Honestly? Lots of things but one thing here on Bored Panda: Please donโt downvote others because you disagree. If itโs racist, misogynistic, mean and nasty then yes go for it. Hey Pandas, Which Thing Annoys You The Most About Having Mental Illness?
The self-doubt that I even have a mental illness/trauma in the first place. I tell myself my trauma isnโt valid because it happened a while ago, it didnโt turn into PTSD and I know people who have been through a lot worse. I invalidate my anxiety because itโs different than what other peopleโs anxiety looks like. I ignore my trauma from the pandemic because โeveryone else experienced it, so does it really count as trauma?โ I tell myself my depression wasnโt valid because I was able to overcome it. On good days when I have my meds, I feel bad for saying I have ADHD, even if I donโt say it, and even when I know itโs true. I think that partly comes from the fact that one, I donโt fit the little white boy template for a lot of mental illnesses, and two, Iโm at the less severe end of the spectrum. I feel guilty getting help because I think I can handle my mental health in my own, and Iโm taking opportunities for help away from someone who has it โworseโ than me. I donโt count my extreme overthinking or intrusive thoughts as problems because I donโt have a name or diagnosis for them, even though theyโre impacting my mental health. Iโm grateful that I can notice these things, because I know thatโs the first step in overcoming this. Honestly, writing this has been really helpful. I appreciate this post a lot, thank you. ๐
