We often forget what a wondrous world we live in. While getting caught up in our hectic schedules makes us oblivious to things around us, today we're gonna zoom in on the unseen and unnoticed side of things.
So welcome to Bored Panda’s amusing collection of the most fascinating and rarely seen objects, beings, places, occurrences, and everything that will bring out that inner curious child we have inside.
From a macro shot revealing the density of penguin feathers to rainbow cloud spotting, this is something you only see in a video game. Or if you open your eyes and pay attention. Psst! More incredible photos of rarely seen things can be found in our previous posts here, here and here.

This Is What Sunset Looks Like From Space
Even in times of scientific and technological advancements, our beautiful planet remains full of mysteries. From the incredible bismuth crystal that looks like it came from some sort of sci-fi film to the enchanting glowing forest in Japan with its luminescent mushrooms scattered along the forest floor, there are so many exquisite finds on Earth. They make us question how much about the place we inhabit we don’t really know.
Some of the most standout mysteries that have been captivating the imagination of many throughout the years include Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. The structure consists of a ring of standing stones, with each stone standing approximately thirteen feet high, seven feet wide and weighing 25 tons. It’s believed to have been built about 5000 years ago, but scholars still do not agree on what its purpose could have been.
Another mysterious object is the stone spheres found in Costa Rica, located on the Diquis Delta and on Isla del Cano. There are over three hundred petro spheres scattered throughout the country that are still considered a great, unsolved archaeological mystery. The heaviest of them weighs many tons, and they’re believed to be made of granodiorite.

Horses On A Plane
You're not horsing around with that comment.
Load More Replies...“I have had it with these m************ horses on this m************ plane!”
Fun Fact: The build up of horse farts have been known to set of the planes cargo fire smoke detection system.
Huh I didn't know that but now I do thanks for the fun fact
Load More Replies...Now these are the kind of fellow passengers I would have no problem traveling with. Though their bathroom habits aren’t exactly optimal…
Why would horses need to be on airplanes in the first place? (genuenly curious)
Horses are flown all the time for competitions, sales, or even moving. My friend and I imported a horse from Sweden....he was flown to the U.S. Another friend moved to England from the U.S. and flew her horse back. Olympic team horses are flown, etc.
Load More Replies...First. Horses are never cattle, even if humans are
Load More Replies...A human can move down both sides of the plane, and in between each row of horses, to check on them! I hate that their head movement is limited by a harness thingy! I guess they might bite each other!?
Sure the'll check on them .......don't want to lose money.
Load More Replies...What is freaking awesome to you, Robert T? Animal abuse, pain and suffering? Do you think that any animals enjoy it? Do you think that horses wanted to be on the plain? Do you think they'll enjoy what will happen to them, do you? Forgive me, are you too naive or too compassionless?
Load More Replies...These horses are bound for Japan to be slaughtered and eaten. See how nice and fat they are? Please contact your reps and ask for support for the SAFE Act which would make it illegal to ship American horses to slaughter.
I have previously helped load and unload horses from planes and trucks and vans. The horses are usually pretty calm about the whole thing.
What else can they do to make their suffering go away? They sense what will happen to them will not be kind.
Load More Replies...I would guess the neck brace things are because horses can sleep standing up. And this way they won't fall, try to lay down, or climb out!
How about getting your mxxxxxxxxxn head out of your mxxxxxxxxxn ass!!!
Load More Replies...Being shipped overseas for slaughter most likely 😪 without food or water for the duration of the flight. Animal cruelty.
You are right Allison. All these posts from people that think they are funny probably don't have a clue about this. Or they just don't care.
Load More Replies...Most definitely Sue, valuable blood stock and competition animals are not shipped in this manner.
Load More Replies...Yes, with no food or water for hours and even days. And then slaughtered for human consumption.
Load More Replies...When I worked for FEDEX I remember helping load these magnificent thoroughbreds onto a plane for a very important race. I will never forget the experience!
If I was on a plane with horses i will be sitting on one I like horses
Yes, Feline, and also to Aisa. Most people are unaware of this practice. Valuable blood stock and competition animals are not shipped in this cruel way. They are crammed into tiny boxes without being able to turn around or lie down and they do not have access to food and water.
Load More Replies...Yes it is Catherine. Most people have no idea that these animals are heading for slaughter after a grueling and terrifying flight with no food or water. They think they are really clever with their stupid jokes.
Load More Replies...Emily, I hope you don't love horses on your dinner plate because that's where they are headed. Bloodstock and competition horses are not shipped in this manner. They don't even have access to food or water for hours and even days.
Load More Replies...Sadly, horses from Canada (especially from Winnipeg and Calgary) get shipped to Japan for meat consumption a few times a year. They are crammed into tight crates and travel under extreme stress for over 14 hours. This photo is a perfect example of what they go through.
Load More Replies..."Hey Al, where are we going?" "I don't know, but I hope it's soon. My stable stinks!"
Cruel and senseless ! Put on a strange track, beaten, encouraged with a whip then expected to WIN ??
My heart really aches seeing this picture. Horses are one of the most sensitive animals there are. This must be horrific for them to undergo this. By the way I think that no anìmal whatsoever should be put on a plane. Especially not on sedatives. There souls or spirits just can't handle it and where not made for this. And yes I hate any kind of animal transportation. Some even break a foot, hip or leg and lie there in pain trampled on for hours. It's so so sick!!
More terrified than bored, they are not given food or water so they arrive at their destination starved and dehydrated only to meet with a bolt gun and decapitation and butchered for human consumption. It's indeed very sad.
Load More Replies...Cool! I just hope that this isn’t a long trip, because the carts look a little bit cramped.
Please know that these very stressed and sensitive animals. They are crammed into these tiny boxes for hours and even days without food and water, and they certainly can't even turn around or lie down. Then they are slaughtered. Definitely NOT cool!!!
Load More Replies...Where are they going? This doesn't look good. Most likely to be exploited in some cruel way, and then slaughtered.
How could anyone get to them to calm them down if they panicked or fell in their stalls?
Horses normally only lie down for 2 to 3 hours a day to sleep, but they can sleep standing up. And they normally never sleep more than 30 minutes at a time.
Load More Replies...Nice if you think it's ok to cramb these sensitive and intelligent animals into tiny crates with out food or water for hours and even days only to meet with a butcher knife. Then yes, really nice.
Load More Replies...I have HAD it with these mother f*****g equines, on this mother f*****g jet line!
Poor things! I am sure they must feel the changes in air pressure/altitude, etc. It's not easy on humans in a pressurized cabin. I can't imagine that it wouldn't be horrible for them.
That ONE black dun/grullo/grulla among all the chestnuts and bays thinkin he/she is the odd one out-
That's the least of their worries when they are trapped in tiny boxes without food or water for hours and often days only to meet with a bolt gun and decapitation and cut into steaks and roasts to be served up to people like you who don't give a dam.
Load More Replies...Why? Because they are headed for slaughter? Laugh it up then.
Load More Replies...Very funny. You know that they are cooped up in tiny boxes for hours and even days without food or water only to be met with a bolt gun and decapitation for human consumption right? I'm really sad that you find it so funny.
Load More Replies..."Ya know Flicka, it just takes way too long for them to push the coffee cart down here."
Very funny, you know they are crammed into tiny boxes without food or water for hours and even days only to meet with a bolt gun and decapitation and be served up to people like you that don't give a dam. You know that and think it's hilarious right?
Load More Replies...Yes, many senior horses that are rewarded for a lifetime of service by being crammed into a tiny box with no food or water for hours or even days only to be served up to people like you that don't give a dam. Please tell me what's funny about this.
Load More Replies...White horse: "Uh, excuse me sir, I have to go to the bathroom...OH F**K, COME ON MAN!"
I don't see what's funny about highly sensitive and intelligent animals crammed into tight stalls for hours and even days without food or water only to meet with a bolt gun and decapitation and served to people like you. Tell me the joke again? I'm missing the funny part, I don't get it.
Load More Replies...And apparently you find it funny that these horses are cooped up for hours and even days without food or water only to meet with a bolt gun and decapitation and wind up on human plates. Please enlighten me, I don't get the joke.
Load More Replies...I'm sorry you find it funny that these horses are stressed out for hours and even days without food or water only to be slaughtered for human consumption.
Load More Replies...These are horses being flown for hours and even days without food or water to foreign markets only to be slaughtered for human consumption.
Load More Replies...Yes, they will be nothing but ghosts after traveling for hours and even days with no food or water only to be slaughtered for human consumption. I can't believe people are finding this worth joking about.
Load More Replies...What? I guess you think horses shipped for slaughter in foreign markets left for days without food or water to end up shot with a bolt gun and then decapitated is funny. You are hilariously ignorant.
Load More Replies...Horses shipped for slaughter in foreign markets with no food or water and you think it's awesome?? Virginia, your ignorance is showing bitch.
Load More Replies...My daughter worked for a airline shipping company. The left with 50 cows and landed with 51.
Ya Tayro, horses headed for slaughter after a terrifying and gruelling flight with no food or water. F*****g hilarious.
Load More Replies...Ya Mohra! And then imagine a bolt gun and decapitation after a terrifying and gruelling flight with no food or water? What a joke! You are so f*****g hilarious bitch.
Load More Replies...The manes and reins stay mainly on the plane ... okay, but at least I tried.
I’d love to know what goes through their minds when they’re taking off and landing.
They don't even have any food or water. You are so hilarious.
Load More Replies...Standing room only, move along please. Minutes later......tickets please!
Why is Judy Watson's comment down-voted??? Is it uncomfortable to hear the horrific truth, "gentle", "compassionate" down-voters?????
Load More Replies...This is NOT right, but what is the back story and where do they wheel the drinks trolly?
Though this is done, it is not safe and it has been known, especially if there is turbulence, for horses to break their legs.
Again, "compassionate", "good" people do not want to hear the truth and down-vote lara's comment.... that's least they can do to make themselves to feel better, to confirm their "humaneness".
Load More Replies...Look at their laid-back ears pointing out how pissed they are to be treated like this. Just waiting to take a bite out of any human that even comes near.
Yes, and rest assured people will be taking a bite out of them when they get to the slaughter house.
Load More Replies...Sadly many thousands of horses are transported ever year by plane from various countries to here in Canada to be slaughtered for food that is then shipped oversees again. As a Canadian I am ashamed of this little known fact!!☹️
They are sedated so they pretty much sleep the entire flight

Sendai Daikannon, One Of The Tallest Statues In The World
I am fascinated by the optical effect of the design. The statue is not at full body length, it's around 3/4, missing the bottom 1/4. This makes the brain believe that the statue goes lower (like if the legs of the statue extended down), therefore it's perceived longer than it actually is. How cool!

My grandad worked for British Ordnance Survey in the 1950s and 60s, he went out, measured the landscape and then hand drew maps. When he died, we cleared out his home studio and I found at least 6 of these in various draws, boxes etc. I remember sitting with him as a child running them over maps to see where we were in relation to landmarks etc. I still love looking at maps 30 years after his death as it reminds me of the gentle, kind soul he was.
