Same, was wondering which one would make me tear up first. But Robin always does.
Load More Replies...I think it's safe to say the world did indeed get a bit more sad when we lost Robin Wiliiams. Rest In Eternal Power Always T_T
One of my favorites will always be the one where a mother is at a restaurant somewhere with her toddler and he's suddenly giggling hysterically non-stop because Robin is sitting nearby making funny faces at him.
Load More Replies...Robin Williams is one of my few personal heroes. The world would be a better place if more people tried to be like him.
Me too, I was so sad that month when he pass away. He is the hero.
Load More Replies...My mom and I spent a lot of time living in shelters. Come Christmas, they held a 'Kids Day' ostensibly to give the moms a break. They actually rounded us up and let us pick out one small present and one big present for our moms. This was 32 years ago, and I still cry thinking about it. What a beautiful gesture for a kid.
Y'all.... I just had to take off my glasses. Thank you.
Load More Replies...When I was in high school (girls' Catholic school), the girl who sat in front of me was really poor, like her uniform was frequently dirty as was her hair. I started noticing that a couple of times of month, she would be called to the office and come back with a paper shopping bag. The sisters were giving her extra groceries, like soap, some food items, etc. There was no such thing as welfare or food stamps. I only saw the contents because I sat right behind me. Now, that's a good kind of charity.
Red watery eyes, nah it's just a bit of hay fever, honest
Load More Replies...I'm an adopted kid, adopted the day after I was born. Everyone always told me my adoptive mom was not my real mom. I'm 38 now amd my mommy was my mommy and nothing less. I can assure you this ment the world to your mom calling her mom.
I was adopted at birth. (I'm 42 now.) My parents have always been my parents, because they ARE my parents. I'm sorry you had to go through other people telling you that <3 I've in fact recently gotten in touch with one of my biological sisters and my biological mother, and I called my sister "big sis" and called my bio mom "mom". Apparently they weren't expecting that and it made them both so happy. But to me it was a simple truth - I have three sisters, one just happens to not be a DNA relative. I'm not ashamed of being adopted, and I consider ALL of them - bio and not - to be family. It doesn't negate my adoptive mom being my mom when I call my bio mom "mom", if that makes ANY sense XD
Load More Replies...Bored Panda got in touch with the lovely ladies behind Love of Aging, an organization dedicated to helping older folks live life to the fullest. Naturally, we wanted to know if there was any story behind its creation.
“Love of Aging was founded in 2020 by three friends — Candace Shivers (now 77), Liz Dietz (now 70), and Maureen Charles (now 64) – all experts on the difference that attitude makes one's experience of life. As we aged, we noticed that society wanted us to believe that life after 60 was on an inevitable downward slope, but that was not our experience. We found a lot to love about this stage of life, and we suspected that the key to our own experience was our attitude.”
This is so beyond sweet. It's not enough the little girl is taking the dog out. It's not even enough that she's careful with him. No, she has to give him a good chase of the mail carrier. I can't imagine the dog's joy.
I can guarantee that dog feels absolutely grand. When Stilgar was paralyzed for two months while he was still battling distemper, we took him everywhere in a giant dog stroller. We took him to several of our town's parks. I would grab every single leaf and stick and feather that I spied in the park and bring them over to him so he could sniff them, and I would "toss" the sticks for him into the front of the stroller so he could reach his head forward and "fetch" them (he would then lean his head over towards me to "bring me the stick".) His tail would be thumping the whole time. I'd sometimes hold him in my arms and run around with the other dogs in the dog park so Stilly could feel like he was running around with the other puppers himself. Stilly is such a sweet-hearted doofus today that I KNOW those activities had a positive impact on him XD
Load More Replies...I just love this and I would've been out there the next day helping them chase the postie and any squirrels we could spot.

Load More Replies...She would make a fine sister of battle and your mate would make a fine salamander.
Not to mention, the kid clearly heard them at night. Never underestimate how much your kids can hear when you think they're fast asleep.
Load More Replies...Yikes this hits too close to home, my parents used to go in their bedroom but leave the door ajar and I could hear everything wrong I did
One of my (64f) favorite memories is the one time I slept in a brother's room which was next to my parent's room. Though I couldn't hear the words, the low murmur of the voices sometimes changed to giggles and then laughter. I just knew mom was telling dad something silly one of the 4 of us did.
What were overhear seems so much more reliable than what is said directly.
I have a motto: Only speak of people behind their backs as if those people were listenng.
“We found research on aging and attitude that supported our claim. So, we decided to create a platform where we could explore the intersection of attitude, science, and aging and bring others along. Our mission: To engage communities in creating a new narrative for aging.”
The good news stories rarely make the general news unless they run out of bad news.
Load More Replies...I literally can't stop CRYING!!!!!! 😭 Feel like imma need therapy after these posts
We're probably the only ones they have reason to...
Load More Replies...Dogs are the best. I just love them. My therapist had a beautiful old golden retriever (who sadly died recently at a grand old age) and he would just heave himself up from his comfy doggy bed and sit next to me when I was recounting something particularly traumatic. He just knew that his big soft presence would be soothing, and it was. Thank you, Rocco! We all contributed plants for his grave in her garden and it's now in full bloom.
This is a thing with retrievers. They like to retrieve whatever smells like you when they're thinking of you. Mine would miss me when I was gone, so would collect my dirty underclothes at the front door to comfort himself. Kinda sweet, but kinda embarrassing when taking home company.
Our lab collects on of my shoes whenever he realises I am about to leave the house. It's either to stop me from leaving or to make sure he can come along, it depends on his mood
Load More Replies...If a dog brings you something they value, whether smelly socks, a bone or a chewed ball, it's their way of showing their love by offering you their most precious thing. They don't do it to everyone, it has to be earned, so I really appreciate every time my sweet old mutt presents me with her favourite plastic bone. ❤️
If I'm really crying, bawling, our dog will bring her toys, one at a time, to try to make it better.
And I make sure to tell my dog how nice of a toy she has and how much I appreciate her sharing it with me. She might not know the language, but she can tell from my reaction that I'm glad she did it, so that's enough.
Oops, the ashes from that fire got into my eyes and are making it hard for me to read this.
True SUPERMAN, need more like this in our world today, glad you both made it out alive.
The look in firefighter Jeff's eyes while he's holding you says it all. I'm glad your son got to meet him.
So we decided to ask them to share some common misconceptions about living at an advanced age. “We all have hidden biases. Mostly, we don’t realize we hold preconceptions about aging. Yet research shows that – although there are exceptions in countries like China and Japan – most of the world’s prevailing cultural age beliefs today are negative. We have been bombarded with these negative age beliefs since infancy and they result in implicit bias – that is, unconscious, unintended beliefs that shape our thinking and actions.”
Twist the cats not really blind just pretending in solidarity with their owner
My previous cat would sleep on my bed. If I had to get up in the middle of the night I wouldnt turn on any lights, but my cat knew I couldn't see in the dark as well as her and she would guide me back to bed by quietly meowing.
My friend rescued a blind black cat (Midnight) and then adopted a kitten to be her guide-cat (Comet). The two are inseparable now, with Comet always guiding Midnight safely around the house.
Cats are smart never underestimate their intelligence..not unlike some humans in the range though!!
Alger G. Nava, if you’re serious, know that cats can hear so much more than we can.
Load More Replies...I can see, but am still able to type without looking at the keyboard. Today there are all kinds of software that helps the blind do all kinds of things, including using devices. My ex-stepdad, who is blind, had one of the first commonly used screen readers in the 80s (by the voice sound, probably the same one used by Steve Hawkins to communicate).

Bah! This gets me in the feels. My nephew has autism, and is in love with facts about anything theater, tv, movie related. He would have adored this! He wrote and mostly illustrated a book called The New Superhero. It's about a kid just like him. I hope that one day it'll be produced for more than just family members. Go school!
What a great way to play to someone's strengths. I'd love to see that play.
“Common misconceptions: Myth #1: Most old people are weak, sedentary, doddering, disabled, and incapable. (Think Mr. Magoo!) Reality: Evidence shows that with the right contextual and social supports, older adults can remain healthy and maintain high levels of independence and functioning—even while experiencing some of the natural changes in vision, hearing, mobility, and muscle strength associated with aging.”
Growing up, we had a frosted-glass front door, which meant I could sorta see my dog, but he couldn't see that I could see him... but he could hear me. He would wait for me at the front door, and as I approached he'd get all excited and run up and down the stairs in excitement. And as I opened the front door, he'd plop on his side and pretend he was sound asleep to play it cool.
My husband told me the cats know the sound of my engine so he would always know when I was home because all 3 would come out from all corners of the house and wait by the door.
Load More Replies...When I was young we had a Chihuahua named Cinnamon that would go apeshit at the sound of my Mom's truck. It was hilarious because my Mom was in her 50's and after Dad died she had to trade in his old Ford truck, since it was on its last leg (we also had a 70's station wagon with wood panels on the side) bought a 85 Chevy that was a fire engine red truck, with a big block motor and one of my Sister's boyfriend put on big tires and silver bed rails, so needless to say it made a very distinct noise. My friends had a airbrushed license plate for the front of the truck that said "Hotrod Granny" which she loved. Anyways, it didn't matter if Mom was home and it was 2 am, Cinnamon would go nuts when he heard Mom's truck. Which was okay when he gave us warning that Mom was almost home, but if you had borrowed her truck and out past curfew, that damn dog made it IMPOSSIBLE to sneak in to the house. I swear to God we got busted more times because of Cinnamon and that little thing was Mom's alarm and tattle tell, so she spoiled the s**t out of him. 😂😂
My cat hears the garage door open in the evening and races to the door so she can greet me when I come in.
My son does this for my little chihuahua. He looks at her and says "your mama?" And she runs to the stairs to wait for me. Love em both
When I was married, I had two dogs that I could swear could tell time.. we'd be doing our thing all day, and they'd be sleeping in my lap all afternoon, tired out from our long walk, but 15 minutes before my husband was due home from work, they would get up and go sit by the door.. I'd still be sitting on my couch, watch TV or reading, so it's not like I'd do anything different to signal he was coming home.. they just seemed to always know when he was on his way..
my pets know the sound of each of our cars, even my sister who usually is only able to come visit once a month. They start barking and howling like crazy when we pull in the driveway and are waiting at the door when we open it to come inside.
Had a cat many years ago, she would sit on a neighbours wall at the end of our street (about 75 feet from my house) and wait for me to come home from work, she'd hop on my shoulders and I'd carry her back.
Indeed. I am so glad that I was able to say I love you to my Mom on the phone a month before she passed away after having hip surgery (suspected blood clot).
Load More Replies...It became a thing for me & my sisters & later my daughter to say I Love You whenever we left or hung up the phone after my parents died since you just don't know if that will be the last you see or talk to them.. I purposely didn't say it once to my grandson because I was dropping him off in front of his school friends, but he said it first. Nobody blinked. He recently did it on the phone again with his gym friends. No problem.
OMG - I took my son (13) and some friends to the mall and told them we'd meet back at this spot in one hour. Met up with them and my son came running up to me yealling, "Mommy!" And then he proceeded to hug/lift and twirl me, while giving me kisses. I was laughinig so hard, but his friends looked really uncomfortable. One of them said, "Dude, what are you DOING?" And Josh was like, "What? You don't love your MOTHERS? Shame on you. Do you have any idea how much this woman has done for me?" 31 years later and I still remember it vividly.
Awe! On a side note though, this literally happened with my order this weekend. I sent a similar message telling them to enjoy and apologies profusely as I could see they were after almost reaching the address before I realised. Dude called me cursing and screaming. 😬 I felt so guilty until thay call. I hope he was just having a super bad day otherwise he won't last long in deliveries!
You never know when a small kindness on your part makes a huge blessing for someone else.
“Myth #2: Aging is a decline that ends in dependency. Reality: Experts (geriatricians, gerontologists, and social scientists) view aging as a continuous process of human development that brings new opportunities for growth, contribution, and self-expression across our lifespan. Aging is not synonymous with decline, disease, or disability.”
My 7YO daughter wants to be a paediatrician but if that doesn't work out she wants to be a waste collector because she really wants to ride on the back of the truck. I told her that they have pretty good pay (here, at least) and great working hours for family life (you're up early but done by lunchtime). Plus all the kids at kindergarten think you're the coolest and the bin truck always honks if they see children waving at them.
My youngest brother used to say he wanted to be a motorcycle. Not a motorcycle driver, just the motorcycle. One day me and the rest of my siblings looked at each other and decided we will make him a motorcycle. We got cardboard, tape, and all the other craft things one would need. That day my brother became a motorcycle. Now he wants to be a vet.
When I was much younger, I wanted to be a waitress, everytime my parents had friends over or parties they made me a name tag and let me serve everyone. Obviously, it was great for them as they had a little gopher but they never told me that I should aspire for more. My teenage years of waitressing put me off for good though!
You basically have been the absolute dream child of all parents 😂
Load More Replies...When I was 4, I wanted to be a cashier because I thought all the money we gave them was for them (after all they were the only ones working !). My mother said "fine". Then I learnt the truth and I decided to become "chief of the police", and my mother took me to the local police station and asked if I could talk to someone. A young policeman showed us all the station, even the cells. At the end, my mother thanked him and he answered "just tell her my name so she can remember me when she is my boss !".
not to mention (aside from how important they are), in many places they get paid well. In NYC it is competitive and hard to get a DSNY job (you need a reference, pass an exam, etc, and still might not get it) because they pay well, good overtime, and good benefits. And the Union knows how to negotiate, bc no one wants them to threaten a strike
Well paying job, outside and not stuck at a desk (if that's what you like) and no student debt.

Load More Replies...This came at a very good time. I've an acquaintance who has suddenly gone into palliative care. Visited her, she's immobile and unblinking. At a loss, I settled for just talking. Reading this makes me think that maybe it wasn't so crazy to do so. Before going in, I knew she might not be eating, but took a bundle of M&S snacks to leave for the hospital staff looking after her. Gratitude, bribery, I don't care - everyone eats.
Hearing is the last sense to go, so there is a good chance that she can hear you even if she is unable to respond.
Load More Replies...When my grandma was about to die I talked to her for hours, assuring her I would be fine and that she could go in peace. We loved each other so much and I knew she didn't want to leave me, but it was her time. She was the love of my life and I miss her every single day!
Coma care units encourage the family and friends to sit and tell the patient about what is going on. Apparently, the hearing ability is there all the way.
I love how the kid didn't feel the need to explain. He got what he needed and took no credit. Well done.
I also love how mom didn't even bat an eye or ask why he wanted double.
Load More Replies...This is incredible. Can we normalize just looking out for each other?
The onions ninjas are getting to me. Not sure if I can keep reading these. Will try.
This is the best type of parent, obviously raising her child to be thoughtful and kind.
“Myth #3: Aging causes grievous memory impairment. Reality: Minor, short-term memory lapses are to be expected (at all ages) and are not an indication that our brains are in a general state of deterioration. In fact, other types of memory and brain function show no signs of deterioration and even improvement with age. Semantic memory – the recall of general knowledge – improves as we age. Procedural memory – our ability to recall and carry out a routine behavior, like driving a car or playing a musical instrument -- stays intact, neither improving nor declining. Neuroplasticity (the brain’s ability to stay flexible and sprout new neural connections) continues to develop.”
Duke was the neighbor's/landlord's dog. Was eating beef ribs cooked on the grill and hollered across the fence if it would be ok to give the bones to Duke. Permission granted, I dropped the paper plate of rib bones over the fence, and realized I couldn't get the plate. I got down to his level and said "Duke, I need the plate" and put my hand out. Duke nosed the bones off the plate, and pushed it under the gap in the chain link. Friend's at the cookout's minds blown, so was mine, but I just said "Thanks"...(small tail wag).
Btw: bones aren't safe for dogs. I see too many broken back teeth from bones and they can get swallowed and cause GI issues. Plus rib bones are often fatty and dogs eating fat are prone to pancreatitis. Just a heads up.
Load More Replies...I had a dog who would tattle on anyone for whatever he didn't like by looking at me, then the person and back and forth. He wouldn't stop unless I wiggled my finger at the person and telling them "you're in big trouble!" It was the same thing we would do to him when he was in trouble.
Our dog likes to look for crumbs under the table when we eat. I made her wait until I was done eating. Once day when we were eating she goes to the door & barks to go out, so I open the door. She goes back under the tables looking for crumbs. I thought maybe it was coincidence, but she does it a lot when we eat now, but I push my chair in lol
ij love how ur fur baby didn't bite hard! shows he does love u!
At daybreak if I haven’t fed her my cat Mildred starts knocking things of surfaces until I do.
In our nearest zoo, there is a small aardvark family (I am still not sure if it's a mom and her kids or a pair...) and just every time I see them, they are cuddled together and sleeping. There are sometimes two, sometimes three, but always happy in a big pile, with just a little moving paws/feet or snoring mouths/noses/trunks (you can't really hear it, but the typical movement is there). They are so cute.
“Myth #4: Aging is no fun. Reality: A recent study asked older adults around the globe what the best year of their life was. The number one answer was not 34 but 84! Myth #5: Attitude makes no difference to longevity. Reality: Studies have confirmed that people with a positive attitude toward aging live an average of seven and a half years longer than people with negative age beliefs.”

So we wanted to expand on those ideas and asked them to share some of the things that make older folks special. “Today’s older adults are an economic powerhouse, an experienced workforce (paid and volunteer) with longer working lives, and we have a lot to contribute. We are lifelong learners at our peak of wisdom and knowledge.”
gonna cry? as in, in the future? implying you got this far and the onion ninjas haven't snuck up on you already?

I agree with this completely. My mom has been gone for over 7 years and I miss her every single day. My oldest is starting her senior year in high school and her brother just a year behind. I would give almost anything for one more day, one more meal, one more conversation with her.
This hits home. It's my mom's birthday today. I live abroad and our schedules clash, we just managed a short text exchange. Hopefully tomorrow we will have time to talk.

“Cognitively, we are at the top of our game in three areas: Systematic thinking, which allows us to see the forest as well as the trees, rising above minutia to understand the bigger picture. Paradoxical thinking, which is the ability to hold the tension of multiple opinions simultaneously. We can approach our challenges from different angles for a more inclusive resolution. Emotional Intelligence, which is the ability to manage our emotions and respond sensitively to the emotions of others. Load More Replies...It happened to my son. Thankfully he was too young to really notice. Plus we were at an arcade so he was happy to get the extra tokens. I, however, was pissed since I had to pay 13$/kid BEFORE the party. 10 kids had rsvp'd. So ~200$ total for my son and his little sister to hang out at the arcade.
This exact same thing happened to my niece for her sixth. No one showed up. However, turns out another little girl was also having a birthday at the arcade that day so they just kind of joined forces.
Load More Replies...Honestly, this is why I don't celebrate my birthday anymore. Too many times I pour my heart and soul into planning and getting ready, only to get the old "Oh, I got invited to something else that weekend, I'm going to that instead," and not show up. Sends a pretty clear message.
Same here. I feel you. Now I just make my own plans. Last year I drove out to the country, went to a dahlia farm, stopped at a roadside fruit stand for Italian plums, and took a car ferry across the river. All by myself. And it was one of my best birthdays. You don't need anyone else to celebrate; YOU celebrate you! Edit for spelling.

Lastly, we wanted to know if they had any parting thoughts for our readers. “Yes. One of the best things you can do to add love to your aging is to have a purpose for your life. That would be nice. Mine burst out of my nether regions like a chest burster. Would have yelled "I'm free!!!!" If they could and hasn't sat still in 6 years, lol.

If you’re having a party, ALWAYS invite your neighbors. Even if they decline, it shows respect for their lives.
I used to invite all my neighbors to my parties where I lived in San Diego. I produced music for local rappers. Most of them were hardcore Crips & Bloods. My old neighbors would come hang out and the guys would take them for a ride around the block in their low riders. LOL
The Crips and the Bloods weren't at the same parties, right?
Load More Replies...as it should be. The pain of being left out lasts so much longer than the joy of being included.
We always invited our neighbours as we entertained groups of friends in outside ( covered) areas by design. Never had a complaint. Some came, some chose not to, we respected others and did not have any loud music. Lots of conversations, food, drinks and party time.

At my defense, one of the committee members (a very sweet and brilliant older man, well-known in his field) asked me a totally random, completely conceptual question that had absolutely zero to do with my topic. I knocked it out the park at rapid speed. It still bowls me over to this day, his kindness - he did it just to make me look good. RIP Ralph.

My husband, during training was shown how to check for sugar in the urinalysis. The professor put a finger in the urin and proceeded to lick his finger. He then told the students to do the same. They were gagging. My husband’s turn came and he stuck his index finger in the urin and licked his middle finger. The professor showed those students what he had done. The same as my husband did. The only one of his classmates.
This is definitely on the list of ways I will be lured to my death.
a neighour in our street, shortly after we moved in met my daughter (2 at the time) and I in front of his house while we were walking to the playground. He asked if we wanted to meet his chicken and bunnys. While we were walking into his garden I kept thinking that THIS is what you SHOULD NOT DO!

Many years ago I was laying out fabric and a dress pattern on the floor. Our Blue Heeler was at the door, and I was on the other side of the room. Rather than running across the fabric and tissue paper, she walked carefully around the edge to get to me. No damage at all.
Can you teach my dogs to do that? They think fabric on the floor is the perfect place to plunk their butts down onto.
Load More Replies...So legit just about 10-15 minutes ago, I was laying in bed scrolling thru this thread. About 5-10 minutes after I lay down my cat, Toto, decided she wants to step on my upper torso region, with all her weight. Mind you she may only weigh 7-9 lbs, but some areas are more sensitive and hurt more, when jumped on and what not. Anyway I was kinda in a slightly irritated/cranky tired mood, as I laid down and my Toto decides to jump on and dig her paws/weight on to me,.which hurts, especially when trying to relax, to go to sleep, hopefully. She then moves with her back end in the general direction of my face, as she swishes her tip of her tail on my face ect to tickle me& cheer me up. It worked and I laughed a lot, then we cuddled happily. 🥰 she's never really done that before. 💕
I took my oldest to his first haunted corn maze when he was 10. Turned out to be too scary for him. So I was loudly talking "it's almost over, I'm sorry it's too scary buddy"...all the corn actors came out of the stalks and just let us walk through without jumping out. Bless those teens.
We went to several haunted houses every year. We liked it, but at the same time, I was utterly terrified of the people jumping out at me. I remember one that was especially intense-- they jumped out at the adults, too, so there was no place to just take a deep breath. I couldn't take it. I pushed my mom towards one of the monsters so I could get by safely. Afterwards, she teased me about sacrificing her. I felt horribly guilty for years, as if I were in room 101.

Last time I went through a haunted house the guy at the beginning is doing his creepy talking thing and showing you the way in and then his baseball bat, with nails sticking out of it, got stuck on some web-like draping. I stopped and helped him get untangled, in his normal voice he was like "thanks so much, that was embarrassing". A few minutes later a 20 something girl working in the haunted house was doing her creeping following thing after she had jumped out to scare us and my daughter strikes up a conversation with her asking how to she got this job and did she have to audition, etc. The girl ended up giving her suggestions and tips. Apparently we don't do haunted house correctly.
for my birthday, maybe 7 or 8, truly dont remember, we went to scandia and since my birthdays close to halloween, the had fright night. i got too scared, so my grandma held my hand and asked the 'monsters' to not scare me, as i was already terrified. all of them bowed, made a way for me, and told others not to scare me. well, one didn't listen, (im giving him the benefit of the doubt and hopefully he just didnt hear it) and jumped out at me, sending me to tears. my uncle pushed him away from me against a wall.
We have an annual Haunted house that has under 10 years of age tours in the afternoons, early evenings. After dark it gets scarier for older people.
I went to a haunted house when I was young and got super scared right away. The Frankenstein monster gently lifted me up, told me everything was ok, and took me outside so I could wait for the rest of the group. It was very sweet.
I love all these stories about haunt people being kind. I work at a haunt, but I'm not an actor. I work in one of the vendors' booths, for my sister's merch company. And I can safely say, haunt people are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.
My blind cat used to do this. She would hide in plain sight and jump out and grab my Dad's legs when he was wearing shorts. She ONLY did it to him and he would shout every time, even when he knew it was coming. Absolutely made her day.

During my one year of college, part of my commute was a roughly 20 minute walk to the train station at 5:30 in the morning. I always had to leave five minutes or so earlier than strictly necessary because there was a Basset along the way who would wake up the neighborhood if I didn't stop and cuddle for a few minutes. I rarely walked home the same way, but one evening I did, the dog rushed out to greet me, and the man who was in the yard asked if I was the one who got Edgar so excited in the mornings. All he could see from his bedroom window was the dog accepting/giving love at the fence.
My husband worked with a guy whose name was Fred Basset Small world. 😂

Load More Replies...Years ago, I saw an withered old man who absolutely reminded me of a man who was one of the all-time legends of music at the DMV. We're talking one notch below Elvis Presley legend. We're talking taught Mick Jagger the moves like Jagger legend. We're talking Led Zeppelin aspired to sound like him legend. I couldn't help but stare, even though he seemed so old. I'll call him Rock Legend. The DMV clerk called out, "Legend? Mr Rock Legend?" He shuffled up there, and I was so intrigued I whipped out my phone and found that he did, for God knows why, live in my county! Now, it's possible that it WASN'T him. Both his first and last name were very common; might as well be John Smith. Maybe the clerk didn't recognize him because he was so old and frail. But it seemed bizarre to me that one of the most famous people in the world just had his name called out in a crowd and not one person batted an eye. (And yes, if you're in to origins of rock, you've probably guessed who, but I won't confirm it just because I don't want anyone knowing for certain what county I used to live in.)
I see this one often on BP and they can post it in every post. I don't care - it's wonderful!
Reminds me of a story told by a former colleague of her husband, a highly respected ex-navy officer, being stopped at the airport because a sniffer dog was showing interest in his briefcase. He was allowed to go with apologies when his briefcase turned out to contain sandwiches filled with home-made paté, which was what the dog was given as a reward when training.
I've seen this before....I can't help but think giving the treat in this case would reinforce the dog's confusion.

Went to a yard sale today. As I was going toward the stuff for sale I hear a meow. Look where it was coming from and see this cat walking toward the yard sale. I look at a couple of things. At this point the cat had laid down in the gravel of the drive way. The cat don't see me so I start to walk over toward it and say meow. As soon as I say that she jumps up and runs away without looking where it came from. Totally disappointed.
Haha. My 7 year old said "Daddy is the tooth fairy", and my teenager said "no, he's too cheap, the tooth fairy must be real". So, thanks?
Read here on BP about a boy who tried the scientific approach. Lost a tooth but did not tell his parents and put it under the pillow. Nothing happened. Two or three days later he told them and found some money the morning after. He then confronted them telling his parents that the tooth fairy was b******t
This is a duel disk from the tv show Yu-Gi-Oh. It's also a card game, whee you have card duels wth decks of around 30-40 cards. There are some basic similarities with Magic The Gathering, but they do play quite differently. Yu-Gi-Oh is the only duelling type card game that I know the rules of off the top of my head, though I must say that I have never played with a duel disk. Also the person in the photo is apparently not playing by the rules - you can only have three of the same named card per deck and they clearly have four of the same card on the field. Meanwhile my cat is sitting at the window with a fly buzzing around her, not moving a single paw.
Imagine getting attacked by that face. "oh oh it hurts, stop killing me,, but you're so sweet puddy,, kisses,, ugh I'm dead"
This is why you should keep your cat indoors. Enjoy your house cats; love them for blessing you with the unique gift of their presence. But know that each one is an ecological catastrophe each time they go outside. And it doesn't matter whether they are well-fed or not; does your cat stop playing with its toys after dinner? Do they stop stalking each other? No, they kill for play; it's an instinct to keep their skills sharp.
This cat is a wild cat so it doesn't exactly have someone to go to the supermarket and buy food for it. Spencer, my late cat, was not a hunter. He never wore a collar, he never roamed, he was scared of birds, he was inside at night every night and during the day when I was at work, had food to graze on constantly, would happily lie on the deck watching the skinks. Before he died, he liked to watch the cows in the paddock behind us. So no, not all cats are hunters or ecological disasters just like all dogs don't bark incessantly or bite.

They do periodic census checks by putting out loads of peanuts and logging the ones that show up. Well, there was an older big male that hadn't been seen in a while, so when one of the census-takers saw what appeared to be that male, he grabbed his phone, went out to where the bear was eating peanuts, grabbed him by the ear for a close-up of the tag. Apparently this man does this kind of thing all the time and has only been bitten once, on the hand.

I've seen the original post, and what the dog would do then is start licking any door in the house. Cupboards, bedroom doors, any door.
