Thoughts constantly swirl around in our heads. From when we open our eyes in the morning until we close them at night (and sometimes, even after that), there's always something for us to contemplate about.

In fact, a 2020 study suggests people typically have more than 6,000 thoughts per day. That's a lot. And as much as we'd like to believe otherwise, not all of them are brilliant. So with social media allowing us to instantly share whatever crosses our mind, we broadcast quite a lot of funny, weird, and infuriating personal takes, too.

To illustrate just how random our statements can be, we at Bored Panda put together a new publication on the subreddit whose sole mission is to capture the chaotic side of human interaction. Continue scrolling to check out its latest finds and fire up our earlier piece on it when you're done.

To learn more about our inner filters, we contacted Phil Reed, D.Phil., who is a professor of psychology at Swansea University.

"There are many reasons why people overshare," Dr. Reed told Bored Panda. "A lack of awareness about the dangers is one, but also the lack of 'real' social feedback online is a big contributor. Since there is a degree of anonymity, certain a lack of immediate feedback, people tend to get it wrong in terms of sharing."

However, even though the reasons why people overshare may vary, the act itself seems pretty much universal. Also, researchers from The University of Edinburgh and Northwestern University in Illinois found that the risk of oversharing in conversation actually increases as people age.

When testing 100 people from 17 to 84 years old on their attention skills, the researchers discovered that the older subjects provided listeners with more irrelevant details than their younger peers. As this behavior can be dangerous — older people, for example, might accidentally reveal private info to strangers looking to take advantage — this finding is essential in helping "design targeted training that helps older adults improve these skills and avoid embarrassing and potential risky communicative errors,” said lead researcher Madeleine Long, of the University of Edinburgh's School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences.

I feel the same about these appeal shows that they have on TV. Lots of celebrities virtue-signalling about how they are working the night for free as they try to guilt you into donating part of your rent to charity. Don't get me wrong, we give to local charities when we can afford to and they do some brilliant work. But I will not tolerate some rich TV star trying to make me feel guilty about keeping a roof over our head and food on the table. Furthermore, and this bit is horrible but it needs telling, a poor elderly lady killed herself in the UK a couple of years ago because she couldn't afford to give to every appeal directed her way. Every penny she had was sunk into charity appeals and when the money ran out she felt so bad that she had to end her life. Literally killed by kindness.

I feel the same way about charity drives at work. Unless they are meeting donations dollar for dollar, they shouldn't look to us to make donations. Also, airlines that say you can donate your miles to charity to give them free flights. Flights the airlines could just give away for free anyway.

Before donating to ANY organization find out how much of your money is going to directly support its cause. For example, the Cancer Fund of America only uses 2.5% of its donations to support families impacted by cancer or cancer research. Meanwhile, the CEO seems to be living nicely off his estimated $250k annual salary.

In high school, we did a test. High efficient fridge with cost savings on electricity versus regular fridge. You would have to run the fridge for 43 years before the energy savings offset the extra cost. Poor people cant afford to save the planet.

And the business gets the tax deduction for the "donations" that weren't their money to begin with. Just say no, and donate to causes you yourself support. If that is the same one, fine, if not, no problem.

Charities and non-profits partner with them, because the best time to get someone to donate money is when they're already spending it and by making it as easy as possible. It's the equivalent of a salvation army Santa standing in front of a Wal-Mart. Beyond the fact that collections are happening at the location, the store itself has nothing to do with the charity. They don't get credit for collecting the donations, nor do they get to use them as a tax write off, despite the popular myth some very wrongly believe and continue to perpetuate, ignorant of the damage doing so causes.

I'm guessing that when YOU donate $20 at the checkout, the corporation does the donating (with your money)and gets the tax credit. This is why I make donations directly. And, getting political, thanks, Trump administration for making deductions so much harder to take advantage of.

As others and i have already pointed out, that's not what happens. Charities and non-profits partner with retailers, cashiers act as fundraisers for that entity with the money raised going directly to it. The retailer/corporation does not get the money, it does not donate the money in their own name, and they do not get to use your donations as a tax write off.

It is a big tax scam for the grocery store, at least in Australia and any country that allows charity donations to be free of tax. The store collects the customer's money and passes it off as their donation. The same applied to the "20 cents donated to dairy farmers". The mild costs more and maybe the store does give over 20 cent/litre, but it is the shopper's money, not the stores'.

My husband and I were talking about something similar last week. I said I don't like the donate food box in supermarkets. They are common in UK, you buy extra food and leave it to be distributed to food banks. I said (considering the profit of supermarkets) I would prefer to give money which the supermarket swaps for food at cost or at least discounted, so more food goes to the banks. My husband pointed out that if we just donated money, the shop might choose to use part of that as a wage for the people deciding what items to include - and the food banks might get filled with stupid unhelpful items whereas most people put useful items in. I suggested options on the check out screen, but he thought over complicating it would lead to less donations. We both agreed it is disgusting that we even have to debate the most effective way to help poor families not starve.

I financially support two relatives who are elderly and disabled; one is a vet. That includes rent, utilities and groceries at 100%. They would be homeless without me and nobody else in my useless family will lift a finger to help. So I generally decline to donate elsewhere and without guilt, because I spend more per month on charity than anyone I know!

Technically, the stores are the ones donating. They take your donation in as profit, and then make a nice big tax-deductible donation in their own name.

Because it's not profit from selling you a product or service, and the donation is tax-deductible, they are actually making money off your donation.

Precisely. Here in India we don't tip because it's covered under service tax by restaurants. It's been banned by courts. So we don't tip. Gd forbid any server who asks for a tip or acts funny while serving. Consumer courts fine the restaurants like there's no tomorrow.

Dr. Reed said people should be very wary of oversharing. "It can compromise personal security, and personal safety, as well as lead to bullying."

"It can also make people very vulnerable psychologically; if they are feeling low, overshare to get support, and are attached for it, then depression can set in."

To keep ourselves in check, Dr. Reed suggests treating communication on the internet the same as in real life.

"Remember, online is just as much of a social interaction as in the real world," he said. "Do not share anything online that you would not in real life. People can get a little impulsive with their digital interactions, so just remember that. Perhaps count to 10 before sharing."

But if you are bothered by another person who starts to give you too much information, psychotherapist Amy Morin says your first line of defense should be to change the subject.

For instance, try saying, 'Sorry to hear that. Have you heard the weather for tomorrow?' Sometimes people will take the hint, but you may need a more direct approach if the other person continues to overshare.

The key in such situations is to not reciprocate. Just because your boss tells you she's going through a divorce, that doesn't mean you need to tell her about your marital problems as well.

While sharing your personal stories can be empowering, you should do that at the right time, in the right place, and with the right people.

When the producers and media criticized her for it, she just said "live with it" and gave Duncan more airtime (they canceled her show soon after). She also advocated for gay marriage and LGBT rights although being straight herself, and also was an animal rights activist.

I tripled my salary moving from teaching high school STEM (physics) to my current role as an engineer. Stress and work hours are only a bit less but it is much more flexible.

I can relate to this. Insuring my family of four would cost me 1/3 of my income. This is with my employer paying half of my premiums. If I need to use the insurance, I would have a $15,000 deductible before anything happens.

Though not to know what to do with oneself just because the other person is gone isn't healthy either. You're an individual in a relationship, not an appendage to your partner.

This story started from a web channel called Mega TV and is unsubstantiated by any reliable source. There were cases of Antivaxxers who faked their vaccination card, several are being prosecuted under Greek law and risk a fine equivalent to 6000$. If this story was true, the doctors would have their medical practice license revoked for administering a treatment without consent and faking medical records.

You could make it more american by adding that no pregnant women are allowed to be involved in designing those developments, and that all schools in those developments must only have one door for the active shooter.

It isn't luck. It's causation. They caused it. They obstructed change. They have been courted by the right. They exchanged our future as long as they got what they wanted. I'm Gen X btw. I have lived through every Republican majority that deregulated financial rules. SNL scandal, Dot Com bust, Housing Bust, the Great Recession, Hyper Inflation. The rights formula always fails, yet is always repeated. The Boomers stopped healthcare reform while demanding higher benefits, they have been the worst, most entitled generation ever. There are so many problems now, it can't be fixed. It would take a unified effort and the formula to keep us fragmented to prevent that is simple. This group wants something normal (marriage, freedom from racism, sexism, immigration, etc.). That will hurt you by (BS reason). Vote for me to stop them. The politics of hate is why the US is a joke. It's why we are struggling. The problem is too big now. And the country is too spiteful to fix it.

I checked uo on the story and thankfully it has a happy ending, but yeah, f**k you, you hopefully fired m**********r: "After the crash, an emergency room doctor told Harper, who was 2 months pregnant at the time, that "not all pregnancies are viable" and that he could not detect a heartbeat, her lawyer, Andrew Norwood, told BuzzFeed News on Friday. The next day, however, a doctor detected a heartbeat, and Harper, who had spent years trying to get pregnant, is now the mother of a 4-month-old baby girl."
