blown away he called me out.
Near the end of the show a man came up to me and asked me if id like to meet Elvis after the show and I replied are you serious? He said absolutely. He escorted me to back stage and to a room and after a while Elvis appeared showered and hyped up after his show. He sat down next to me and talked about his army service and wanted to know where I was from and what I was going to do spin discharge, how I liked serving my country and what music I listened to, about my parents and my sisters.
He was so down to earth and so polite. We spent 20 minutes or so just talking and he said he needed to get upstairs and try to unwind so he could sleep. I asked him for an autograph and he gave me one and a couple of autographed photos and Joe Esposito escorted me downstairs and I thanked him for his kindness and he told me Elvis enjoyed the meeting more than me.
I was so excited and it took me a month to come down off my buzz. He was absolutely so down to earth and really interested in what was going on in my life. I will remember this until the day I die.
It was the most exciting thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I have so much respect for him and was devistated in 77 when I heard he passed away. Maybe we will see each other on the other side. I hope.
He was a sweetheart . Sad that Hollywood and others turned him into what he became . Even sadder still he saw suicide as his only way out
He was a very lonely guy and I bet having that conversation with you really was the highlight of his night. You mentioned Joe, so have no doubt this story is 100% authentic. RIP EP
Michael Sheen - he does a lot of charity work for our shared hometown. I had no idea just how well known he was as a kid. Years ago he spent a night bowling with our youth club, it's been a decade and I'm still blown away by how caring and genuine he was. He's always doing something wonderful for the people in South Wales, and every time I hear about what he's up to I still can't believe my luck that I met him.
He's the best of the Welsh.
He and David Tennant are a great pairing. Both are funny and very down to earth.
Kristen Bell - one of the most sweetest, down to earth people you’ll ever meet.
I worked at a high end hotel spa and she came in on one of our most busiest weekends and was so patient. Most celebrities I encountered booked with aliases and through an assistant, she just called in on her own and booked as any other person would (this seems like the bare minimum, but I’ve had some super needy celebrity guests). She is also an EXTREMELY generous tipper. She is the exact person that she appears in tv interviews.
Aww, that's good to hear. I've watched the Frozen II documentary and she seemed really cool in that as well. It's always nice hearing about celebrities who remember that they're just people too.

During lunch, my friends and I would walk 5 minutes to the downtown area for lunch. One day while we are walking to lunch Mr. T was pulling into his gated driveway. We said "Hey Mr. T" and waved at him. He asked us what we were doing and after finding out we were going to lunch he invited us to have lunch with him since that is what he was doing. We're sitting on his patio eating grilled chicken with Mr. T telling stories about growing up poor and working really hard to earn what he had. He talked a lot about family and its importance to him. It was pretty surreal. Mr. T was just the persona... he was actually a very funny, down-to-earth and truthfully empathetic guy. Every day after that whenever we would see Mr. T he would always say hi and take a few minutest to chat. And everything was always so positive. I always greatly respected him after that day.
In 1970, he legally changed his last name to T. His new name, Mr. T., was based upon his childhood impressions regarding the lack of respect from white people for his family: I think about my father being called 'boy', my uncle being called 'boy', my brother, coming back from Vietnam and being called 'boy'. (TIL that he turned 70 this past May)
Tells me a lots, they made the kids walk off the course to eat ( probably) or it was cost prohibitive (also probably) and here is Mr t grilling chicken for them. Class act. Genuinely a class act.
David Tennant He is absolutely lovely. I've met him multiple times, due to my workplace. He once asked me to look after his coat and tipped me £50 for doing so, purely because Olivia Colman was with him at the time and, in her usual ditsy way (she is another gem of a human being!) accidentally dropped her coat on top of me! On another occasion, I had a long chat with him about Doctor Who, since I'm a massive fan of the show and have been for as long as I can remember. He is a brilliant example of how meeting a celeb you love doesn't have to be a disappointment.
I mean, David Tennant and Olivia Coleman, that's a pretty good day I'd say. Lol
I’ve heard a lot of good things about David Tennant and I’m glad to see the trend continues!
I know conventions are still basically 'work', so actors of course play a bit of a role. But he is so genuinely geeky and adorable and funny in all (!) the con-videos on yt that i get the feeling he truly enjoys them. He's also interesting to listen to and loves his job and it shows. And please, everyone curious should listen to his podcas (named "David Tennant does a podcast") with interesting guests. My favorites are with Olivia Coleman, Cathrine Tate and of course Micheal Sheen. But all are pretty good.
Olivia Coleman plays Nick Nelson's mom in Heartstopper. Perfect role for her.
I worked at a bar in Hollywood and served lots of random celebrities. The best experience was Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth from GoT). She ordered a Guinness and handed me a $20. I went to get her change and she told me to keep it. She said she had worked in the service industry for years and new how hard the job can be. She paid for each of her drinks the same way all night. She was incredibly kind and generous. Rare in Hollywood.
People call celebrities "queen!!" a lot. Christie is one of the few for whom it fits, 100%.
She seems like she'll be really good company too.

He was clearly trying to be incognito so I said nothing and gave him his space. He seemed genuinely thrilled with the compliment and started enthusiastically telling me about the training he does etc. Graciously agreed to a photo once we landed and as he was leaving he turned around to tell me to wish my mother a happy mother's day (it was mother's Day weekend). 10/10 awesome guy.
My dad was a waiter at a restaurant Leonard Nimoy (the original Spock) frequented back in the 80’s. He always tipped generously and even invited my dad to eat with him once. Overall a great guy. Heartbreaking to hear he died a few years ago
Tom Hiddleston. He was doing the press junket for Kong Island at the BBC and I was walking past on the way to work. I like his stuff so went over, got my phone out and said hello. We had a nice chat. Lovely guy. Bastard is better looking in real life than on screen.
How?! How is it physically possible to look any better than that? (insert lol emoji here)
I just know if I ever get to meet Tom Hiddleston I’ll be doing my best not to pass out!
I met Tom when they were filming the first Avengers movie. He was asked to throw out the first pitch at a Cleveland Indians Game. I was a photographer working the Progressive Insurance employee day. We chatting for about 10 minutes before he threw out the pitch. He was so friendly and fun to talk with. We chatted about the movie.
I met Fred Rogers (Mr. Roger's Neighborhood) several times. He was exactly as nice and kind and wonderful as you'd think he was.
He was a huge influence on my childhood!! To this day, I think very well of him and always will!
Mr Rogers' niceness is legendary. He is legendary. We are all better off because he existed.
I got to spend a few hours hanging out with Jon Stewart. It was my life goal to be interviewed by him on the daily show. Well I am more than happy to say that he is as kind, warm, hilarious, and personable as you could ever imagine. Easily one of the highlights of my life.
OMG DYING! The amount of labor this man has undertaken to make our shitty world a little better is beyond words. Love him.
He would never do it, but I think he'd do well in Congress. He'd be outnumbered by the rest of the shitbags, but I believe he could change some minds.
Load More Replies...I think that he should be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work on behalf of 9/11 rescue workers and veterans. His championship of these causes has made all the difference. (Plus, he has outsmarted Mitch McConnell TWICE!)
I’ve always respected him so much for how much he does for others. I havent always agreed with his politics, but hes such a genuine and thoughtful man. Hes fair and backs up what he says. This last bit with the Honoring our PACT act had me in tears. Ive been dealing with severe lung issues due to those burn pits and nobody in the public eye has made me feel like they cared like he does. It was so satisfying to see him call out our “representatives” for their cowardly acts and Im just incredibly grateful for him.
Load More Replies...He's one of my comedy heroes. Nobody could help me understand political discourse like him. He and his Daily Show writers are legends.
I really appreciate the work he has done for the survivors of 9/11 and veterans!
Daniel Radcliffe was genuinely nice. He actually asked us if we wanted a picture with him. Probably because he saw how star struck we were considering the odds of running into such a world renowned movie star in our city.
He is a sweetheart with a wicked sense of humor. And talented AF! Can't wait to see the Weird Al movie.
I used to work in the music and film industry (as a grunt, when I was in my early 20s), so I've met a lot of celebrities.
George Clooney was the nicest one - SO down to earth, and would play practical jokes on the entire crew very regularly. He had these t-shirts made for every crew member to wear with the director's picture on the cover of People's "sexiest man alive", lol. (This was not an attractive director - it was kind of a joke between them I guess.) He had his car drive people home if buses weren't on schedule or whatever. He'd eat lunch with the crew rather than in his trailer.
I had the pleasure of working a show on a David Bowie tour he did in theatres. Every member of his band made a point to thank the crew members. IDK if Bowie himself did it but I wouldn't be surprised.
Chrissie Hynde (The Pretenders) was also awesome and talked to everyone, didn't act like she was even a celebrity in the least.
George Clooney has had this reputation since he first became famous on ER. Nice that he remained true to that, and didn’t get a big head.
a long time friend of mine has been friends with George Clooney since the 80s They are fairly close and her husband made a speech at his wedding. She has done at least 1 film with him(Voice acting in The Fantastic Mr. Fox,) as well and she doesn't do much acting anymore due to a chronic illness. She spends more time writing today. She has told me just how amazing of a person he is. She had a conversation with Susan Sarandon about me one night when they were both walking their dogs b/c an item I sold on ebay was used in a film of hers. It's really unimportant but made my day. lol
#BowieForever❤️ Chrissie Hynde is also pretty cool! But OP said they actually didn't get to meet Bowie: "I didn't meet Bowie. He just came in to do the soundcheck and then went into the room we had for the artists/bands. But he seemed very soft-spoken and down to earth. I think he might have fallen to earth."
My dad toured with Nickelback as a stagehand. Said they were incredibly nice. He also did stuff for Pitbull. He is more than nice to everyone.
I hear that George Clooney is so incredibly generous! In Viola Davis' autobiography she wrote about he opened his villa to her and he keeps a tiny little room in his own house.
He played sparky the gay dog in South Park and the doctor in the South Park movie
I can definitely attest that Michael Fassbender was a kind man who acted more excited to meet me than I was to meet him. Very satisfied by that experience!
"Michael Fassbender is really nice! Look at this photo!" *posts photo of Michael Fassbender with an evil smirk*
I went to an Adio Shoes skate event at a mall in Oklahoma City. The Adio team skaters were all there signing merch and posters. Of all the skaters who were there, Bam Margera was the one I was most excited to meet. In my head I kept thinking, "This guy is going to slap me or say something mean, but it will be funny, that's just who he is." I get up to his table, kinda stutter a bit, and all I could say was, "I only skate Element boards and I love you." Damnit I felt so stupid. 14 years old and I just embarrassed myself. He replied, "I only skate Element too man, and I love you too." He looks at my feet and I'm wearing the purple Bam Adio Shoes. "Your shoes are f****d though, you skate a lot?" I said, "Yeah every single day, unless it's raining." If that guy didn't just melt my heart right there.. He comes back with another pair of purple Bam Adio Shoes (too big for me at the time but that was fine) and signed the box. Then he brought me some rubber "Softrucks" so I could attach them to my board and skate indoors when it was raining. Then he grabbed a fresh Bam purple and white Element board, signed it, and handed it over. He told me, "Listen here f****r, you skate everyday. Don't let anything hold you back. I hope one day I see you on TV too. Maybe we could skate together some time." That was over 15 years ago. I still hope to one day be able to skate with him, even if for only a few minutes. Bam, I'm still waiting on you. I'm still skating :)
Thats awesome to hear. Its devastating to see how hard on him its been since losing Dunn, and I really hope he gets his head right and is gettung the help he needs. On the subject of skaters, I dunno if he was having an off day or what, but I met Jamie Thomas at a demo around ‘05 and he was a complete d-bag. Was really crappy to see him that way because Id basically idolized him as a kid. Met Tony Hawk at his boom boom huck jam around the same time and he was such a genuine and nice dude, so that was cool. More recently, I started to pick up the board a bit and got to meet Aaron “Jaws” Homoki and the guy is an absolute class act. Such a nice guy and easily one of the most talented skaters around, with the cajones to match. Hes really one of my all time faves now.
Nick Offerman is a gem of a human being. He came to my small college in an Illinois Suburb for a book tour thing and I was in an acapella group at the time and we were rehearsing in the building where he was doing the signing and he accidentally walked in on us and ended up staying to listen to a song, complimented us, hung out for 5 minutes and signed stuff for all of us. Super genuine, funny guy.
I love food and stuff. It's where I get most of my food... and stuff. -Ron Swanson
I was pulling weeds at the Sheraton Harbor Island hotel and Jimmy Stewart walks buy. They were filming one of the airport movies underwater scenes at North Island naval base nearby. I knew he was a Colonel in the army reserve, so I said "Howdy, colonel!" He said"Well howdy son!" We started talking, he lost track of the time, and they had to send someone to get him . He was the same in person as in the movies. To this day, one of my favorite movies is Harvey, with the 6 foot rabbit/pookah. RIP Mister Stewart. And thank you.
Sometime in 1975 when I was stationed in England got to see him in London playing in Harvey. My late wife was very excited as she was a big fan, but slept through about 1/2 of it, and later found out that she was pregnant with our daughter. I always teased her about that. He was fantastic in that play!
Funny story on his IMDB page: James Stewart was always very nice and generous to his fans, but one time, he saw some people picnicking right on his front lawn. Understandably irked, he just casually walked over, turned on the sprinklers and went inside without saying a word. I love this dude!
Harvey was the first Jimmy Stewart movie I ever saw. Still one of my favorites!
I met Taylor Swift once. She invited random fans into her house. As I was getting my turn to meet Taylor, and enter her house, someone came up and said, “psssst Taylor, there’s no soap in the bathroom.” And I swear to God this woman looked MORTIFIED. She was so embarrassed to be throwing a party and not have out out any fresh soap for her guests. She apologized profusely. And made steps to go fetch some from upstairs, then someone stopped her and did it for her. It was a small moment, but it made me realize how humble she actually is. I kind of thought it was all a big act honestly. There was this other moment when she opened her fridge and was like “Do you want anything?” And I was like “HUH!?! This huge celebrity just asked me if I want like a snack from her fridge? What’s happening!?” Again. Small moment. But it was insane how normal she acted for her celebrity. Crazy..
I felt so sorry for her after the Kim/Kanye phonecall thing. She pretty much disappeared for 18 months and seemed to be so upset by it. I know she came back into public life a lot stronger but I always wondered if it was an act to try and show the bullies that they didn't bother her.
Awww, I adore Taylor Swift! One of my biggest dreams is that one day I get to meet her in person
Kimye, is that you?? Still bitter that Taylor rocks and you can't even get your meds straight??

I met her at ACE Midwest in 2019 - the first convention she'd ever done. I stroll up to the booth to get a photo taken with her, carrying a Cosmic Cube prop. I asked her to to hold it, she did, and we took the photo. As I was leaving, she looked at the camera guy and said "Wait, I have an idea. Can we take that again?".
Worth noting that photos with her were something like $200 a pop, and you almost never get a retake unless it's REALLY bad, so for her to ask for a second photo was pretty incredible.
Anyway, we take the second photo, this time with her tossing the Cube into the air. It came out AWESOME, and is still one of my favorite photo op pictures. I showed it to her later while getting her autograph, and she gushed over it for a bit.
I get that it's at a con, but she was genuinely nice, really does love her fans, and came across much warmer than I expected.
It’s not often the celeb who sets the prices, rather their agent or event the convention managers
Load More Replies...How about a story where celebrities refuse to participate in price gouging their fans?!?!? $200 for a photo? Maybe if they're doing your hair and makeup and touch-ups on the photo.
Stevie Wonder. He came in with his bodyguard to the restaurant I was an assistant manager at. I walked up and told him how much my mom loves him(my mom is one of the biggest Stevie wonder fans ever). I had an employee who also was a huge fan and looked up to him and his music as she is a musician. I told him I was going to grab her so she can get a picture with him if he was okay with that and he looks at me with a big frown and said “oh she came up and said hi but that the manager said she couldn’t take a picture with me”. I told him f**k that, I’m one of the managers so if anyone gets in trouble, I’ll take the blame. His face lit up and I got to take a selfie with Stevie wonder and so did that employee.
I'd love to meet Stevie Wonder. What an incredible talent. He seems so genuine and kind. I knew it lol
Weird Al. We got to do a meet and greet with him after a long show (and this guy works his a*s off in his shows - multiple costume changes and never stops moving). He was exhausted but took the time to chat with me about places to buy the kind of zoot suit he wore on stage. I told him about a place in Seattle and he told me about a place in St. Louis. Super nice even though he was so obviously worn out.
You mean International Treasure Weird Al Yankovic? God, I love him so much!
From what I’ve heard about him, I feel like “international treasure” is putting it lightly. I agree with you that he is an amazing human being!!
Load More Replies...I met him at a signing when Even Worse came out (I was 10 lol) and I said "your shirt is ugly" and he said " well your face is ugly" so that's my brush with fame. Weird Al said I was ugly.
I remember when he was considered a one hit wonder with “Another One Rides The Bus”. Now it’s considered the highest honor a singer can have for Weird Al to parody their song.
It is rumored that Weird Al made more money from "White and Nerdy" than the original artist Chamillionaire did from "Ridin' Dirty"

Met Mark Hamill at a comic book store in maryland back in 96. What a kind and friendly guy.
The world is better because of Hamill Himself. I will never stop mourning the loss of Carrie Fisher, esp when we needed her most, but Mark has kept Space Mom's legacy bright and shining, and continues to metaphorically flip off the world in her name for the rest of us. THEN you find out how amazing and generous he is with fans, and the love just grows by leaps and bounds.
Carrie Fisher was Chaotic Good, and like Robin Williams, the world is lesser for her loss. I'll miss you, your Highness.
Load More Replies...I mean, I expected Matthew McConaughey to be nice, but he was just so thoughtful and engaging, truly a great experience meeting him.
Carlos Santana. I once read that you should never offer to shake the hand of famous musicians because they make their living with them and some people can be too aggressive with the hand crush. I approached him to quickly say I love his music and he took my hand into both of his and looked me directly in the eye to thank me and even asked a couple of questions about me.
Also i recall a comedian being impressed when he met Arnold Schwarzenegger. The man has a bodyguard who has to stop him from talking to a single fan for too long, otherwise he would have never stopped on time for the rest of the fans to get their turn to speak to him. Imagine being so nice to your fans that you need someone to stop you... Edit: Gabriel Iglesias a.k.a. Fluffy is the name of the comedian
Donald Driver - former GB Packer had a 'handler', too. Driver would talk to and take photos with EVERY ONE! It got to the point where he had a guy who would tell the crowds that 'Mr. Driver appreciates meeting you and really enjoyed himself but he has an appointment to get to and he hopes you understand!'
I love Fluffy!!! Seems like such a sweet, funny and down to earth man!
I've posted this before, but I used to work at a super posh rooftop club at a hotel in LA so I served a lot of celebrities. One day, a really pretty brunette in dark sunglasses came in during the day, with a friend and an older woman whom I presume was her mother. She looked familiar to me, but I didn't recognize her until I spoke to her and heard her voice. I'd just finished watching Community. Alison Brie. I looked at her reservation. Schermerhorn. That's her real last name. It was her. Believe me when I tell you that woman is made of pure magic. It's like she has a 15-foot aura around her that makes people in her vicinity feel special. I was just her waiter, and I'm not even an extroverted dude, but by the end of the day, we were talking in stupid accents, laughing like idiots, and she was treating me like an old friend. She even put a good word in for me with my manager before she left, which really meant a lot because I'd been struggling with the pace of that job. I try to see everything she's in now. Definitely one of my favorite LA experiences.
I worked with Jim Carrey for years and feel the exact same way about him. His energy hits you 15 ft before he's physically in front of you. He's a big hugger and when he sees you just comes at you with open arms. His assistant Linda has been with him since In Living Color. She's just amazing as well. His theatre room has a memento from every film. It's been a decade since I left LA and clearly things change but he will always be one of my favorites.
I'm so happy to know he is like this, I've always been a huge fan.
Load More Replies...Not my story, but my uncle is a film editor who went out and had a drink with Kenneth Brannagh, who played Gilderoy Lockhart in Harry Potter. He was apparently lovely. If I remember correctly, my uncle said the same thing about Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid.
Someone saw the movie Henry V and went looking for Henry I, Henry II, Henry III, and Henry IV.
Load More Replies...You mean Shakespearian theater legend and two time Academy Award winning director Kenneth Branagh? Get outta here.
Big Rab (Robbie Coltrane) is a lovely bloke. My friend worked with him and said he was really kind and courteous to every member of the crew.
Mr. Brannagh is essentially the current Laurence Olivier. In this case, currently being lionized for playing a role in the Last Days of Pompeii.
I worked with Mads Mikkelsen. He is the nicest person you will ever meet. Zero ego. Just a pleasure to work with.
Ooh, I loved him in the new Grindelwald movie. Johnny Depp was good in the role too, but Mads definitely put a new spin on the character.
Agree! He showed the another side of cold and sadistic vibes, very suitable for Grindelwald.

FAR kinder than you've been told: Peter Mayhew. Had the luck to meet him after a film premiere, this was shortly before he passed, so he was sitting in a mobility scooter rather than towering over everyone as he would have. I approached slowly so he could shoo me off, he smiled so I went for it. We talked for 10 or 15 minutes, I don't recall a lot of it because my brain was screaming "THIS IS CHEWBACCA", but he was unfailingly sweet and patient and kind. As we parted he asked my name again, I told him and he held out those huge Chewbacca mitts*. I put my hands in his, he squeezed them gently and said "It was a pleasure meeting you, [name]." *The new guy has to wear finger-extenders as part of the costume. Joonas' fingers are at least 1.5" shorter than Peter's were.
I met Liam Hemsworth at a supermarket in a small coastal town in Australia earlier this year. I almost didn’t even notice it was him as he fit in seamlessly being the down to earth, laid back Aussie guy he is. He was super nice and genuine and even made an effort to thank the employees and the store’s security on his way out.
Yeah he owns a house yhere. Byron Bay is only like a four hour drive from where I live. When the school there went into lockdown for some reason, rumour has it that he and Miley both showed up for lunch duty
I saw Brian Cranston at the space needle didn't ogle but made eye contact. He knew I recognized him, but I didn't say anything. Oddly later that same day saw him in a nearby bar he paid for a round for my friend and I as he left. Pretty sure he appreciated not bothering him. Super nice.
Was at The Blue Lagoon in Iceland and someone floated by me that I recognized but couldn't put a name to. I kept stealing glances at him to try and figure out who he was. When I finally figured out it was Ryan Gosling, he must have seen the realization on my face, because he smiled at me, winked, and put his finger over his lips in a "shhhh" gesture. I think no one else had recognized him. He had a full beard. Left him alone, as you do, but I'll always remember that wink.
Eartha Kitt - despite being mid-80's, she was doing 2 shows a day and would still use the show interval for a fan meet and greet, then her rider was "a salmon salad sandwich". A true star with true humility.
Oh, right. The poison. The poison for Kuzco, the poison chosen especially to kill Kuzco, Kuzco's poison.

So terry was popular and would have these cool people to his room— and once my boss had to go and “shut it down” after a complaint from the dorm supervisor. So my boss goes and knocks at the door, which Terry opened, and said he was totally dwarfed and staring up at this hulking, muscular guy. He squeaked out “can you please turn down the music?” And terry stared at him, then let out this big laugh and said, “oh no, I didn’t realize how late it was! Sorry, dude! I’ll turn it down.” Then invited him to stop by later for snacks and to hang out w the other jocks if he got hungry after rounds. Boss said he was the nicest resident he ever had and never played loud music after curfew again.
Where I live it is popular to dislike Leonardo DiCaprio. I met him a few years ago and he went out of his way to thank me for something minor that I did. It really impressed me. He is A-OK in my books.
Steven Tyler (Aerosmith) was really nice. A few years ago I was in New Hampshire late in the year, so the resort town we were in was pretty empty. He walked into to a coffee shop where he, my SO, and I were the only customers and he sat with us for about twenty minutes just having coffee and talking.
In reading this, it makes one think of how lonely it mist be to be a celebrity. Him sitting alone drinking coffee, sees some friendly faces and sits with them for conversation. It's nice that people don't lose their humanity when they become famous!
he used to babysit a girl I knew in HS once in a while when she was little. they were neighbors.
I met Simon Pegg when I was working as a cashier at Borders and I love to share this story because he was such a nice and funny guy. It was like a Tuesday in the afternoon and the place was empty. He came up to my with some stationery and I started ringing him up. The entire time I was thinking he looked so much like him, but I didn't think it was him since I wasn't in the UK and as far as I knew he wasn't filming a movie in Chicago, so it was a pretty quiet transaction. After it was done and I was handing him his bag with his stuff I jokingly said, "Has anyone told you that you look like the guy from Shaun of the Dead?" He replied, "I *am* the guy from Shaun of the Dead."
Was Nick Frost there? Just kidding....but seriously was he there? That'd be awesome lol
Robert England aka Freddy Krueger. Robert is extremely nice and friendly. I'd been told that. But it was just amazing to see.
Secondhand story: A friend worked at the Reagan Library and Adam Sandler visited with his kids. She said he was really friendly and super accommodating with fans. He only asked they not bother or photograph his kids, which is totally fair.
That's fair and understandable. I hope they respected his wishes.
Jamie Lee Curtis - we chatted about cameras for ages before I realised who she was (after we finished chatting). She had a very nice Leica.
I met Penn and Teller in NYC when they did some NYC shows one year. They had a meet n greet and I got to meet both of them. I was kinda star struck because I was a big fan, but they were super cool about it. And it was really weird for Teller to talk to me. Also, Teller isn't short, Penn is just f*****g huge.
Did this, too, and they both are incredible and generous with their time. Penn just genuinely seems to love meeting and talking with people. I thanked him for his thoughts re: atheism, in fact, since they really helped me when I was deconverting. I don't know how to put it, but it's like Penn is always thrilled and blown away when he finds out something he or he & T did made a real difference in someone else's life. And his kid's name is AWESOME!
Yep, Penn *IS* fcking huge. I loved their cameos in Babylon 5 and Borderlands 3
Alexander Skarsgard is very nice and patient. I met him while he was in town filming a scene for Hold the Dark, he told me about the project and what scenes they were filming here.
Paul McCartney, he joked to a little boy to stop picking his nose and the kid started crying.
I don't know if I expected him to be rude, but George Carlin was very kind to me. I recognized him in line at a Broadway show we were both attending and asked him to autograph my booklet. He looked around at the crowd, quietly sighed and then smiled, said yes and signed it. He knew someone would see this and he would be mobbed with requests. He was mobbed.
One of the greatest minds in American history. Up there with Mark Twain.
Matt Damon. He was ice skating at our small town lake. Seemed to be staying undercover fairly well as he didn't have a big crowd or anything. A friend and I helped his nephew when he fell and Matt came over and said thanks. Later saw him at the local Pizza place. You would think someone like him would be a real jerk and all about himself. Never wanting to come to a small town or anything. But he seems to be like a real nice normal guy.
I met Topher Grace years ago at a rooftop bar in downtown San Diego. He was with a group of extremely beautiful girls (this was before he was married) and my girlfriends and I were just keeping our distance and talking about how we loved That 70's Show. We didn't want to intrude or bother him. Out of nowhere he walked over and introduced himself to us, very polite not in a creepy way. Then he just talked us for a long time about everything and nothing. It was very cool. After he walked away we were gushing about what a nice guy he was when the guy standing behind us chimed in and said "Yeah, Topher is a chill dude." The other guy was Tony Hawk. That was a fun night.
Imagine meeting Topher Grace and then Tony Hawk telling you he's a chill dude....I mean, best night ever right. Lol
Thats nuts, I met Tony once and he was so incredibly nice, Topher must be a saint lol
Load More Replies...First met Adam Sandler when I was super young at a Chinese restaurant in LA. He came in after my family was already eating, and my brother and me being huge Adam Sandler fans, got up to go say hi to him. Super nice guy, didn’t mind at all that a 10 and 17 year old were bothering him during his dinner with his family. Somehow his family finished their meals before me and my family did and as he was getting ready to leave, he came back to our table, thanked us for the kind words, offered pictures and then left. Amazing experience.
I always figured Stephen Amell from Arrow would be a chill dude, but I did not expect him to remember me from a Facebook interaction we had months prior to meeting. He's such a nice guy.
I met Kirsten Dunst a few years ago. It was NYE at my favorite, tiny restaurant on Austin’s east side. She was there with her husband and standing next to me near the bar. I offered to buy them drinks since the bar was packed and I was closer to the counter. She very politely declined and told me she was pregnant but no one knew yet at the time. I thought she was really sweet and we left her alone the rest of the night. Very, very petite!
Nicole Kidman. To be fair, this was back in the 80s before she hit the big time. She was, however, making movies then and had a profile. I did ask her what it was like being in films and she replied: ‘Oh good, but, you know, Tom (Burlinson, her then boyfriend) gets all the good roles’. She struck me as a very genuine, decent person.
My brother and I met Ice T and Coco at Disney's California Adventure; they were doing a big trip with a lot of family members, but were really nice and did photos with anyone who asked. My brother called out, "We love you on SVU dude!" and he waved and called out, "thanks man, I love YOU!"
RIP but I met Anthony Bourdain He was awesome nice kept everything simple and moving along. I asked for a pic and he was like let's a group photo and me along with 10 strangers got a pic with him.
He came to my town for a performance/book signing and the theater was packed with students from the CIA. This one poor kid got up and was so star struck he couldn't ask the question. Tony said, hey it's ok, if you remember just raise your hand again. Completely calmed the kid down. God I miss him
Chad Kroeger. I incredibly down to earth and kind, no matter what you think of his music. Met him backstage in 2002 when they were absolutely massive. At one point I approached him and asked him a couple questions about the main riff on one of their older tracks, and he was like "you play one of our songs? I need to see this!" And got a guitar tech to tune an acoustic to drop D and had me play the whole thing. Not only did he seem super happy, but he even spent like ten minutes teaching me some of the nuances to the riffs and the solo. Put me in a headlock for a photo etc. I grew out of their music long ago but I would 100% shake that guy's hand if I ever see him again.
My buddy works in AV industry and has worked on a bunch of videos with Eminem. Says he is a very nice, quiet guy. He doesn't chat with people much, but mainly because he gets uncomfortable when people constantly say how great he is and how he inspired them, etc. Also says Mark Ruffalo is the greatest guy, hangs out with everyone on set. I've been an autograph collector forever and have interacted with tons of baseball, basketball and football players. Shaq is my favorite, but too many great interactions to name. Most are super nice, but keep in mind these people are so busy. They may want to sign but have to go to their next interview, workout, etc. Dont judge them based on one quick interaction where they said no to an autograph or picture.
That's a great point! Thanks for the reminder. (Seriously!)
Triple H. I met him and got his autograph on my 12th Birthday it was in the peek of his heel run so I thought he was going to be a super d**k but I wanted the autograph. We waited in like for an hour and a half. I got to the front and he asked me how I was doing and if I was having a good day. I said “Yes! Today is my Birthday, getting to meet you and get your autograph and go to the show tonight is the best Birthday present I could get!” He asked how old I was and how to spell my name. In the book it say “Happy Birthday ThatRedHead11 The Game Triple H!”
Seth Rogan. I saw him at a movie premier and said “oh my god, it’s Seth Rogan.” He looked at me and said “oh my god.” In the same excited tone.
John Mulaney. I mean, I kinda expected it but I didn't think he'd be so nice. He did a stand up/Q&A at my college and I was covering it for the school newspaper, he was engaged in the interview and seemed actually glad to be there. So sweet, answered all my questions, asked about the paper a bit and asked if I could email the link to the article so he could read it. Plus, he made everyone laugh!
I met Eddie Vedder a number of years ago when I worked at the cheesecake factory in Hawaii, he was awesome and short and gave me an amazing smile and eye contact that still makes me feel all gushy when I think about it. Eddie Vedder is a treasure.
Skater Christina Lenko was an absolute diamond, playing with someone's kids on set between rehearsals, I fell a little bit in love watching her.
Jason Sudeikis walked into the store I worked at! super chill guy and spoke to all since he's a usual.
sorry...since he's a 'usual'? I don't get the reference - is he perhaps a 'regular' at the store?
I haven't met many celebrities, but I met Brian May at Astrofest in London (I'm British). He was so nice and signed the copy of the astronomy book he'd written. He asked my name and addressed and put it the book along with his signature. He signed my tickets too without me asking and posed for photos. There must have been over 100-200 people and he didn't seem tired or bored. He was so friendly and had time for everyone.
Reese Witherspoon. A friend and I were in line at a cafe to order, and she had her then-baby with her. The woman behind starts chatting with the kid, and she has her kid, too, and when we turn around, we realize that yes, it's Elle Woods who is making baby-talk! We all chatted mostly about kid stuff (Ava was about 3?), and she was just the absolute sweetest. Asked and remembered names, everything.
I’ve never vet meet one but my mother is actually friends with Kaitlin Olson and they have been since they where kids before she was famous. I’ve heard nothing but good things about her
He's not hugely well known, but Lee Tergesen. He's a character actor. He player Beecher in OZ (with Christopher Maloney) and he's been in tons of shows. There's a small group of fans of his who still really love the show and talk about it online. They all get together every few years to go see something he's involved in whether it's a play or a movie he's in or something. He always contacts the girls who run his little fan group and invites them all out to see the play he's in and the one year I went he took us all out for drinks and paid the tab. He was doing 2 shows that day and only had a 2 hour break in between and he spent it taking us to a restaurant and talking with every person. Then later that night he took us all out for dinner and took pictures and had a great time. We got the chance to see a charity play he and a bunch of huge actors did and there was a big dinner for the actors and he invited us. He took the time to talk and sit with everyone. A really wonderful guy.
I’ve met Bruce Campbell twice during his book tours. The first time was in November 2001 and the second time on June 22, 2005, which happened to be his 47th birthday. The staff brought him a cake and Bruce offered me the first piece. Super awesome guy!
Sophia Bush, she was working on One Tree Hill, I had just started college after the army and worked as an extra on set, definitely knew she was smoking hot but still sweet as hell even to a grunt military type like me and introduced me to Nick Lechey who was doing a cameo very nice person
I feel kind of embarrassed lol cuz I skipped past a lot of the people I didn’t know!
My brother painted a picture while at a group for siblings of children with disabilities. It was brown and yellow and Robert DiPierdomenico (who used to play in the Hawks AFL team, whose jerseys are brown and yellow) saw it at a fundraiser for the charity that ran the group and bought it for $150. We figured he just wanted to do it for publicity and to support the charity but we later found out he actually hung it in his dining room.
One week before my 45 birthday I was working for tsa and I was at the walk thru position. I looked up at the ticket checker and I see Jerry Lewis in wheelchair being checked. I always dreamed of meeting him. He alarmed the walk thru due to stimulator on his back so I had to pull him to the corral. I couldn't turn my back to the walk thru but was able to step back and be shoulder to shoulder (I had already told him how much i loved his work). I said Mr Lewis i believe we share the same birthday. He asked March 16 i said yes sir. He shook my hand and wished me a happy birthday and I wished him one back. I'll never forget that he took the time to wish me happy birthday.
