People will always find a way to make their cats even more embarrassed and adorable than ever before. For maximum cuteness, just stuff your cat into this cozy and cute-looking burger bun cat bed. It seems like the burger bed saw its first hint at internet fame after it was “reviewed” by Maru, the Japanese celebrity cat who had previously gone viral for his playful manner and box-related antics.
Some adorable pictures have surfaced of a bunch of chubby puppies in China who have been pictured huddling around a staff canteen stove to keep warm. According to the chefs that work the stove, the pups won’t stop barking until the stove is lit. They all live in Jiulongjiang Forest Park in Rucheng county in southern China.
We love having cats and dogs around as our furry companions, but we often don’t give them much thought when we arrange our homes (unless you own any pet furniture). Nonetheless, our pets are understanding – they try to make do with human furniture. Things don’t always go as planned, however, and when everything goes south, their humans are there to capture hilarious photos like these.
Staff at the Greystoke Mahale resort in Tanzania have released beautiful footage of a young male pelican learning to fly that they took by strapping a small GoPro camera to his bill. They found the pelican, who has since been named “Big Bird,” roughly 4 months ago when he might have been separated from his flock by a powerful storm. The resort staff nursed him back to health and tried to get him to fly by running along the beach and flapping their hands.
For the last year, photographer Theron Humphrey has been traveling the United states capturing the stories of people who have accepted rescued pets into their lives for his “Why We Rescue.” With the help of Purina, he is out to help change the public’s perception of adopted rescue animals as especially temperamental or unhealthy.
Photographer Lynn Terry captured this adorable photo-booth-style series of pictures featuring Bumper shooting a big sloppy kiss on the cheek to her friend Willis. Bumper was rescued from a dog fighter and Willis was born to a mother that had been involved in the largest dog-fighting ring bust in human history – 500 dogs were rescued, including Willis’ mother.
We understand just how deeply heartbreaking it is that pandas aren’t suitable to be house pets, but these adorable panda-like puppies from China offer those of us who adore pandas a glimmer of hope. These adorable critters were born in the Jiangsu region in Northeastern China. Neither of their parents look much like pandas – mom was a local rural dog and dad was a Pekinese dog. Three pups from the litter look like pandas and the other three have different markings.
Meet Mercury. Despite missing his two front legs and all but one of the toes on his left hind leg, this inspirational survivor is just as rambunctious and playful as the rest of his pals. Mercury was found with his horrific injuries when he was just four days old – his eyes weren’t even open yet. His owners suspect that he must have been injured by a weed whacker. After taking him to a vet, they continued to care for him and tend to his wounds.
While we did write recently about furniture and home design for pets, we never had any idea that anyone would take it this far: an unidentified homeowner in California has spent $35,000 turning his home into a feline paradise. It’s not clear who this home is better for, the owner or the 18 cats he lives with. Spiral ramps, walkways, scratching posts, miniature stairways, crawlspaces and other awesome details designed specifically with his 18 fluffy roommates in mind.
Cats never fail to amaze us with their determination to fit into tight spaces, but the cats in these photos are the best of their best. Although it might look like some of them might not fit – where there’s a will, there’s a way. We may never be 100% sure just why cats love to cram themselves into small spaces, but it probably has something to do with predation and safety.
Pets and people share a very special bond when they grow up together, which is why we’ve compiled a list of pictures of people and their pets growing up and sometimes growing old together. Because of their shorter lifespans, dogs, cats and other domestic animals tend to grow out of their juvenile forms relatively quickly. In a few months, that cute and doofy puppy that’s tripping all over himself will be galloping between your legs enthusiastically, and in a few months more he or she will be approaching their adult size.
Penny the chicken and Roo the two-legged Chihuahua are the latest unlikely animal pals to go viral for their adorable good looks, beautiful friendship and heartwarming survival stories. The two friends met each other through Alicia Williams, who works at Duluth Animal Hospital in the U.S. She saved both animals from almost certain death.
