The moment that you think you’ve got life all figured out, the universe throws you a curveball. Possibly in the form of an interesting opportunity, but (if we’re completely honest) most likely in the shape of a funny or surprising picture that makes you snort into your cup of tea. You see, despite all of humanity’s flaws, people are actually very creative and come up with some extremely bizarre things.
One place that documents the funny, creative, and sometimes plain downright weird things that humanity has done is the ‘Of Course That’s a Thing’ subreddit. A community of just over 723k people, r/ofcoursethatsathing does exactly what it says on the tin: it invites people to share pictures of things that make you think, “Of course that’s a thing.”
It’s more a feeling than a phrase, and you’ll find the very best examples of just how peculiar a world we really live in below. Remember to upvote the pics that made you go “what?” and be sure to share this list with your friends. You and I both know that they’ll enjoy some of these images! Personally, as a huge D&D nerd, I’m a big fan of the bread alignment chart, but be sure to let everyone know which one’s your #1 pic.

Creativity is an intrinsic part of being human. It might not always produce something that’s objectively good in aesthetic terms, but it’s still one of the things that drive us forward. Beauty, after all, is in the eye of the beholder (even if that beholder should really read up a bit more on what’s actually stylish).
National Geographic spoke to Agustín Fuentes, the author of ‘The Creative Spark: How Imagination Made Humans Exceptional,’ about art and its relationship to our evolution.

“We tend to think of these beautiful cave paintings of the big mastodons and wild oryx as art. But that’s only about 40,000 years old. We know that 85,000 years ago, in southern Africa, our ancestors were carving on ostrich eggshells. Twenty thousand years earlier than that, they were drilling holes in small shells and wearing them around their necks,” Fuentes told National Geographic.

“One hundred thousand years before that, they were crumbling ochre and rubbing it on their bodies. Five hundred thousand years before that, half a million years ago, they were making tools that were incredibly beautiful and more symmetrical and aesthetic than they had to be to do their jobs. Art is very deep in human history,” Fuentes explained that art is fundamentally a part of who we are. Then and now.

The ‘Of Course That’s a Thing’ subreddit has been around since 2013, so you know for a fact that its content is something that captures people’s attention. No doubt, sometimes, because the pictures are very errr imaginative. Otherwise, without this quality content, the subreddit wouldn’t have survived and thrived for so long. The community will also be celebrating its eighth birthday in a couple of weeks. So, if you like their stuff, think about joining the subreddit or just popping in with a quick, ‘Hi, congrats.’
I Need This Lazy Susan Fridge!
The first time I saw this I thought it was stupid, but after feeling awful for having to throw away food because I just didn't see it way back in the fridge... I kind of want one. Plus I'm a klutz and always knock stuff over when trying to grab something in the fridge.

Before joining the subreddit, though, there are a few rules that you have to be aware of. They’re all common sense things anyway, so they shouldn’t be a problem for anyone who isn’t an internet troll or a massive bigot. Obviously, there’s no place for racism, sexism, or bigotry on the r/ofcoursethatsathing subreddit.

What’s more, the subreddit moderators ask their members not to post any memes or image macros and to avoid self-promotion posts. Furthermore, all members should strive to be polite and void rudeness. “Everybody has a line; if you feel yours was crossed, this is your report option,” the moderators explain. And that’s how you keep an online community wholesome and healthy. All so that people can keep on saying, “Of course that’s a thing.”

Sneaker Raincoats
Yes, but these have a draw string on top, which I'd find really useful. I want a pair to use with my dance shoes when I have to walk somewhere wet and/or muddy.
Load More Replies...I’d use them for other shoes too. Do they make a set for heels? I mean, who wants their Ferragamos/Jimmy Choos/Louboutins (or just your last pair of nice interview-worthy shoes, regardless of brand), getting wet and ruined, am I right?
They're called galoshes, for those of us born before they started naming generations.
Do you remember 'rubbers" that protected your shoes from rain?
Load More Replies...Wow good to have in a car for emergencies, I’m sure lots of sneaker heads have
I'm thinking the soles would get damaged easily, by walking on pavement etc. Easy fixed with something more substantial.
Biggest use for them would be at open-air festivals, I feel...
Load More Replies...No profile to the soles of these raincoats. Have fun slipping and falling in them!
If you dont want your shoes to get dirty why u get shoes that's what does are for, protecting your feet, and getting dirty so your feet dont have to.
especially useful for those rainy days when you wear your $1000 Nikes
They're called galoshes. They used to even come shaped with heels, for women who wore heels to work. (Threw my late mother's pair away after she died a few years ago.) It's to protect the shoe from getting ruined, not just to protect your feet from getting wet.
Now these I'd wear - I get fed up with my trainers leaking in wet weather.....and I live in the UK!!!
Dear God, have you never heard of rain boots? They really do exist, have for longer than I've been around and work just fine.
Years ago they made plastic boots to cover women's shoes when it rained and were see thru like this. Many women used them to protect their work shoes; pretty cheap at around $8, too!
I bought a pair, but it was too small for my sneakers so I gave them to my daughter ... they came in very handy for her while she is Mass. during winter ... I ended up buying a bigger pair and have them ready to use for rain ...
Ah, yes...previously known as Galashes. As a kid, I hated trying to get them off after I got to school.
Not really different from rainboots except that they just go over your regular shoes...I might look into these
You do know, that shoes are meant as foot raincoats, so next step is sneaker raincoats raincoats
In my head the only use for shoes is to keep your feet clean and safe from harsh environments. So meaning the shoe is supposed to get dirty and that's what they are intended for. So it's just odd to me that people get upset about dirty shoes. Or when they don't look nice, like that's the point/purpose. Then again I guess some people are into clothes, shoes, and fashion. But it truly shouldn't matter what you wear. As long as you have shoes and clothes.
Everything old is new again...old ladies used to wear these plastic shoe covers on their feet. Some even had a shaped section for your (sensible, ugly) heels to fit into.
Well, we do have to keep those precious, waterproof, sneakers dry don't we?
Only the real ones about putting plastic bags around your J's when it rained
My Grandmother used these back in the 50's but they just folded over at the ankle with a snap to close.
Little girls and women actually wore an early version in the late 50's , early 60'sof this because most shoes were leather or Hush Puppies. Great shoes, but God forbid they get wet. It was heavy plastic with a wide opening to get your feet in and then it folded over to prevent rain getting in and secured with a large button. They would look weird today but it was great because wherever you arrived at you had dry shoes.
If you have new sneaks but don’t want to get them wet HERES THE ANSWER
I’ll get these for my son. He is ridiculous when his trainers get even a speck of mud on them .
In the UK it feels like it has rained for 40 days and 40 nights. I would buy these!
When you see how much some people can spend for those things, you understand why they would want to keep them clean.

I believe some entries on this post have been removed and replaced with new ones. I remember commenting on one of the entries. I just want to add additional info to that comment. It's gone now.
