Movies stay with us. Whether you like comedies, dramas, historical epics, or musicals, films tend to leave behind moments that live rent-free in our heads long after the credits roll — for both good and bad reasons. One sign that something has truly stuck in our memory is the extent to which it spreads on the internet.
The Instagram account @funniestmoviememes23 captures all of those iconic scenes, characters, and lines from people’s favorite productions, and if you aren’t familiar with everything referenced here, maybe it’s about time you expand your watchlist.

You mean Mikey didn't best the fratteli family and find one eyed w*****s ship to be remembered as a gardener visiting a mountain
A poll of 2,000 Americans conducted by Talker Research found that, on average, they believe they’ve watched their favorite movie 38 times, with Millennials leading the pack at an estimated 50 times, followed closely by Gen Z at 49 times.
Forrest Gump has been named the all-time favorite movie most often (17%), ahead of The Wizard of Oz (15%) and Titanic (15%).
The 1994 animated, coming-of-age story The Lion King (15%) ranked fourth, and the classic romantic drama Dirty Dancing (15%) rounded out the top five.
Harrelson seems like a genuinely decent guy, almost like he's trying to make up for that other Woody in Hollywood - and no I don't mean the one from toy story..
However, different generations are into different movies. For example, Shrek is a staple for Gen Z, along with Toy Story (25%) and the newer, now-classic Avengers: Endgame (24%).
Despite premiering before they were even born, the Jurassic Park series was also found to be popular with youngsters (16%).
They also like the Harry Potter series (15%), though it’s slightly more appreciated among Millennials (16%).
According to the survey, a little more than one-third of Gen Z (34%) believe the soundtrack can make or break a movie.
Almost three in five (56%) even admit that their all-time favorite movie could be categorized as a guilty pleasure.
Millennials also believe they can recite almost half of their favorite movies by heart (48%), compared to Baby Boomers, who average about 23%.
This may be because a little more than a third of Millennials rewatch their favorite movie either daily (12%), a few times per week (12%), or once per week (11%), while a fifth (19%) of Baby Boomers only indulge every few months.
Taking things a step further, the average American believes they could watch their favorite movie three times in a row without getting sick of it, with Gen Z averaging five times.
SPOILER ALERT. When it comes to specific movie moments, a poll of 2,000 UK adults found that the most emotional scenes of all time are considered to be:
- Titanic (1997) – “I’ll never let go, Jack”: Rose clings to Jack in their freezing final moments in the Atlantic (67%).
- The Lion King (1994) – Mufasa’s Passing: Simba pleads with his father to wake up after the stampede — pure heartbreak for generations (59%).
- The Green Mile (1999) – John Coffey’s Execution: “I’m tired, boss…” — a gentle giant’s final moments leave everyone reeling (39%).
- Forrest Gump (1994) – Forrest at Jenny’s Grave: Forrest shares his love and pride with Jenny, pouring his heart out in a quiet, devastating moment (36%).
- Schindler’s List (1993) – “I could have done more”: Schindler breaks down with guilt, mourning the lives he couldn’t save despite saving hundreds (35%).
It's because the highschool has initially agreed to let them film the movie there, but then backed out at the last second causing chaos
Don't worry, they can just cast Joan Crawford in the sequel. Surely she's old enough.
Interestingly, the survey also found that almost half (47%) of Brits watch more than five hours of movies on their phone every week, with over a quarter (26%) admitting to streaming at work. I guess scrolling memes doesn’t even count after that!
We were going to do a fundraiser for school and our English teacher had gotten permission for us to do it at her church, so she is describing where in town the church is.. and one of my classmates loudly says, Oh! You mean the Dolly Pardon church?! Because it had 2 large shaped domes 😂. Teacher was slightly mortified - please don't call it that she said 😂. I will never be able to drive by it without thinking of this.
I like the fact they are introducing to the new series a character that was born biologically a wizard but identifies as a witch.
I asked Google for the chemical formula of sodium hypobromite and it said "NaBro"
I am firmly in the 80s horror corner, unless I want to go nostalgic, then it's late 90s/early 00. with the 70s it's hit and miss if they are good, bad, or the good kind of bad
Hmm - you could try searching for "Yasuke". Wikipedia says "According to historical accounts, Yasuke first arrived in Japan in the service of Italian Jesuit Alessandro Valignano. Nobunaga summoned him out of a desire to see a black man. Subsequently, Nobunaga took him into his service and gave him the name Yasuke. As a samurai, he was granted a sword, a house, and a stipend"
I don't know about a spooky island theme park, but Jeffrey Epstein created a horror island.
Except - in A Clockwork Orange, it was moloko plus. From the book:.it “would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence.” From on-line: "There are three types of Moloko plus served within the Milk Bar; vellocet (mixed with most likely amphetamines), synthemesc (mixed with synthetic mescaline) and drencrom (mixed with adrenochrome and possibly unnamed hallucinogens). It can be served to minors because of its lack of alcohol."
Should I be the one saying it? That is representation taken a little too far.
Boston's in Lincolnshire - no hills like that anywhere near the place. Don't talk to me about its recently-founded namesake over the pond. 😉
Me wondering why Stranger Things lasted 5 seasons instead of 2 and I was lied to about how good it is.
Off topic, but why does Jared Leto still get roles? He's a known s*x pest, especially to younger people of every gender. The films he's in b*mb, he can't act very well except for one role he was in 20yrs ago, his band is sh*t and he's a cult leader psychopath, and very likely a paedo. Stop giving him money, Hollywood.
