As a straight (sort-of white) dude myself, I have always suspected that men are offended by trans women because they secretly fear that by being attracted to them that makes them gay, and therefore not real men. I am not a psychologist though. And yes, I have no problem admitting that there are very attractive trans women out there.

This is true - but then the rightwing stats also need to be adapted. "80% of immigrants commit crimes" sounds horrible, until it turns out that 99% of these "crimes" are related to the immigration process and cannot be committed by US citizens, and that they are usual something like "handed it a form 1 day too late". -> This is what happened when similar stats in Germany were looked at.

That's what we should always do with stats, contextualize and give sources. Undocumented immigrants make up for 3.5% of US population (americanimmigrationcouncil.org), non -naturalized immigrants in general about 7%. So stats about US citizens is not telling much, it seems to be overall the same in both populations. The "less than 1%" for transgender people is way to imprecise to make anything out of it as it's close to the percentage in the general population. I won't start on the 80% of straight men, clearly they represent less than 80% of the general population. Now, strictly white people make for less than 60% of the population (census.gov). so if they reperensent 87% of abusers, there is something there.

The power of men? Our place in the scheme of things (and I say this as a man) is to look after the ones who will be creating the babies necessary for the survival of the species. But sadly we have egos and couldn't handle being second best, so Gods were created, Our Father became the narrative, and it's been *thousands* of years of oppressing women. Because we can p¡ss up a wall and they can create life...there's simply no contest or comparison that makes sense.

Many people have a misconception that being in the 1% means that you're uber-rich and powerful. The reality is that these days the 1% are just as much a target for wealth drain as the rest of society, they just have a better chance of surviving the downward mobility.

Not a whole nation, just enough people to win over the other option.

I'm a nurse, i want to work because i love my job. What i don't want to be is overworked and underpaid, which is the current situation of healthcare workers.

I've had jobs that I loved and really enjoyed being at; however, I was exploited by management and then fired for being Gay. Being that it was the late 80s, early 09's, and I was a naive teen, I didn't know I could sue.

I honestly enjoy my job and would probably keep it even if i didn't need the money. But I've had jobs before that were absolutely soul crushing.

So true. Sometimes I wonder what people thing an economy is for. It's not just to generate wealth. It's to generate safe and abundant living conditions for as many people as possible. Until we can live inside a bank account and eat the money we find there, capitalism for it's own sake won't make any d**n sense at all.
