It’s difficult not to be impressed with people who can create masterpieces using their bare hands. It’s an admirable trait shared by sculptors, artists, composers, and, as you’re about to see, woodworkers.
These attention-grabbing images are from the Woodworking subreddit. The 5.6 million community members deeply appreciate the artistry one can create using a piece from a tree.
In this list, we feature handmade bookcases, desks, bathroom doors, and random whimsical carvings that deserve the internet’s attention. Scroll through and see why!

I’m 14 Years Old And Made This Shaker Style End Table For My Parents. How’d I Do?
You did amazing well! I happen to like shaker styles and you nailed it! Congratulations.
If I could afford to, I'd have a whole houseful of furniture built by you. Fine crafting!

Tried Making An Ice Cream Bar Out Of Walnut But It Melted
Masterful use of the beautiful variations in the color of the wood. Excellent job
The OP said he made the stick out of maple. He sure used a lot of tools to make the bar!
Load More Replies...The most essential aspect of this craft is, of course, the wood. But with the hundreds of thousands of varieties worldwide, it would be challenging to narrow down if you’re an absolute beginner.
Fortunately, we have the Seattle-based Ebanista School of Fine Woodworking to guide us. If you want to learn the craft, you can start with fir, maple, cherry, oak, sycamore, or ash.
These wood variants provide structural integrity and density and offer a full-color aesthetic palette.

My Dad Built A 35 Ft Rustic Bridge
I don't understand the question. You're genuinely surprised that it a single man could build something by himself? 🤦🏾♀️🤔

This is AMAZING! But what gets me is the green sticker on the floor on the first slat saying NEW, I think that's funny😂
Only thing missing is the lounge chair to enjoy the peacefulness of the surrounding forest, beautiful work!!
Ever Since I Picked Up This Hobby 5 Years Ago I've Always Dreamed Of Building A Dining Room Table That I Could Be Proud Of. Checked Off That Goal Today!
Now on to the chairs and we all know they will be just as beautiful!!
lovely wood work, but is the base stable, looks like if you leaned on the edge it might tip over
Woodworking can be approached as a profession or, as seen in some photos, as a hobby. As strenuous as it may seem, it provides stress relief.
In an article for Family Handyman, author and homesteader Chris Deziel described how woodworking can be relaxing and a creative outlet. Seeing your work come alive may be enough to uplift the spirits.
“[It] lets you manifest your imagination in the real world, boosting your confidence and self-worth,” he wrote.

New Door Just Built
I love the idea, but I think I’d pick a different slab if I was having someone build one for me.
Load More Replies...I know, right? We should ban all wooden furniture/houses and save the trees.
Load More Replies...Woodworking is as much a mental activity as it is physical. For starters, it involves a lot of measuring and mathematics outside of the classroom. As Deziel points out, it keeps the mind nimble.
But perhaps its most practical benefit is that it saves you money. Many pieces of top-quality wood furniture may cost you an arm and a leg. Why burn through your bank account if you can build one yourself? The nice thing is that you can also be creative with the design.

It would work for books, knick-knacks wouldn't be safe though
Load More Replies...I love this, aesthetically. Unfortunately, I have far too many books to make room for shelving that doesn't make the most efficient use of space possible. My right-angled shelves are already two layers deep...
That is so fantastic! I’ve always wanted one, but now I gave nowhere to put it.

Woodworking may also be a beneficial activity for kids, and Philadelphia’s The School in Rose Valley has made it part of the curriculum. The school believes it can help youngsters practice perseverance, develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and learn discipline.
“The desire to make things is so general in children that they are willing to go through much hard work to reach their ends,” said Principal Grace Rotzel.

We Now Have A Fancy Bathroom Door
As a person who's had literally decades of cleaning work, this can be tackled by a vacuum and upholstery brush in only a few minutes per month. Just make sure the grooves aren't textured. If they are, the designer can rot in hell where he deserves.

This “belongs” somewhere/somewhen. I can feel it, but I can’t quite put my finger on it. Office of a University President? Reading room at a private High School? Law Library? (Side note: I pity da fool who has to move it anywhere. I hope it comes apart into top and bottom pieces, or it’s never leaving that room.)
He also used cherry wood. It was made for a client, took him about 3 weeks, and earned him over $10,000

Load More Replies...The Floors Under Bad Carpet In My Previous Home. Built In 1904
Someone who couldn’t afford to have it refinished. I hope it can be. The slats used to assemble parquet floors like that are thin. They can only be sanded and revarnished a few times before they get too thin. We might have that issue with the floors in my Mom’s house. They need refinishing, but we’re not sure if there’s enough thickness left in the planks to get it done. IMG_2364-6...c-jpeg.jpg
Why, just why do people put carpets over floors like this one??
There was a pervasive fad for wall to wall carpet in the ‘60s. Everybody had wood floors. Carpet was something new and different. In a house of the right age, there’s almost always hardwood floors under the carpet. Not usually as nice as this one though.

Little Guy With Sneakers Side Table I Made
Not at all stable enough to be useful. That would keel over the first time you put something on or removed something from the table unless you were VERY careful.
It's up against the wall and possibly bracketed to it? Doesn't look like the top makes a full circle, so there would be a flat edge against the wall.

Im No Carpenter, But Built This Princess Castle Bed For My Little Girl 1 Year Ago. I Was Beyond Proud Of It. I’m Sad To Say She Is Now Scared To Sleep So High Up And Wants It Gone. Wanted To Post It One Last Time Before Tearing It Apart
Is it possible to lower the height of the bed, say midway? Then it could later be raised again when she's older. If you can't, I would give to another family
Please do not tear that down! She will change her mind when she's a little older and regret having you take it down.
My suggestion would be to see if someone else would want this. After you put all that work into it, it would be to bad to tear it apart/desrroy it.
Could you put her bed in the bottom part and move it back up when she's older? I wouldn't tear it down unless I absolutely had to.

Staircase I Just Finished
Umm important detail: They should have left what is called a "nosing" for the safety of the users. Nosing is the small protrusion of the thread over the rise where one's toes/heels go while going up or down the steps/stairs....Also, seen from the top, the top thread and the one below look visually the same. The limits/edges of the threads are not distingusihable, which is a safety issue.
If you click the username and go to the original Reddit post then you will see the actual staircase. Out of the 3 pictures there, BP chose the poorest example.
Oh my goodness. The same mistake carried on to an entire staircase. Sorry, but they are really problematic.
