50 “Meanwhile, In Canada” Photos That Highlight Why This Country Is Like No Other (New Pics)
Every country is like no other. After all, until humans figure out how to travel between dimensions or set up space colonies, we only have one of each.
But there are some that stand out from the rest. Canada, with its thirst for maple syrup, hockey obsession, and extremely cold weather, among other things, belongs on this list.
So we decided to put together a collection of pictures that capture the essence of its unique charm, showcasing its breathtaking landscapes, iconic landmarks, and diverse communities.

On the outside, Canada is a vast and rugged land. From north to south, it spans more than half the Northern Hemisphere.
From east to west, it stretches almost 4,700 miles (7,560 kilometers) across six time zones.
But even though it's the second largest country in the world, only one-half of one percent of the world's population lives there.

Canadian Lawmakers Wore Pink Heels To Bring Awareness To Violence Against Women
and also hope they did/do things to support victims as well. and not just this as a public stunt 👍
Load More Replies...They supported their local hospital as well, apparently.
Load More Replies...Standing, propped against the table. I wanna see the video of them walking.
They walked. But after the footrace, they had had enough
Load More Replies...We have similar organizations in the US. Heels for Healing raises money for victims of DV.
It's great they're supportive, but why isn't it possible to have a campaign relating to women that isn't pink and playing to gender stereotypes?
a sign needs to be recognizable. if they used "boobs" there would also be a outcry, so what do you suggest?
Load More Replies...I love this. I think more guys should rock heels too, tbh
Seeing men standing against gender-based violence is very commendable. While I appreciate the gesture, I think I would've appreciated a ribbon or scarf more considering high heels themselves are violence against women.
Because I didn't know that violence-against-women existed until I saw men wearing pink heals? What really should be happening is you get to wear the pink heals if you've donated money to the charity associated wth cause.
To clarify it was part of the Hope In Heels event put on by a local women's shelter & advocacy group.
Load More Replies...And did they wear them all day, walking, standing, running up and down stairs, indoors, outdoors....
Knowing how much heels can hurt, I consider this violence against these men. 😉
Wait...there are people not aware of violence against women? Are they the same ones who need pink ribbons because they're not aware of breast cancer? Where are these incredibly ignorant people? Yes, sarcasm, but how do these displays actually help anyone?
And meanwhile, the US has a bunch of idiots who want to buy shirts that say " Eat, Sleep, Rape, Repeat"
that's the sign for baby killing pedophiles, not what you might think. podesta was in such a picture with a group.
I never understood the 'violence against women' campaign. Obviously, the prevention of violence is an immensely positive cause. However, why 'violence against women'? Why not just 'violence'? I'm an advocate for the prevention of animal cruelty, not the prevention of mammal cruelty.
You "never understood", probably because you refuse to. Women experience the majority of DV, sexual harassment and rape. It's called femicide. You being unaware of the rape culture that comes with living in a patriarchal society shows your privilege, Brendan.

The first people to come to Canada are thought to have arrived between 15,000 and 30,000 years ago across a land bridge that connected Asia and North America.
Interestingly, around A.D. 1000, the Viking explorer Leif Eriksson reached Newfoundland and tried to establish a settlement there, but it didn't last.

The French and British settlers arrived in the 16th century. Continual land disputes between farmers and fur traders led to four wars between 1689 and 1763.
The final one, called the French and Indian War, left the British in control of Canada; however, French influence remains strong even today.
In 1867, Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick combined to form a dominion with its own separate government, parliament, and prime minister.
Manitoba joined soon after and in 1931, Canada became an independent nation.

As the pictures illustrate, Canada is, in some ways, many nations in one. Descendents of British and French immigrants make up roughly half of the population, then there are other European and Asian immigrants, and First Nations peoples make up just about four percent.
Inuit people live mostly in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Many Native Canadians live on their traditional lands, but a considerable portion have moved to cities across the country.

It's Iceberg Season. I Captured This Huge Iceberg Just Outside The Harbour Of St. John's, Newfoundland
Back in the '70s, we ran a bar/restaurant in St. John's right on the harbour. Opened up the first patio the city had ever seen and that's where you'd find me on a lovely spring day, just sipping a Diet Coke and watching the icebergs float by what's known as Iceberg Alley. Depending on the size, it could take hours to pass by. Magical stuff.

I immigrated here. So did my spouse and most of our neighbours. There’s nowhere we’d rather live. The world needs more Canada.
Most of my family immigrated there years ago from South Africa. I was lucky enough to live there for a year and it was the best year of my young life!! The pick up hockey games on your local pond, real maple syrup, Geese always on offensive, the polite Mounties, ohhh I miss Canada!!

Look at the Good Samaritan law & how many people rush to help those in need. Volunteers who flooded the red cross after disasters. People opening their homes to those who need it. Try looking for the good instead of insisting that everything is bad.
Wow, thanks. I'm not putting you up to zero. Not sure where you get to insult us like that.
